Happy Saturday!
Scroll down for photos from our most recent trip to Lanes’s End.
Zenyatta and her War Front filly spend their summer days grazing and playing with paddock-mates. When the flys are particularly pesky, Z Princess will stay close to her mom’s tail for extra protection.
Zinconic was showing off for us in the paddock (we think he’s excited to be in training prep). Our next blog post will cover his new routine.
Enjoy!

Lucy Lu got her haircut and her sisfur Angel girl had a wonderful party Photos to share later. Was’nt the moon so beautiful last night didn’t get to see it in the UK.Boo and Buddy looked to be enjoying their photoshoot on his way to 15million!Joey raised a lot for his Catpaign, it’s so good to see him better still can’t understand what caused the problem.Have a blessed Sabbath.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I think it’s impossible for Zenyatta and her kids to take a bad picture. They are indeed glorious. Poor little Glesni…such a wonderful mama! Fingers crossed that Fubu places in the end. I’m going to have to get up earlier with all these furbabies to visit plus all the contests they’re in! Loved Marty’s alligator joke. Also glad to see that he’s eating so healthy. Still have to check on Lucy Lu and Angel Girl. Yes, the moon was very beautiful. Very hot and humid here today. Boo and Buddy are two more furkids that can’t take a bad picture. Adorable! Congrats to Joey on all the money he raised. Go check out Wonderful World of Animals on FB. Some great shots! Have a blessed Sabbath. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

I love all the pics. When you see big bros pics it’s hard to tell he’s just a yearling, until you get to the pic of him with tack. Then he turns back into a yearling. Strange.

Absolutely fabulous photos. Thank you SO much for sharing with us.

Wonderful photos! Thank you so much for continuing to share the Team Zenyatta story with us. My horses would kill for all that green grass.

Gorgeous photos! Seeing the Queen and her family always puts a happy, happy smile on my face. Little Z Princess is going to be quite a young lady. And Ziconic—he’s already incredible! I can’t imagine how proud the Moss’s must be of Zenyatta and her babies. So exciting to think of them on the track, carrying on their mother’s tradition.
Thank you for sharing their lives with us. My prayers are always with Queen Z and her little ones.

Dear Max.No luck for the Grey Gatsby in France today could only manage 6th in rain-sodden ground.May try a shorter distance at the Ebor festival.Should’nt have let him run really.Free the Moose PU Dan and all sick horses.Niss4PM.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Very sorry to hear this, but there will be another race for him. Agree with you that the rain must have had an effect. Watched that video of the two Bobs. Very interesting. When is Glesni expected to be heading to Africa?
Free the Moose! Let the Moose loose.

As others have written, Z has made beautiful babies! Truly, they are a joy to behold in these photos. My favorite is Z Princess. The photo of her trotting is exquisite; her gait looks so fluid and balanced. A beauty like her mom. Thank you for continuing to share Zenyatta’s life with her legion of fans.

Thank you all sooo much for sharing these great pictures. I love Zenyatta and her babies are beautiful. Kudos to whoever is responsible for picking the stallions. When I need to smile I pull up this site!!!

Dear Max.Looking forward to this week to find out the sex of the “bobs” and their names.Glesni will leave shortly after the chicks fledge. The female’s job is done,Monty remains until the chicks depart usually early September. It can be an emotional time seeing them go because we never really know if we will ever see them again.Monty’s 1st partner Nora left on August 7th 2012 and never returned.Glesni is her niece.Monty is 10 now and has been coming to the dyfi since 2007.
Have you heard they are thinking of making our Derby an evening meeting or changing back to a Wednesday.they are worried about the viewing figures.Free the Moose I say!!!PU Dan and all sick horses everywhere.Niss4PM=^..^= Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Those birds are very interesting. I sure hope that Glesni comes back safely. Same for Monty.
I heard about the idea of changing the time of the Derby. I don’t like the idea. I think horses should race in the daylight, not in the dark under lights. Maybe the idea is to race when it is still daylight? Cannot see how Wednesday would be better.
Just watching the World Cup. Frankly I understand this game just a little more than cricket. Don’t get how you can score in overtime and still continue to play.
Heard that Christophe Soumillon may not ride with Sea The Moon if he goes to the Arc. CS is stable jockey of Aga Khan. Small world. As you know, Sea The Stars is living at Gilltown Stud. That is a beautiful farm. Has it’s own lake(s). County Kildare is a wonderful part of the world for a horse.
Free the Moose. Give the Moose a break. Danny, hope that you are pacing yourself. Same for The Beast. Reilly and Sir, get those treats. All sick horses, please get well. Tasty, watch over the entire Z family. We are looking out for your baby. Tasty, never forgotten.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I have no time for football I’ve just found out the Germans won.I did watch the match in 1966 when England won.The Derby was always run on Wednesday,I can’t recall when they changed it to a Saturday. We do get a lot of evening races in the summer but I would prefer the Derby to keep it’s afternoon slot.I wish they would realize it’s the new commentating team that has caused an alarming drop in viewing figures.
Yes,it does seem strange that CS wouldn’t ride STM in the Arc The Aga Khan has a beautiful stud.STS is fortunate to have such a lovely home. It’s fascinating to watch the ospreys and their family life. The chicks grow so quickly,it’s amazing.Nissy has spotted another chippy! Mouses.Free the Moose PU Dan and all sick horses everywhere.NISS4PM.Sheena
Max
Sheena. Yes, I find the whole soccer thing to be a big bore. It goes on forever. It’s better in the Olympics. I do like to watch baseball in the summer. For some reason, it’s even good on the radio while driving. I have satellite radio.
Did I mention that I’ve seen some chips myself recently too? Had to circumvent one on the street and on another day while driving. They move like lightning.
The German Derby was the first time out for Christophe with STM. The commentators thought that the move to the left was his idea. Only later did the trainer admit that STM did it himself. Found a very nice video of STM as a yearling. Will post it later.
Saw another video of The Irish National Stud where Sea The Stars was born. One of their stallions is related to Roberto. Has the ears. His name is Big Bad Bob. He’s huge. They let people see the foals and broodmares on farm tours. They also have cows in the fields with the mares. Ribot would not tolerate cows.
Looking forward to hearing about the osprey. This is a great project.
Free that Moose!

WOW!!!!
Our Princess Z is so very beautiful, just like her Mother, Our Queen. I saw her Sire last September during the Secretariat Festival at Claiborne…talk about handsome!!! That pairing produced an offspring just as special as the one with “Bernie” and Tapit!!!!
Oh, to dream of their futures!!!! CoZ was the first in our hearts, and it seems he is happy with John. To ponder the futures of Ziconic and Princess Z….who is to know?!?!
I can state with honesty that I appreciate so very much how much Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Team Z, and Team Lane’s End keep us involved. And always, appreciation to Our Queen Zenyatta for delicately dancing through her life’s branches!!!!
Love to All,
Mary in Boone
Max
Sheena, JudyB and Z fans. Here is a video of a visit to the Irish National Stud in County Kildare. Some very nice shots of the stallions and the mares with their foals. Lots of interesting info. Sea The Stars was born at this farm. The Queen visited a few years ago when she made her historic trip to Ireland.

Dear Max:
Many thanks for the post on the Irish National Stud – just loved seeing dear old Vintage Crop! Cheers, KathyR
Max
KathyR. I thought of you when they mentioned him in the video and wondered if you knew him. He looked great. So happy that he got to meet The Queen Elizabeth. Now sorry about his passing. He appeared to be having a good life. That farm is top class. They treat horses well there.

Dear Max:
Thank you so much. What a beautiful place. We should add it to our list of Retirement Communities. Beautiful horses. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
Thanks, Max. Gorgeous. Love the cows, too.
Max
AnnC. The sight of cows on the premises are one of the things that Ribot wouldn’t tolerate. Other stallions also made him angry. They had to house him in paddocks where he could not see either.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Lovely video! Wish we were there :-)

These pictures are priceless! All of Zenny’s offspring are gorgeous and love the camera…just like mom! Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us another glimpse into our Queen’s life and those of her Princess Z and Zi.
suewVa
I just saw these photos for the first time and all I can say is WOW! Zenny looks fabulous and Princess Z and Zi are splendid. I love how Zi glances toward the camera when he’s racing across the paddock…he’s a ham just like his mom.
KathyR
Dear Sheena:
Wish you hadn’t told me about Monty’s first lady: I find it just so extraordinary the distances these birds can travel, and the risks they take – and it’s usually people who cause them the most distress. Hopefully Glesni and Monty can be re-united next breeding season, but I do pray they’ll have a safe journey. Hugs, KathyR.

Sex of Black Caviar’s foal to remain a secret.
This piece was in today’s Sydney Morning Herald. Hope the operator of the red pencil lets me use quotation marks!
“Connections of unbeaten superstar Black Caviar have asked not to know the sex of her first foal, due in late September. Black Caviar was retired last year after notching her 25th win in the group 1 TJ Smith Stakes and was later served by Darley’s Exceed and Excel. Part-owner Neil Werrett said the pregnancy had progressed well at a stud at Scone in the Hunter Valley. “She’s going really well”, he said “All her scans have been positive and it’s all looking good so far. We don’t know what the sex is and we asked not to know either”. Werrett said Black Caviar’s owners would soon plan her next mating partner.”
Max
KathyR. Glad to hear news of Nelly. Hope all goes well for her.

Dear Kathy R:
Thanks for this info on BC. Looking forward to the joyful news of her foaling (I’m guessing a Boy). Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena and Max:
Saw your comments on night racing up above. Agree with you Max, racing should be in the daylight hours. It’s become a thing down here in summer, the reason being the need to bolster crowd numbers. The problem is that the crowd that do come for night racing only come for the booze (sounds harsh I know) and the social side, and have no respect for the equine athletes. Call me old fashioned, but I think the horse should always come first, second and third.
Roberta
The pictures are beautiful, but how could they be anything else? Zenny produces the most beautiful babies, that grow up majestic and strong; how proud you must be of them! I was so glad to hear that we were going to have some special attention on Ziconic, I hope that includes a video of him, so we can see him moving now that he is a yearling; the last time was as a baby. Thank-you for always loving Zenny and her family, and thank-you for thinking of Zenny’s fans, that have undying love for her.
♥ Auntie Judy aka JAG / So. CA ♥
First of all, I’m loving how similar Z Princess’ blaze is to Zens!
Secondly, she is one tall filly!!! Wow she’s going be just like momma :-)
Ziconic: AMAZYING!!!!!! Watch out for this guy. He looks like he means business!
Thank you for making us smile. We look forward to the updates and are grateful that you share Zen and her family with us.
{{hugs}} and peppermint kisses, Auntie Judy

Death of Vintage Crop
The twists and turns of life: just as I had been thanking Max for posting the video of the Irish National Stud, with one of my favourites, Vintage Crop, the grand old man has died at 27. Here’s the piece from Skysportsradio:

July 14 Cherokee Devotional
Never quit when the going gets rough. Now is the time to bear down even harder. It would be a shame to quit and find we had almost reached our goal. If a person that can’t swim panics in deep water, he will sink. But if he rolls over and floats for awhile he can get his sense of balance and make the distance easily. The Cherokee believes he can endure, he can work, and he can fight. He will not be a tsv na, turned back. We owe it to ourselves to see what we can accomplish. And it may well be that we can do what others said is not possible.
You showed me…the spirit shape of things as they should be. You have shown me, and I have seen.

Dear Max and KathyR.So sad to hear of the passing of the great Vintage Crop.He had a wonderful life at the stud.RIP.I believe one of my favourite chasers Moscow Flyer resides there now.We have a special connection (the same birthdate).I’m running late,as usual, will watch the videos later.Hugs Sheena.

Sheena. Just read that Simenon won the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary on Saturday. Does that horse never take a vacation? He’s either running on the flat at Ascot or back over hurdles. Mullins says that if invited Simenon will race in the US. Note that one, Moose. This could be you. I’d travel to see you run or stand still.
Free the Moose. Let the Moose out!
