Happy Birthday to Songbird and to the brave Barbaro in heaven. She brought joy to our hearts and he broke them. RIP Big D. You won’t be forgotten either.

Got to say I am happy with the post the He Who Cannot Be Named, Omaha Beach, drew. I hate to stick with the favorite, but I picked him after the Rebel. He is built like a tank! Also, like WinWinWin. Grandson of two Derby winners and his mom has a cool name.

Safe trip to all the horses and jockeys.

Bummer! Omaha Beach scratched from the Derby! He is out, poor Tax is coming out of gate #2. I am left with no one but WinWinWin. Could be worse each of his grandfathers were Derby winners. Sunday Silence and Smarty Jones. Pretty Good. Saves we a 30 mile trip to bet.

        Judy,
I have learned my lesson. I will not breathe the name of my pick until they open the starting gate. The imps of Derby misfortune seem to be lurking and waiting for me to say the name.

Godspeed to all of the horses and jockeys. Mike has another Derby mount but there is some controversy about another jockey being taken off at this late date.

Well, I hope that He Who Cannot Be Named has a great trip. Safe and sound all.

Shirlee, I didn’t expect Mikey to be riding in the Derby either. I was surprised, but I’m guessing that CL and his agent would have had to agree to the change and compensated accordingly as well I would think. Love and Hugs, JB

The short guy has retired after winning on Kemboy today.I will always remember his victories on our beloved Kauto Star.Yes there were the final hurdle falls but his record at the Festival was second to none. The winners more than I can remember really.I especially loved Annie Power’s Champion Hurdle win.He will always be remembered as one of the greats and although he was about 5ft 10ins he is forever the short guy.Enjoy your retirement with your lovely family Gillian and the girlsX
