Zenyatta will not be bred this year. She continues to do well and is looking great with her new paddock buddy—even sharing her cookies. We’ll post more photos of them soon!
We appreciate all of the love and support her fans have shown. While we understand the concern the public has for Zenyatta’s well-being, we ask that you do not contact Lane’s End Farm to inquire about Zenyatta or her foals. We do our best to be generous with information and to share Zenyatta’s life with her fans through this website. Zenyatta.com will continue to be the source of official updates on all things Zenyatta.

Dear Z, COZ, ZI, BBG and DC:
Z, hope you had a restful day in your paddock today. Goodnight and Happy Dreams all. Love You. Hugs, JB
Max
Peeps talk endlessly about Z and make many, sometimes crazy suggestions, because she’s still current even after her years of retirement. We’ve got freedom of speech here, but we don’t have the requirement to listen to nutty recommendations or do anything about them. Just respect what Team Z wants in this case and leave Lane’s End to care for the Queen in peace. Like Oscar Wilde said, there’s only one thing worse than being talked about, and that’s not being talked about. Chestnuts get it.
Judy Berube
Dear Max:
Chestnut’s Rule! Maybe a certain Chestnut will rule on Belmont Day. Hoping so. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube
Dear Max:
Make that two certain Chestnuts. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
There are two other chestnuts ready to pounce in the Belmont. They are making Justify work for it. Hofburg is training at Saratoga. Setting up to be a good event.
Judy Berube
Dear Max:
I was thinking of Justy and Biscuits, of course.
Hofburg, a gorgeous Chestnut son of Tapit. If he goes in the Belmont, I think he will be the right long shot to use in Exotics. Hope Justy’s up to it. Rooting for him. Godspeed; safe and sound all. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Amen!
Very well said, Max.
Team Z and Lane’s End know very well what is needed and how to do it. Unsolicited advice is unnecessary and frankly, rude. They are incredibly generous to share the wondrous Zenyatta and her family with us. After all, it isn’t required.
Hugs and Love to Z and to our benefactors ?
Mary Margaret Thompson
Thank you TeamZ for everything you do for Zenyatta and all the beautiful horses you take care of. Stay safe, healthy, and happy. Blessings for all of you.

Dear Max:
Guess what! Just checked the early probables for the Belmont. Hofburg is 2nd choice to Justy at 4 t 1. Guess I’ll have to keep looking for the right long shot to fill the Exotics. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
We’re going to have to wait for the line up. This could be exciting for chestnuts.

What a hoot! Thanks Ann! ?
Patricia Wasson
Thank you for your wonderful decision! Looooooooove her!
Jeanne Johnson
So glad to get regular updates and to know Zenny is doing well. I think it’s great she’s getting some time off before breeding again… Very considerate decision.
Thanks for keeping us updated. She looks wonderful and we’d love to be informed on new happenings.
Fran Webb
Zenyatta is the very best she has done everything asked of her and deserves the rest with time to just enjoy being a well cared for horse!
sheena.davies(wales)
Congratulations to Alpha Centauri for winning the irish 1000 guineas Jessica Harrington trained. Many could’nt understand why Aidan had’nt waited for the Oaks with Happily.
Loretta
She looks tired and even a little sad. I’m glad they’re not breeding her this year… tg!!
Cheryl in Bellflower, CA
Hi Loretta. As someone pointed out, the picture above is from 2016. As for being sad, probably not. Animals bounce back quickly from such things. Saying that, it’s nice she gets a break for this year. She’ll be nice and rested, and healthy for next year! ?
Donna C.
I would like Zenyatta moved to a Champions Broodmare farm, Clarkland Farm with Beholder, Leslie’s Lady, Lemons Forever, or Tmber Town Farm with Havre de Grace, Plum Pretty and Songbird. She needs to be more intune with other broodmares 24/7. It’s a different way of life than she has now.
Max
Z is already at one of the best horse farms in the entire world. The Farish family have been caring for horses for years. If The Queen of England can stay at Lane’s End, it is more than good enough for anyone.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Hear, hear!
Very well said, Max. I agree 100%.
Thanks.
Hugs and Cheers
sheena.davies(wales)
William Farish was US ambassador in the UK at the time Casual Look won our Epsom Oaks.He has been a guest of Her Majesty at Windsor during Ascot week and ridden in the procession so I’d say Lane’s End are well qualified to care for Zenyatta.
Max
You are right. The Queen Elizabeth very rarely vacations outside of the UK. I read that she went to France once to see some horses. She has however stayed in Kentucky with the Farish family on several occasions. Apparently she was there to look at horses and oversee the care of some of her mares who were there. She is a recognized expert on horses and is known to love them unconditionally. She’s an inspiration in the horse world. I’d say that Zenyatta is in a very good place. Two Queens in residence. No other farm in the US has those kind of credentials.
Ingrid Arnone
I agree….Or retire better…
No more babies….!!
Roberta Gonzalez
What has happened to Zenyatta can happen anywhere, it’s just that the good people at Lane’s End and the rest of the team have allowed us the privilege of so much access into her life that we hear about what is going on with her. For some reason the best mares that raced, seem to have more problems then regular broodmares. They take wonderful care of her there, and the love for her is evident. As expressed by others, they are a top farm. Do you really think, considering the love the Moses have for Zenyatta, that they didn’t check all the top farms before they decided on Lane’s End? Remember that Ann loves her so much, she wanted them to find a way to have her live with them, until convinced that this was not practical. They didn’t take their decision lightly! In fact, it makes me sad that after these people have been so good to Zenyatta and us, that they are second guessed by people who aren’t professionals as they are, simply because they have been so open with us. I wish people would stop questioning everything that happens, just because of them being so open with us. Maybe other farms that we would like to have more excess to, see these comments, and say, no way are we going to open up ourselves to this. Finally, these people ARE VERY BUSY, but they still indulge us; accusing them of not doing the best for Zenyatta, who they love, and is high profile, doesn’t make any sense, and is a terrible way to repay their generosity and time that they show us.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Roberta Gonzalez,
Thanks for this post. Very well stated. ?
Hugs and Love
Abigail1849
I agree Roberta. Well said! But I would add that unfortunately, since the days of Zenny’s Diary, expectations have been created and that is going to be tough to get around.
But there is no question that Team Z and LE are devoted to Zenny and their generosity in sharing her with us is unprecedented.

Jane Cabrinha
I love the fact that she can rest. And I agree with Max. Can’t get much better than where she is I don’t think. She is very precious and needs to be treated that way and I think she is. Have fun being just being a super mare, Z. Always love you.
Denise
Thank you Ann & Jerry for sharing information on Queen Z and her babies! We fans are SO LUCKY to see her owners share information about her with the world. We get to stay connected from a far and for that we are grateful. We all love her very much! Thanks again! You’re the BEST!!!
Abigail1849
Does anyone remember the Mosses filly ZAZU? She was sold to Mr. Katsumi Yoshida in Japan in 2012 & now is one of his broodmares.
Well, her 3 year-old filly by Deep Impact, ARUSHA, wins nicely in Japan. She has 2 wins, 2 thirds and 1 second in her 5-start career.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iAS9u0XjdQ
How great is that?
Judy Berube
Dear Abigail:
Thanks for this news. Congrats to ARUSHA and to ZAZU. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Abigail,
Thanks for the news on Zazu’s girl by Deep Impact. Congratulations to Arusha on the second win to add to her 1 place and 2 shows. Very nice track record she’s working on. I see she is a lovely grey — takes after her mama and grandpa (Tapit).
Wishing her continued success and good health! All the best to Zazu, too!
Hugs and Love

Thank you Abigail for the information.
I saw Zazu at Hollywood Park. She is a beauty. I am happy to hear she is doing well in Japan.
I hope some day they will let her come home to the US and retire in a forever home safely.

Thank you for letting us know Zenyatta is healthy, and taking the rest of the year off, just for herself.
Perhaps at least a weekly posting here, on this site, to give us a photo or photos, for fun.
How about news of the filly, more often, also.
thank you, hugs and prayers

If any of you all, like me, are fans of Instilled Regard, just found out he is at Taylor Made resting. Don’t know if he was injured in the Derby or what. The way he closed, he could have been a real threat to Justify in the Belmont. Those Arch babies like distance.
Judy Berube
Dear Shirlee:
Yes I think IR would like the distance. Hope he’s OK and just taking some R&R.
Rooting for Justy and Mikey for the TC and looking for THE long shot for the Exotics. What do you think of Blended Citizen? He’s a possible for the Belmont right now and he’s a closer. Last raced and won on May 12th in the Peter Pan at Belmont, mile and an eighth. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Disappointed only 9 runners in the Epsom Oaks and 5 of those are from Ballydoyle.Only 14 in the Derby too. This year sees the 50th anniversary of the b.rilliant Sir Ivor’s win always one of my favourites. He was 30 when he died in 1995
Kimberly
I’m glad Zenyatta is doing well and having a well deserved rest from motherhood.
