Happy Thursday!
A team from The Blood-Horse was recently in Kentucky filming a feature about Zenyatta that will run as a Breeders’ Cup longform at Bloodhorse.com.
The piece will tell the story of Zenyatta’s career and connections, her charisma, and the fan following she maintains to this day. The Bloodhorse team went to Lane’s End to collect video footage to include in this special online feature and visited with Ziconic as well as 14Z. Meanwhile, their photographer in New York collected images of Cozmic One in training with John Shirreffs, which will also be included in the piece.
Here you can see a few photos of the team in action. Pictured above right is Multimedia Producer Scott Tracy and Online Features Editor Claire Novak in the paddock with Z Princess. Take a look at some of the behind-the-scenes footage below.
This piece is set to run on October 27, and we’ll remind everyone when it is released. We can’t wait to see it!
You can check out another recent longform feature they did on Arlington’s Richard Duchossois and the upcoming Arlington Million here.
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena and Z fans
Fond farewell to Glesni and pray for her safe journey.Such an excellent Mom!!!
Thanks Sheena,I loved the video of Deri.Since I came on board late I am so happy I had a chance to watch her hatch. She certainly had some good help from her Mom and has grown into a very fine bird (as has her brother). And yes,she is very vocal and I love her calls which often fill my home. After her first day home my daughter stopped asking,”What is that?”
It is so lovely to see Zenny and her family and our osprey family and others who come to our attention through this wonderful site.
Thank-you Sheena for all the connections to our osprey clan.
Am praying for peace in a very troubled world.
With love,
Debbie

Dear debbie s, Sheena, Max and Z Fans:
I join all of you in praying for peace and an end to the killing and hate. I do believe most people in this world want to live in peace and harmony. We must keep on praying. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max and KathyR.Yes,the majority of us in the World are just hard-working peaceful individuals but there are these absolutely sick fanatics who seem to enjoy killing.Yes,I heard about that Australian and his son.Our enemies seem to live amongst us now.The Moose and the ospreys have the right idea they are free spirits.Free the Moose!Sheena.
Max
Sheena and KathyR. Britain has always been renown for fostering the individual and respecting the rights of free spirits. Australia too has protected its eccentrics and free thinkers. Those enemies wherever that they may be will not win. We stand united always against tyranny in all of its hideous incarnations. Like Churchill said: Never give in.
And all the more reason for the beak to relent and let the Moose go free!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Debbie. It’s been wonderful watching our osprey family grow this year. They are both beautiful young, strong birds Monty and Glesni have much to be proud of.I hope their journeys(the 4 of them)will be safe and trouble free and I look forward to seeing Monty and Glesni returning next spring. It was a great video,it’s hard to believe she was so tiny only 10 weeks ago.I join in your prayers for a more peaceful world.Love and hugs Sheena.

Goodnight Sheena
I echo your sentiments.
Sweet dreams,
Debbie

Every time I drive by a farm (I take that route rather than Hwy.) that has two mares that foaled earlier this spring and those foals are growing, always eating hay or grazing right by mom, I THINK OF YOU SWEET Z and such beautiful offspring you have brought into this world!! I wish I could sit and watch you with Zprincess for hours. (I’ll work if they would like me too as well)
Love n kisses to your soft nose and to your boys & sweet youngest girl

Dear Zenyatta family:
We all need cheering up – so I went to visit with my little Thurzel. She was down the end of the hill, in a small grove of deciduous trees, and turned her head as I came up to her. She closed her eyes and leaned her head against me while I stroked her silky soft neck, then I tidied up her forelock and smoothed her big blaze. But the best bit – she took a piece of carrot, and after rolling it about in her mouth for a bit, crunched down on it with relish! Such a moment! Told her I’d be back tomorrow for the weekly grooming, and gave her a hug. Just wonderful! Hugs, KathyR

Dear Z Fans:
Visited Hudson this afternoon and brought her more Stud Muffin treats and carrots. She looks very good. Deb brought her into her stall for the night and she ate her evening meal heartily. Told her hello from all of her Dear Aunties.
Charlie enjoyed more treats too and ate up all his grain as well. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy
So glad Hudson is doing better. I was real worried about her. So glad she has a good report.
Thank You to for letting me know about Princess of Sylmar’s race on Friday. I so wish it was Saturday and I could see it. I’ll catch the replay. A beautiful 2 year old is racing on Friday that I like so much too. Skipalute. She’s in race 7. Julian is riding her. A nice up and coming Filly I believe.
Saturday I’m pulling for Geeky Gorgeous in the Ballerina. I know she’s facing some stiff competition but I hope she does well. Oh gosh and in the Travers what do you think? Wow.
But Sunday, I’m going to be sitting on Pins and needles again for Mike and Shared Belief. Just love this horse . He’s just wonderful. Did you hear Mike say that he wanted to ride him for a long time. So happy about that.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Oh, Judy Tell Charlie I said hey. Give him a hug from me.

My Dear Peggy:
Thank you. Will do. Godspeed to Princess, Skipalute, Geeky Gorgeous and Shared Belief. Safe and sound all the horses and riders. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy
So happy to hear about your visit to see Hudson and Charlie.Glad to hear Hudson is looking good and know they both appreciated yoru visit and treats.
I also believe most people want to live in peace and harmony.
Dear KathyR
It was a lovley thing to hear about sweet Thurzel, how she leaned her head against you and took her first carrot. That brought me such peace just imagining you two.
Goodnight Judy and KathyR and all Z fans and of course sweet Z and family.

Dear Judy and Debbie s.
Firstly, excellent news on Hudson (knew those muffins would do the trick!) and also delighted Charlie hasn’t missed out (but knew that would never happen!).
Thanks for your comment about little Thurzel: I’ll give her a hug from you tomorrow. And you’re so right, if we could just learn from the innocent trust and devotion so-called “dumb” animals give us the world would be on a small step to improvement.
Love and hugs KathyR

Hello Max,
Mum was at York yesterday to watch Australia win the Juddmonte, I also like The Grey Gatsby, got a soft spot for greys, she said it was a great race but Joseph was like a stick to make 8 stone 12.
Hello Sheena and Judy.
Z you and your babies are simply amazing, I think of you every day.
Today is the Yorkshire Oaks go Taghrooda.

Dear Donna:
Wow, your Mom got to see the Aussie. That’s great. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Donna. Your mother is a lucky lady to see that handsome horse win. Did you see the photo which Ann NC posted of young Joe kissing Aussie? Aussie looked a little apprehensive about that because as you know young Joe dieted to get to that weight and he must have been very hungry, as in he could eat a horse?

August 21 Cherokee Devotional
Sometimes wisdom is knowing what to overlook. Often it is forgiveness without putting it in words. But why would any quick-thinking , industrious person of knowledge and intellect want to overlook anything? Because we never know when we are going to be in another person’s shoes. If it should happen, we want to be forgiven-for a variety of reasons. Overlooking shortcomings is not just wisdom-it’s kindness as well. Who has not hoped the world was looking the other way when he or she fell short of being admirable? To overlook in Cherokee is a hi ya s to di-meaning almost the same thing as to ignore. What a blessing to not be ignored, but to have our faults overlooked.
You must not hurt anybody or do harm to anyone. You must not fight but do right always.

Dear Kathy. It’s a dull day at York,we still have some sun in Wales.Marty says there’s a weally bad drought in California and he’s going to conserve water by giving up his baffs!!I could see you congratulating Zoe on her 10,000likes,My Miss kitty has reached 22,500 as well and Haven the cat has over 35,000!Gosh he’s got a fluffy belly!Joey is nearly reaching 400,000!I loved the painting of him from the UK,so remarkably life -like.Fubu enjoyed his trip to Petco and his new toys.Kimberly spoils him so!I think Mango is moving to New Mexico from Ohio she was worried her dresses will have to go in the big truck. They are a family of yorkies one only weighs 4lbs.
I hope Monty hasn’t seen Dai Dots he always gives a call on his way back to Africa the eternal batchelor.Hope you enjoy your day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
We actually had a few drops of rain yesterday . We were on flash flood warning until 9:00 PM last night. There was hail in parts of our county. Just depended on where the cell passed through. Very admirable of Marty to give up his baffs! So pleased for little Zoe on her 10,000 plus likes. Just love that little girl! That is a lovely painting of Joey. Glad Joey is hanging in and enjoying shopping still. Mango is adorable. She’ll have a big adjustment to make moving from Ohio to New Mexico! Godspeed to all the ospreys. Have a wonderful day!. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

Dear Max and Z fans.Huge shock at York Taghrooda beaten by Tapestry she was ridden by Ryan Moore.Maybe the race at Ascot was a bit much for her!Hugs Sheena.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
As TC would say; even when you know, you never know. Taghi will get ’em next time. Congrats to Tapestry. Love and Hugs JB
Max
Sheena. Just came home to this news. I’m sad. Tagi is a super filly. One loss doesn’t change that fact. Just bad luck. What a strange name the dam of a Tapestry has. Rumplestiltskin. I see that young Joe came in last with a riding weight of 9 s 7.
Free the Moose! Hope that you are feeding Glesni.
vicki
Thank you for your kind words. Cb is was my cat Clarabelle and I had a growth on my thyroid during that time. My condition had gone untreated for so long that I was greatly weakened and unable to do much of anything. My Mom was there for me and I wouldn’t be here today without her love and support. Cotton was coming down with something. She had to make a visit to the vet, which she hates like all cats, and I spent a night and a day trying to get medicine down her which she would then throw up all over my bed when my back was turned. She’s much better today and tried to eat the dogs food. As for Jackie he is treading on dangerous ground. First he saw my phone on the table and took it outside to roll around in his mouth. Then he went in my brothers house, he shouldn’t have left the door open, and ate a can of mixed nuts. There is a fantastic article in the August 2014 issue of Horse and Rider about caring for the mane and tail. The horse in the story, Smart and Shiny, has the most beautiful mane I’ve ever seen. Everyone be well and safe.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear VIcki:
Marshall enlightened me on “Cb”. So glad you recovered fully and thank God for Moms. Happy to know that Cotton is better. Jackie is a handful; typical pup. Can’t help chuckling at his antics, although, eating a can of mixed nuts is no laughing matter. Hope he’s none the worse. Will check out the Horse and Rider article. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena
A good effort from Taghrooda, she will come back and win next time.
The photo of Glesni is beautiful-thank-you.I also watched the video of Deri again and proceeded to cry. I will miss them all and pray for their safe journey.I just watched the nest on livestream and it was so cool, Monty flew in and literally gave a fish to Deri. What a good Dad! These days are precious before they go. I just learned that when Monty fishes he takes 2-3 tries to catch a fish. When the chicks leave they have no experience and for the first while it will take them 24-25 tries to catch a fish.No wonder they are bulking up besides the long long journey ahead.I do love them and wish them well. Hugs,Debbie
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Debbie.Yes,these last days with the ospreys are very precious indeed.I always get a bit tearful when Glesni leaves, she had fought so hard for her nest last year let alone finding Blue 24 living there when she returned this year but she’s nothing if not feisty and was able to regain her rightful place as Monty’s partner.I should imagine she’s well into France by now.oh,Monty is a wonderful dad the chicks will never have to fish for themselves until they leave. So much to learn and to survive.
I was sad Taghrooda lost today,it was possibly her last race in the UK ,she will retire at the end of the season.I think maybe she was a spring/summer filly it had turned damp and cold in York today. There were good vibes about Tapestry before the race, Aidan was delighted! That’s racing as they say.I will always remember Tag’s great win at Ascot last month though.Hope you’ve had a lovely day.Love and hugs Sheena.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Yes,I am just as sad as you about Tagi, she may never run in the UK again and is definitely retiring at the end of the year.Did you hear about Jamie Spencer retiring he’s only 34 and is going to take a management role with Qatari racing. He messed up his personal life after that affair with Hayley Turner but he is still on friendly terms with Emma.
The East Anglia Childrens Hospices have made Frankel a charity ambassador because of the money he’s helped raise.Sir Henry chose the charities .Moosie’s friend Top-Notch-Tonto was a good 2nd today. The Moose must be free.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. I had a dark premonition earlier this week about this, but decided to ignore it. I have not seen the race, but it sounds like the same thing happened to her as what happened to Noble Mission. I’m very sorry about this because she is truly remarkable in every way. Gosden knows best but I would like to see her stay in racing. It would be nice to see her try to do what her daddy and granny did in the Arc.
Heard about Spencer. Very young to give up racing. That kind of passion for riding does not easily go away. Look at Gary Stevens.
I recently saw of photo of Frankel with those kids. He seemed to like their attention. I did not say anything because he’s your favorite horse and I like to see you tell us about him in your own time.
Congrats to any pal of Moosie. Glesni must be settled in the barn by now. I’ll bet that Moose gave her the highest rafters. Maybe Glesni can inspire more attention to her work ethic in the elusive equine.
Free that Moose!
Max
Sheena. Look at this. Toast is racing against Game on Dude. I cannot help it. I love the Dude. Anything can happen when he’s racing.

debbie s.
Dear Sheena
Just got home from the barn- it’s been a good day,thank-you…Hope you are feeling better now. I am so sorry,I didn’t realize this was the last season for your Taghrooda. She has accomplished so much and her run at Ascot was remarkable. We always want them to retire with a win but win or lose this race -she is a champion and a gorgeous horse. Big hugs, Debbie
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Oh, Glesni will get Moosie to work hard, his other friend Gary has been helping horses at York this week.I would love to see Taghrooda win the Arc but Sheikh Hamdan is adamant she is retiring this year as is Australia. The Brothers Grimm wrote the fairy tale Rumplestiltskin. It originated in Germany.Victor Espinoza is riding Toast yay!!And it’s all weather.!Free the Moose.Sheena.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena and debbie s:
Didn’t realize Taghi was retiring either. Wishing her a happy, healthy life. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. She’s not retiring until the end of the racing season. There is still the chance that she will run and win in the Arc like her dad and granny, Urban Sea. That glorious red coat of Aussie comes as a gift from Urban Sea. Aussie and Tagi share her as their granny through her sons and their fathers, Galileo and Sea The Stars.
Free the Moose!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thanks for this info. I hope she retires with another win (or two). Wonderful bloodlines on these two, Taghi and Aussie. Glorious red coat, indeed. Power Up Danny, CC, CDA, ROC, Beholder, Sir, Big Trouble, Angel, Reilly and all who are ill or injured. Beast, Max is watching. TT, love you forever. Loose The Moose! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. With her will and talons, I doubt that even Moosie could ignore Glesni.
It’s sad that these extraordinary horses like Aussie and Tagi retire so early. 3 is just too soon. It looks like we have to give more attention to geldings like Dan and CDA.
This race with Dude, Toast and the others could be very interesting. When the Dude is on, no horse can catch him. However, no one ever knows exactly what the Dude will do. Kind of like the Moose.
Free the Moose.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I wish the Dude would let us know if he’s going to bring his “A” game. Really hard to make a pick for that race, and it’s one of the two handicapping contest races this weekend. Really like Shared Belief, and then there is Toast and several others.
