Dear Judy,
So sorry for the loss of Dubai, I still think of my Honeybee who broke her leg on the track, we will never forget them.
Max glad you are back, would love to know your opinions on Noble Mission and Zenyatta.
Donna
Max
Donna. I have always admired Noble Mission, and if he could pass on the Sadler’s Wells-Danehill cross in combination with Zenyatta’s talent, that would be a rare and wonderful thing. There are sadly no guarantees even with known stallions. Mission has no track record yet as a sire and he is a late bloomer as a racer. He’s also a turf horse. So far Zenyatta has only visited sires with established resumes. But even then, it’s always a big gamble. Breeding is like magic. No one knows when or if it’s going to work out.
Ann NC
Congrats to all winners.
Maryp NY, our cappin buddy, I am esp happy for you! Have fun! Wow.
Hugs.
Anne Bonner
Warmest congrats to all the winners!! I know you will treasure your prizes. And for those who actually get to visit our Queen, every minute at Lane’s End is sure to be a truly special blessing in your lives. I am so jealous — but in a good way!
I look forward to seeing photos from your visits so we can share the moment with you.
$20K for such a good cause! Z-sters are simply the best. We may not all agree on everything, but we do share a love for Zenyatta and her team who are so gracious and so generous.
And of course, a special salute to all veterans today. Two of my brothers were in Viet Nam at the same time, one in the marines and one in the army. They were very reluctant to give details of their time there, but they did offer a few, and they helped me to realize how much we all truly owe all veterans — more than we can ever really know. So many “small” moments of fear, loneliness, homesickness, courage, determination and sacrifice. God bless them all.
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
Team Z, So happy to know you brought in $20,000 useful dollars for the TRC!!
Congratulations to all of you lucky winners especially to the five that get to see Zenyatta. Please share your story of your visit with us when you return. I am not a poor loser, after 4 years I am getting used to not being a winner. hah Oh well, I still can dream.
hugs, Sally B

News is that Dan is doing rather well. He’s following his exercises and is comfortable jogging. LoPresti is quoted as saying that Dan is supposed to have tests soon to see how his bone is healing. I’m praying for a good report.

Dear Max,
So happy to hear that Dan seems to be doing well. Hope the report is good!

Ann NC. Here as requested is an update on The Big Beast and the Snake. The Beast having recovered from ankle surgery was supposed to return to training at the end of October with Oaklawn as his next target. Lest anyone think that the Beast has no connection to Zenyatta, there is indeed one. I first came across the Beast when he was racing at Belmont in June against among others, Guggenheim. Guggie is a handsome chestnut colt who is trained by John Shirreffs and owned by Jerry and Ann Moss. Guggie was a good second on that day. I’ll keep following him.
As to the Snake, things are somewhat quiet there. No news. His connection to our Z? He’s trained by Chad Brown who apprenticed to the incomparable Bobby Frankel. He all know that Bobby Frankel was close friends with Dottie Ingordo Shirreffs. You know the rest.
Ann NC
Thanks, Max. Appreciate the update on these guys. All roads lead back to Zenny!
Snakes usually get quiet this time of year.
Go Fly!

Dear Max.That’s great news.I hope for a good report too,you must miss seeing him.The Moose is free!Sheena.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Nigel says the Moose has eaten far too much over the summer and is not fit.I thought he went swimming??We won’t see him until December.I am disappointed he isn’t in the Tingle Creek! The Moose is free!Sheena.
Max
I don’t understand this. Isn’t Nigel and his peeps in charge of organizing the feeding of the Moose? Or did the Moose go Lava Man and get into the food bins on his own? Does Moose need the Jenny Craig diet? She owns a lot of good racers, and Z’s former paddock mate, Spooky Minister.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy.God bless you all and goodnight.Thinking of your Russ today,He would be so proud of you.Love and hugs. SheenaX

Dear Max.I’ve heard of Jenny Craig, did’nt know she owned horses. You will remember Moose spent the summer in Yorkshire and they like their food there!I’m afraid he’s a bit fat!Sheena.
lauraj_cincinnati
She campaigned Sidney’s Candy, Twirling Candy, and Chocolate Candy among others.
Max
Always liked it that a diet goddess named her horses with the word candy.
Terry Crow
She had one of the most powerful stables in California. According to a statement she once made, the 2011 Santa Anita Handicap kinda soured her on racing. Anyone who wonders why should look it up. Another Baffert theft.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
The Craigs bred all three of them. They seem to like Candy Ride as a sire. :-)
Max
Candy Ride is a very good sire. He sired Shared Belief.

Dear Judy B,
So sorry to hear about Dubai. Losing him is as devastating to me as hearing about Z Princess. I had been so encouraged by your reports that he had been doing better & had hope that he would soon be well. He was such a brave boy! My only consolation is that he will never feel pain again.
My prayers & sincere sympathy to you, Angela & all who helped Dubai & tried to bring him back to good health. I am sure that he knew how much you all loved him. Please give Angela a hug for me & let her know that I am praying for her. She did everything possible for Dubai and is truly a hero for all that she did for him when many others would have given up.

I had posted a message for you on the first page. In case you didn’t find it, I am so sorry that Dubai had to leave us. Prayers for comfort to you, Angela and all who loved and cared for him. Dubai found love and happiness at last, even though it was all too short; however, he knew he was loved and he Had found a home. RIP Dubai, sweet one.
Take care, Judy!

Z Princess, Dubai, will always love you.

Yes Sheena,
I had to laugh at your comment, I have just had my mother visit from Yorkshire for a month and all we did was eat. You are right Yorkshire people love their food especially when they come to the US and discover ribs, cheese cake, crab cakes etc.
And when I go home it is the same, food is a constant thing and we are both skinny.LOL

November 12 Cherokee Devotional
Intelligence, go hu s di-ge sv, is not always on the side of the dominant, nor weakness on the side of those who are dominated. Circumstances have often dictated where a person is in life-and will continue to control us until we perceive the lay of the land and change it. Some have thought we put ourselves into certain positions to be forced into learning lessons we may not have learned in an ordinary way. But we are becoming more and more aware that these things are planted in our minds to make us more manageable. What do we need to know that cannot be taught outwardly? Who is the teacher? We must be wise not to fall into the negative flow that can be poetically worded to entice us into sinister plots. It is not ours to dominate or be dominated. Ours is to love others-but we cannot do it until we have learned to love ourselves.
To clothe a man falsely is only to distress his spirit…

@Judy B.–I was thinking of Russ last night when I was thanking God for our veterans.
@Donna–what I would give to be skinny. And what I would give for a good crab cake…sigh.

Thank you for thinking of Russ. He was so proud of his military service and Veterans Day meant so much to him. Love and Hugs, JB

Max
Sheena. That link will not open. Read about it elsewhere. Very happy for Noble Mission. Would have liked to see him get Horse of the Year too. Abdullah did well. Learned also that Tiggy is partly US owned.
Did you hear that Sire is lame and will not run? Sorry to hear this. He’s a nice horse.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional as always.I am so excited about NM I hadn’t realised the awards ceremony took place last night I know the link came up all wrong(I am still learning) but it’s the racing post website!A very wise Zoeism today I must say!She had a busy day yesterday I have just been reading about Mango’s day she looked so beautiful in her patriotic dress and is so proud of her mums!We do take our freedom for granted sometimes,I do try not to,so many sacrificed everything so we could live our lives in freedom and we must never forget. She even got more lovely birthday gifts!Marty is getting a lot of TLC and ice cream!Fubu is behind in his contest I am voting!I am late,as usual, so will have to visit the rest of the furbabies later.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I’m pretty excited about NM too. I wonder if he’ll eventually be a date for Zenny? Loved Zoe’s Zoeism. She was very busy yesterday. isn’t her patriotic dress beautiful? Mango was beautiful, too. Nice pic of her family. Our freedom is not to betaken for granted. Many have shed their blood and even given up their lives for it. We must never forget. Marty is really being pampered. He should be back to normal soon. Good luck to Fubu. Have a wonderful day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Donna.Sadly,I am no longer skinny! Not too large though!I am glad your mum had a great visit and enjoyed all that lovely food.Hugs Sheena.

I am not going to get all weepy here because I think my reservoir of tears is running low. My Cotton has not been seen since Saturday. Yes, she did like to spend most of her time sitting on the porch rail or on the fence post. When she was hunting she would go out among the blueberry bushes. She didn’t like people (except me) and she wasn’t fond of other cats. When I returned in the car she was always right there to greet me because she was sure I brought her a treat. She lived a long life and I will miss her like crazy but I refuse to give up. Perhaps she’ll show up one day and I will get her her very own order of fries from McDonalds. I do have her only two surviving offspring, Salty look just like her but loves to cuddle and Pepper looks nothing like her but inherited her unfriendly attitude. All we can do is go on and never forget the good times.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Vicki:
So sorry to hear this news. Love and Hugs, JB
Terry Crow
Here’s hoping you are right, Vicki. Pets are precious.
pamhomeier
Vicki give Cotton a chance to come back. Our wonderful orange boy(aged 12) disappeared a few years ago and was gone for 9 days. I cried every day for our sweet Ollie. Then one evening we were watching tv and he appeared at the front door! We think maybe he got shut accidently in a neighbors shed and maybe they left on vacation. Who knows. If only he could talk. Actually he did talk but I think he wanted real kitty food!
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
Vicki, I have heard of animals, dogs & cats, showing up much later than they normally would. hugs, SallyB
Max
Cotton. Enough with the walkabout. Time to hightail it home to Vicki.

It is good to be with my old friends again. My “health” problem has been temporarily resolved, hopefully for good. I was participating in an Alzheimers study at UCLA and it took all of my time but the latest brain scans have been very good compared to what they were when I entered the program. I am taking some investigational medicine, the only drawback being that I have to get it at UCLA. I went to Riverside National Cemetery yesterday to participate in the veterans’ ceremonies and was lucky enough to be able to recite the names of some of the loved ones of individuals here on the blog. You know who you are. I am back, I hope. Will close with a joke I heard on Hee Haw, one of my favorites. Junior Samples, one of the regulars on the show, came into the hotel. The clerk looked down at his feet and noticed that he had only one shoe on. The clerk said, “Junior, it looks like you lost one of your shoes.” Junior replied, “Nope. Found one.” Judy–sorry to hear about Dubai.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Glad to have you back TC. Bravo for the improved test results (just wish they had happened soon enough for you to join us at the BC!). Our family has been in bit of periodic disarray so this is a good omen for getting back on track!
Terry Crow
Sandy-Missing the BC was a big disappointment. First one I have missed when the races were held in SoCal. I attended the first BC, which was held at Hollywood Park.

Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Terry c.,
Welcome back home! I sure am glad we left the light on for you. So happy that you are doing well, and a big thank you for the joke, too. We have certainly been in need of the legendary TC humor and wisdom. You have helped us feel the sunlight again!
