Happy Friday!
There isn’t any baby news to report, but we’re having a great time with Zenyatta this week. The weather has been beautiful in Kentucky, and she’s as relaxed as ever.
Here are a few photos from the past two days on the farm. We’ll have some new photos of 12Z tomorrow—and of course we’ll post as soon as there’s big news!
Enjoy!

A Poem for Z-sters on Foal Watch
(March 30, 2013)
Today
In a way
We’re participating
In an Easter egg hunt
Of our own,
Anxiously anticipating
The imminent birth
Of the foal which inside Z has grown
From an egg sown
With help from the Tapper.
We’re hoping the foal and its wrapper
Will exeunt
From Z’s ample girth
Into the light of day
Without much further delay,
For each morning we early arise,
Quite sleep-deprived,
Rub our tired eyes,
And to our computers lurch
To continue our search
For news that the foal has arrived…
Happy foal watch to all!
Arlene

Ah Trina, such a TOO CUTE poem! And it captures the current moments for all of us so perfectly!
Dear Zenny: That is one big belly I see in that photo with Jerry’s hand on your hip. Looks like a bit of a shift from the others I’ve looked at this past couple of days. Maybe an Easter bunny baby for you? Or your very own Birthday present and a memorable April Fool’s for all of us? We patiently – okay, that’s a lie – wait for great news!

Hi Trina,
Just lurched to my computer, to paraphrase, and found your wonderful poem. You should collect them all together and publish them, esp. the Zenyatta-related ones. We’d all buy such a collection.
Somehow, I missed these great photos yesterday in my quick check-ins while doing other things. I’ve got to tutor this afternoon and this morning, I have to wash the dishes as I have no clean spoons left. LOL

Lovely poem. How we love our Zenyatta.

You are so gracious to provide these wonderful updates and photos. Thank you for sharing these intimate moments; you obviously have a very special bond with her. I will enjoy watching 12 z’s progress when he comes of racing age. He could be the next superstar. It must be very difficult to decide which stallion to breed with. I thank you for your kindness in sharing.

Wow, Wow, Wow. So Happy, That’s My Boy Animal Kingdom….Love Ya Huge Congratulation. Leroi I love Ya. Animal Kingdom You just did great. Can You tell I’m just over the moon.

That was a terrific race. I’m so happy for Animal Kingdom and his connections. Wow!
Max
Peggy (N). Glad for you to see Leroi’s boy, AK, do it. He’s worked hard for this win and he deserves it. The English papers say that it was a commanding victory by this grand ole chestnut.
Did you also hear that Orfevre’s stablemate and rival, Gentildonna, was second to St. Nicholas Abbey in the Sheema Classic?
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max, Yes I dd see Gentidonna, i was actually pulling for her to win. Even though she did beat my boy last year. Lo. Nicholas Abbey did run well though didn’t he.
I have been just feeling Ak had another great race in him. Just had a feeling he was going to run big again. This race today reminded me of the Kentucky Derby win. When I saw he drew post l2. I just wondered well could he do it again. Just had a good feeling about him. So hope he came out of the race well.
How do you think he can do at Royal Ascot. I am not as familiar with R. Ascot.
I heard them referring to him being as Australian based horse a number of times. Was a little sad about that. I know I guess that’s actually true now. But I’m so proud he was born here.
Love my Boy Leroi.
Max
Peggy (N). He was really flying on that tapeta. I would sure not bet against him at Ascot. His daddy Leroi won on turf, in fact he won the Woodbine Mile by a record margin and weight, a record which together, I think, still stands. He’s now Australian on paper, but Animal Kingdom is still definitely a US bred horse.
Max
Peggy (N). Here’s the video of the Sheema with Gentildonna in second. St Nick ran a good race for Coolmore.

Keta Note: Peggy, what a race!! So proud of Leroi’s kid.
Concerned about Royal Delta–she lead and finished 3rd from last
Dullahan finished 2nd from last.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio) PUR
High hoof to Animal Kingdom and his connections! I’m always glad when one of our Zenters is over the moon with a win so WOO HOO Peggy!
On the other hand, what in the world happened to our other two stars??? Doolie, I thought this might have been your race :-(
Sandy (Northeast Ohio) PUR
Zensters – not Zenters!!!! Stupid computer!
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Sandy
Thank You, I am just as happy for leroi too. This family can just seem to run on everything. Leroi’s little filly. We’ve got another beauty Up and Coming too.

Hope Royal Delta is okay. I thing some of the American horses just don’t like that racing surface. Good for AK. Too bad he is going to Australia for his first season. I am sure he will be well taken care of but would just love to see him somewhere here like Three Chimneys or Lanes End.
Max
Here’s the video. Animal Kingdom was on fire.

Hello again,
Trina, Thanks for the ManOWar poem.
Zenyatta, I must repeat Janet Newman’s line from a couple days ago “A master piece always takes time to be perfect and your little Tapestry is going to be a work of equine perfection.”

Big hug to all of you!
So sad for Royal Delta.
Congratulations to Animal Kingdom, to the owner PLEASE, keep him here in US, I think this is the reason those other countries have better horses is because our great horses get ship over seas!

If wishes could only come true, then Z’s new foal will be born on Z’s and my birthday, April 1. If I could only be there when it happens, it would make this soon-to-be 83-year-old’s heart sing!!!!!

I share Zenny’s birthday, too! Maybe she really is holding out for that day. Boy, that would really be something special!

Dear Trina,
Thanks so much for the Man O’ War poem; it really was moving. So glad to have gotten to read it.
Thank you, too, for your poem about waiting for Zenyatta’s foal. Good job!!

Happy Easter Everyone. Have a blessed day.

Vicki B near Hollywood Park and Trina, thanks for the Man O’ War poem, don’t want to forget! Also, for honoring the great Secretariat’s b/day. Yes, his name is always spoken with reverence.
THANKS once again to TEAM Z for the on-going photos and updates. We love it all!
And, hoofray and high hoof to Animal Kingdom!! I heard on morning radio show today that owner Barry Irwin was critical of Joel’s ride. Really?!? But then, what else is new? When A.K. won the KY Derby B.I was very rude to the media, which resulted in my writing a cranky (LOL) Letter to the Editor of the now–sigh–defunct Thoroughbred Times. This is his usual M.O. As host Mike W said, Joel can turn a deaf ear since he is flying home $600,000 richer.
I have many thoughts about John’s change of venue, but I’ll wait to express them, as right now they are all over the place.
OKAY ZENYATTA, what are you waiting for, Christmas? Oh that’s right, probably your birthday! BE WELL and SAFE! We are all waiting with you. :-)
