Happy Tuesday!
Alys sent us these sweet photos of Z Princess out in the paddock with her mom and their paddock mates. We’ll be visiting Lane’s End in September, and we can’t wait.
In the meantime we’ve been hard at work planning the rest of the year for Zenyatta.com, and we have some exciting announcements coming up. Today, we’re starting a brand new mailing list for those who’d like to stay updated. You can subscribe by entering your email address in the form to the right (just under the search form). Members will receive news from Zenyatta.com, offers from the Zenyatta Shop, and will be the first to know about special events and opportunities to meet Zenyatta!
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena and Z Fans:
Sheena, your Frankel. What a wonderful image. Love and Hugs, JB
http://photos.bloodhorse.com/Thoroughbred-Greats/Frankel/i-6XRQzFc/A
Max
That’s Queally riding and Sandy, Frankel’s groom, with him. I saw a video of Sandy going to see Frankel recently and Frankel tried to take a bite out of him. It seemed to be a friendly chomp on a old friend. Frankel also likes to chase ducks and geese out of his paddock. Good thing maybe that Glesni is with the Moose.
Free the Moose! Beast, don’t start biting yet.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
A little Big D spirit there. Love and Hugs, JB
KathyR
Dear Max and Judy:
My little girl is more interested in sunbathing in the paddock at the moment: I’m sure that’s an activity that Beast would delight in. Then again, maybe Beast would be interested in engaging with the hundred or so sheep that are in the adjoining paddock?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
Yes, that sounds more like something The Beast would like. Love and Hugs, JB

@ Linda in NJ….about the green tape on the halters….we have discussed it since it first appeared on Coz…nothing definitive….but it seems to “tape” down loose ends…and someone the other day stated that foals love to pull at and chew on each others halters…so the green tape could be to conteract that…..another theory is that the color of tape in as indicator of diet type….long ago it was speculated that it could be to designate owners….but that proved unlikely…

Dear Kathy.I’m devastated to hear about Joey,he seemed so well now. They, and us, are going to miss him so much.RIP my darling boy.Hugs Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, just devastating. Had we lost him when he was so sick and under Dr. Bob’s care at the animal hospital all those days it wouldn’t have been such a shock. The people at the station mush be just heartbroken.
Hugs, Kathy.

August 30 Cherokee Devotional
How can we know another man’s heart or true desire? We’re not even sure about our own. So many potent suggestions have been made to us that we question our own hearts. If we can understand who we are, we will know others. To identify something valuable in another person is to know it in ourselves. The Tsalagi calls it intuitive or perceptive-to know something without tangible evidence. The miracle is in finding something good in someone else and realizing we have to have it in us to be able to recognize it. One who never has a good word or a good thought for anyone reveals his terrible need.
Sentiment was against the Indian, that they could not be civilized…could not be educated…were somewhat like human beings…but not quite in line of human rights…

Dear Kathy.I haven’t had the heart to check on many furbabies today,I have been reading all the wonderful tributes to Joey on his FB.It was so sad his momma/agent was away this week.Obviously there was a more serious health issue with him the other day.I just can’t get my head around it,also lost Sparkle the designer cat on august 21st.I hope they will find it in their hearts to give a home to another rescue cat one day.Joey would appreciate that.RIP darling Joey you brought joy and happiness to everyone you met.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Amen to everything you said. I haven’t checked on any of the other FB furbabies either. It’s all about Joey today. RIP Joey, we loved you so much.

Dear Sheena:

How cute is this, Morpheus is running in race 3 today at Saratoga against a horse named, St. Moose. Maybe Moosie is in disguise?
Anyway, safe and sound racing for all. Go, Danny, go.
Beast, maybe a little fall break for you at Spa Fair Hill. Chase the wildlife around!
Good luck cappers!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann and Z Fans:
Just listened to the Third Race at Saratoga with Morpheus and St. Moose. Alas, they did not make the board. Next time. It was a wild one with the winner being disqualified for interference and placed third. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. St Moose pulled an extreme Moose manoeuvre. He did not show up for the race. Scratched. As to Morpheus, appears that he is not yet at the level of his brothers or sister. Keep trying. Never give up.
Free the Moose! Beast, eat your oats. You are a growing boy.

Dear Sheena
Thanks for the goodnight message,it was 2am your time when I read it or I would have replied.Nice to think of at days end for me.I am so sorry about Joey.I read your friend picked up a cat from the vet-was it hers or yours?Hope that little one is recovering.
I look at the ospreys just before bed-early am your time-and in the morning.Last night Deri was in the nest and she is huge. This morning both Deri and Gwynant were in the nest and now they are on the lower perch with a flock of Canadian Geese on the ground all around them-totally not bothered by the lively crew.Very funny to watch.
I loved the photo of Frankel that Judy posted!! Yes,I think the story of red Rum would make a great movie! One horse that I would like to share with you is Hickstead. He was a feisty little guy who was thought too small for jumping and was bought by Eric Lamaze from Canada after others said he was just too much personality with not enough height. Hickstead came into jumping late and was a handful at first, yet it was clear he had something special. He won gold in the CN International at Spruce Meadows in 2007 and Olympic gold in the individual and silver for Team Canada in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. He won the Rolex Grand Prix in 2010,the one million dollar CN Challenge in 2011 to name a few.Eric had a sad upbringing and a checkered past and these two feisty characters became one- Hickstead lifted Eric up physically and emotionally to become one if the best in the world.Eric stayed focused and healthy and treated Hickstead like family, they brought out the best in eachother. Hickstead was only a few months from retirement in 2011 when he had a heart attack after he finished a clean round in Italy-he fell over walking off the course and protected his rider as he went down. So sad and shocking. Sadly there are many videos sensationalizing his death. Hickstead loved to jump,he also had a wonderful groom and was social and liked to be around other horses. He would nicker for his groom and cuddle, but on the course he was fierce. He had a medical and passed just a week before his death. I choose to remember his life-he was a little horse with a huge heart who soared and took all our hearts with him.Two videos come to mind Hickstead, the Legend and The Legacy of Hickstead (teaser for a full video). Hugs, Debbie
debbie s.
ps sorry Sheena,I wrote a book!
Dear Abigail, above a little tribute to Hickstead

Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Carol:
Great effort by Optimizer. Congrats to WD and O. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
July B. Optimizer was coming off a long layoff too. He is a son of English Channel and he’s now conditioned by Calumet’s home trainer. Nice to see Calumet horses do well. The farm is on the rebound with Brad Kelley.
Free the Moose! Beast, lights out in your stall.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thanks for this info. Same sire as V E Day. Yes, good to see Calumet coming back to winning ways. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Thrilled to the hilt by these results. Dan has some issues with Uncle Johnny. Relates better to Jose. Might be giving him the gears for shirlee.
Bravo Danny. You are the best miler of your generation. King of the Chestnuts.
Free the Moose. Free all chestnuts. Beast, you’re free already, maybe too free.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Dan is a Wonder Horse. What a fighter Maybe he was channeling our Shirlee. Love and Hugs, JB

Max, So happy for Dan. Did not see all of the race but saw the finish. What a champion! Yeah, think Danny is not too fond of the “dratted Johnny V. I have never seen him behave that way in the gate.
Ingrid Arnone
Yes, he is dear Judy,
and in great health….
I bet on him, he won!
Wow! Wow! What a great race.
Hugs Ingrid.

Dear Sheena, Max and Z Fans:
So happy for Dan, his connections and all the fans who love him. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. You bet. There are mighty few horses who are sick with colic, are rushed to the hospital, have surgery and come back to win after that length of convalescence. Danny, you are the man!
Free the Moose! Wild and free forever. Beast, superhero horse, learn from the King.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
He’s just amazing. Here’s the replay of the race. Love and Hugs, JB

Max
JudyB. Thanks for the video. That time is just incredible. Danny did just enough to win. He hardly broke a sweat. The King looks really well.
Free the Moose! Beast, get some serious rest. Tomorrow is another training day. Hope that you didn’t get loose too often today.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Just a hair off the track record. King of the Chestnuts. Power Up, CC, CDA, Treve, Big Trouble, ROC, Beholder, Sir, Reilly, Angel and all you are ill or injured. Beast, listen to Max. TT, love you forever. Hudson, thinking of you. Charlie, miss you. Danny, very well done. Loose The Moose! Love and Hugs, JB

You’re so welcome. Wasn’t he wonderful! Love and Hugs to You and Reilly, JB
Max
Sheena. Meant to include you too. Just too excited by Danny’s comeback. He kicked butt, including Uncle Johnny. Proud of you, Danny.
Free the Moose. Beast, watch the video of Dan’s win. It’s like you! All super horses have great hearts and noses that they know how to use.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I knew you’d be thrilled to bits about this win.Compliment for Dan from our Nick Luck “a very rare kind of racehorse”.He is,indeed,a superstar and as tough as nails!!He deserves all the plaudits.Free the Moose!Niss4Senate.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. LoPresti says that Dan will be tougher next time. What? Looks tough as nails already and then some. If he does not go to Woodbine, it opens that race up to foreign invaders. The UK and Irish trainers like Gosden or O’Brien can send in the troops. Woodbine is $ 1 million, a win and you’re in to the Breeders Cup. However, given Dan’s winning time today with an 11 lb handicap to the runner up, and if he stays well, no horse is likely to take him in the BC Turf mile. Not certain if The Beast will go to the sprint or dirt mile. Looking forward!
Free the Moose! Beast, rest and train. You’re got to live up to a chestnut legend.

Dear Debbie.Kathy and I are so sad today about the passing of Joey the garden cat.He was a stray who made the THV11 weather garden in Little Rock,Arkansas his home and the TV crew became his family. He was only 7 and had survived cancer in 2012.Sadly,he succumbed to kidney failure, quite suddenly, yesterday.
Each time I’ve looked in today Deri has been eating, she’d better be careful she’ll be too heavy for take off!!Thank you for the story of Hickstead and Eric.I think I recall reading of his death in the H&H at the time I didn’t have a computer then. It’s always sad when a horse gives his all and then dies.I wondered if you’d heard of our warhorse Warrior. He belonged to General Sir Jack Seely and they fought alongside the Canadian cavalry during World War 1 the Canadians loved Warrior,he was known as the horse the Germans couldn’t kill.He survived the war and lived to just a few weeks short of his 33rd birthday.Hope you and Tully have had a great day.I don’t have a cat not allowed in my block of flats.I used to have them years ago.Love and hugs Sheena.
Barbara Wood
Congratulations to Wise Dan for that brilliant comeback. A beautiful thing to see.
Hugs to all.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Barb:

Always recalling this day(August 31st) in 1997 when our beloved Diana,Princess of Wales, was tragically killed in Paris. She lives on through her sons William and Harry and her grandson George. She remains in the hearts of those who loved her.RIP.Love and hugs Sheena.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
RIP Princess Diana. Love an Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. I recall the day of her death. Always liked Diana’s humor, such as allegedly calling her stepmother, Acid Raine. She had a formidable sense of style and humanity. Great loss all around that she died so young. RIP.

Dear Ann:
Congrats to It’s My Lucky Day and Morena. I was thinking that Exacta would pay very little. It was actually a very good payoff for two favorites. Shot myself in the foot. How did you do? Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Oops! Sorry, Moreno. Love and Hugs, JB
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Judy B,
I had exacta with Moreno and Prayer For Relief, drat missed by one placing……back to the drawing board, LOL. hugs
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sue:
Oh, so close. Prayer For Relief ran well to get third. Lucky and Moreno really battled it out. I was no help at all. I choose Exacta Box of Romansh (Bernardini) and Prayer For Relief. Well, back to the drawing board. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Oops. That should be “chose”. Love and Hugs, JB

JB and Cappers, what a race! Congrats to Luckyday and our cappin winners!
Sorry I was no help. Am a lush for those big blazes and Stephanoatsee just looked right. Bet him to show, he came in 5th, but am still proud of him, most thought he would be last with those odds!
Congrats to, Palace and Linda Rice. Love them.
Am a little scared of a horse named Snake Pit, yikes! Beast, better put on your cape and guard the stable!
Have a nice weekend Zfans! Danny Boy…mwah!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann:
Yes, congrats to all the cappin’ winners. Happy for Palace and LR too. Yes, curious name, Snake Pit. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. Haven’t studied the line up for the Woodbine Mile in detail, but I checked and both Olympic Glory and Toronado are entered. Also Trade Storm. Juddmonte has Seek Again. I like that chestnut horse. Wonder if Joshua Tree will go to the Canadian International? He loves Woodbine and is on a winning streak in that race.
Free the Moose! Beast, you better be sleeping.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Goodnight. Thanks for sending me Summer’s first Caturday Report. Too cute. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc and all the Sweeties

Dear Mama Z, COZ, ZI and Z Princess:
Z great come back by Wise Dan today; made me think of you and all your fabulous races. Sweet Dreams. Love all of you so much. Hugs, JB
Max
Here is a nice horse who deserves a win. He’s got Roberto and Kris S in his pedigree like Zenyatta, but on his sire line. Trained by Chad Brown. Good going, Snake Pit. Knew that you could do it.

JudyB. Thanks for posting Snake’s win. It’s great to see. Don’t know too much about his character, but he looks like Roberto with those ears. Might be another Big D. They usually don’t give names like Snake Pit to ponies.
Free the Moose! Beast, have you left Saratoga yet?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
That’s true; he may be a handful. I wondered about his name too. Love and Hugs
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
Thanks for posting this video of Snake Pit winning at Monmouth. He came on strong and still had extra in the tank — really good race! Good job, Snake Pit!!
Thanks, Max, for pointing him out!
Hugs to all

Dear Marshall:
You’re so welcome. Thanks to Max for telling us about him. Love and Hugs to You and Reilly, JB

Yah………………………………….Huge Congratulations to Wise Dan, Uncle Johnny, Charlie and the whole Team. Thank You Mr. Fink for our beautiful Dan.
Not leaving you out Wiseman’s Ferry, and Lisa Danelle.
Congrats also to Itsmyluckyday. So so proud of you and all you went through to come back. Wasn’t it a crack in your hip or something like that.
So proud of you two boys. Love Ya Forever
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
It’s My Lucky Day had a cracked pelvis. His trainer, Ed Plesa (who also was Gabby’s original trainer) said he felt with enough time off, IMLD would totally heal and be back racing. He always had faith in this beautiful son of Lawyer Ron. Exciting finish to that one as well as Danny’s race. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB and Peggy. Have to admire this horse for overcoming that injury and returning to that level of racing.
Free the Moose! Beast, you’re already freer than most.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Oh yes, another brave fighter. Congrats to IMLD, Mr. Plesa and all his connections. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy & Max
Yes they both are just wonderful aren’t they.
