We are so excited to announce another Zenyatta Celebration! Like the last celebration this sticker is going to be sold on Lane’s End Farm’s online gift shop and will be available starting Monday, October 31st! As always Every sticker purchased will enter you into a raffle to win a private visit with Zenyatta, and a tour of Lane’s End Farm! This year we will be drawing 10 lucky winners live on Facebook Monday November 7th (1:00pm EST)!!

This Year’s Limited Edition Sticker was designed by Nicole Berry- She has created a beautiful Pink and Navy Sticker that includes, of course, a Picture of Zenyatta.

We are excited to announce that 100% of this year’s proceeds will go to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program! New Vocations has a long history of offering retiring racehorses a new purpose as they enter the next phase of their careers. Started in 1992, they have focused on offering a safe haven through rehabilitation, retraining, and ultimately rehoming to qualified and loving adopters.     Did anyone see the article about the horse Dead Solid Perfect,who just passed away at 39 and 188 days? Bless his heart and Rest In Peace.

    Tap the Gavel is having issues,and will have those looked at. He will also give up the family jewels. Ahem.

    Mo Temptation is also having problems,and will take time off from training. Darn, they were just talking about putting her in a race.

    I have expressed interest in a yearling colt by Justify.

      Yes, Judy B. sent me the link to the BloodHorse article about Dead Solid Perfect. Wow, 39 years and 188 days old!!!! So glad he had a loving owner who adored him! RIP handsome boy. Check out the BloodHorse article, everybody — sorry, I don’t have the link handy.

      It was such a wonderful treat watching Lava, Harley, and all of the Ponies.
      Kudos to Sabas Rivera on his fine training of The Coach. Not even in that barn and miss him already.
      But….read somewhere that Harley’s baby brother is now in training and will soon join the crew!
      Wonder how Lava Man reacted to the snow?

    The announcement was made on LEFB this AM. I believe seven women and three men were chosen. I didn’t recognize anyone from the blog. The audio was poor. They raised $12k and seemed to be happy with that amount. Lindal.

      Thanks for this link, too. OMG, Jaime Corum has again done a magnificent rendering!! Totally awesome — you can almost feel Secretariat’s warm breath and expect him and Ron to leap to the ground — that’s just from viewing it on my computer screen! Imagine the effect in real life!

      Thanks so much for posting this, Judy! I came across it in Thoroughbred Daily News and came here to post a link — you beat me to it! I love the Mig and I listened to him talking about this problem during the summer meet at Saratoga. I’ve posted on this blog before about how dangerous Irad’s riding style is. The Mig is right on: it’s the NYRA stewards’ fault for not enforcing the rules. I was enraged many times this summer when Irad got away with egregious infractions that would have given other jockeys suspensions… why??? I shuddered when Mig asked, “Are we going to wait until someone gets killed?” He’s proof positive how courageous jockeys are!

        I agree with everything you posted. I have become so annoyed and disturbed by reckless aggressive riding, especially Irad’s, and this style is occurring more frequently. Wake up, stewards!

    Dear Marshall, Dee and Z Fans:

    Agree with all you’ve both said.

    Mig, as a successful jockey himself, knows first hand the risks of racing without being reckless.

    He also was one of my favorite riders because he truly cared about his mounts. He still works to promote the welfare of our beloved horses; horses still racing and OTTBs. Admire him very much.

    A TOAST TO RACING Merry Christmas to one and all. Think of decking stalls instead of halls. Think of Happy Birthday to horses that race. May they be safe as they run for first place. Think of the foals on their way, whose coming delights us and make our day. Think of another Triple Crown with a horse that is chestnut, gray or brown. HAPPY RACING TO ALL! It’s been winter here since October with more snow coming tomorrow and forecasts predict it to last through Thursday. Hope everyone is tucked in tight if their experiencing the very same plight. To everyone may I say Good Night.
