Happy Monday!
Our first ever Zenyatta.com Celebration happened over Breeders’ Cup weekend in November 2013. Through the sales of our limited edition Celebration Sticker and the auction of Zenyatta memorabilia, we raised money for Thoroughbred Rehab Center, Inc. The final donation totaled $12,000, and we have all of you to thank for your support and generosity!
As our Grand Prize, we picked five fans in a random drawing to win an invitation to visit Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm. Each winner was able to travel with their friend of choice and meet Zenyatta, 13Z and receive a tour of Lane’s End. These photos by Alys Emson document their visits.
View the complete set of photos from these visits in our Zenyatta.com Celebration Photo Gallery.
Enjoy!

Thank you Team Z for these wonderful, heartwarming pictures…….The Queen meets her subjects…….what a Grand Dame she is now with two and a half babies. She always has such a kind eye and a sweet look on her face……gone are the days with fire in the eyes at the racetrack. So blessed are we to share so much of her life, the Mosses have set a president for all other owners of famous mares who retire and more and more are following suit. Some day maybe I’ll get to stand next to this Queen of the track, meanwhile, I really am happy for those that won. hugs to all
Love and kisses mama Zen to you and baby, sweet Red, handsome CoZ, and a kiss to my beloved Indy.

Back in 2011 we wanted so badly to see Zenyatta while we were visiting Kentucky for the Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs. Lane’s End told us, no way or would we even be able to get close enough to her paddock to take some shots with a camera that has telephoto lenses on it.
I compare this way of addressing fans wishes who want a visit with Zen and how Miss Penny Chenery addressed the wishes of fans who wanted a visit with the immortal Secretariat. It is as different as night and day between the two. Secretariat was seen by over 40 people every day at Claiborne Farm ( the maximum amount they could handle), while he was alive, not to mention the many visitors who lined the fence outside the farm along the country road to see him in his paddock. In fact, in later years, there were so many problems with cars parked on both sides of the road that it created issues with local traffic being able to get through, all because so many wanted to just see Secretariat. The fence was, thereafter, changed so you couldn’t see through it to solve the issue.
If anyone set a precedence for how owners of famous race horses should act and respond to the requests of fans everywhere, it was Miss Chenery. An example that the Mosses could learn from.

I just have to tell you I so much agree with ALL of your comment.

My wife Bettie loves “Z” and her birthday is Valentines day. Is there any way she could get to see her favorite horse?
tony
Every picture is fantastic. I only wish I was in one of them. Thanks Team Z for being so generous with the fans.
Judy
I love that both Zenny and 13Z are muddy in some of the shots! They’re allowed just to be “horses” sometimes, and go for a good roll!
13Z is absolutely gorgeous. It looks like Zenny is consistently throwing her size to her offspring. And Zenny herself is looking radiant! Can’t wait for a healthy, happy 14Z

These five lucky fans were in the presence of greatness with Zenyatta. I have never seen a more loving horse and one who seems to thrive on human contact. How blessed we are to be part of her extended family. Team Z, I hope this is just one of many opportunities to meet our beloved Zenny. I can’t stop smiling when I see these pics…especially the one at the beginning of this blog. I wonder if she felt movement from the yet to be born, 14Z.

heart-melting photos!! Thank you, Team Z. Zenyatta’s looking at Lisa Myers seems to be conveying the most incredible tenderness. Seeing that really brought tears to my eyes.

We noticed her soft, sweet look, too. Can we love her anymore than we already do? We think not.

Hi Zenny…..I can tell you are in great good health ….
Red is going like a weed…..gonna be a big boy….
I spend the day at Oaklawn ….70 and sunny…
lots of beautiful horses….great racing ….
But….not one of them can hold a candle to you….
….
Remember last yr…..talking about Oxbow’s color…..saw another one today …
Z Lucky is his name…I think he is registered gray ….but I will check..
he is 3yr and broke last from gate… trailed field most of race….closed like a freight train and won…..sound familiar
….
love you

Dear Carol:
Wow, Z Lucky lived up to the Z part of his name. He is registered Gray. Love and Hugs, JB
carol in arkansas
Interesting that Lucas trained Ox and now has Z Lucky…..saw Ox last yr at this time…got within 3 ft of him….this yr got same distance from Z Lucky…to me ….they looked to be about the same color…
Ann NC
Glad you had an exciting and beautiful day!

carol. Strange. Jockey Club calls Ox a bay, and this fellow a gray. I trust your observations that they are the same. Lukas also thinks that Ox is a roan or gray, although how that can happen with two bay parents is hard to understand. Genetically, it is not supposed to happen. Ox may be a rule breaker. Always love a maverick.

Queen Z: I just got my 2014 Santa Anita Racetrack calendar. You are pictured in there, via your wonderful statue at the track. I sure miss seeing you run. But am looking forward to seeing your first-born son on the track. Hugs and kisses!!!

I’ve seen some promos for it – sounds interesting, but the channel isn’t included in my package. It would be nice if DirecTV had a few less duplications and a few more real channels :-(

Dear Judy, I can not wait!!!!!!

What a beautiful creature. I sure wish she was still racing. I am a harness fan but when you get a chance to see a once in a life time type of animal you just can’t get enough of them. I sure wish I could feel what mike smith felt when he was riding her, had to be such a rush. Sure hope one of her babies can continue her legacy.

Thank-you so much for the photos What can one say about our Fabulous Z that hasn’t , already been said. She looks great and happy. I’am hoping for a baby girl this time, but if it’s a boy that will be ok to. I just want them both to be safe and sound. Z 13 is absolutely Stunning, he looks like he will be a big boy He should be heading to Florida in late Summer? What can you say about Coz? I see he indeed has some of his Mother’s personality who else would hold their own lead and take themselves back to their own stall? He looks to be some what of a playful ham.I can’t wait to see him perform. Thanks again for the posts will be checking back in a few days for more updates
