Zenyatta Delivers a Candy Ride Filly

VERSAILLES, KY — (May 17, 2020) Zenyatta gave birth to a chestnut filly by Candy Ride this morning at Lane’s End Farm. The foal, Zenyatta’s sixth, arrived at 5:40 a.m. ET, weighing 148 lbs. She has one hind sock and a star.

Zenyatta and her filly are both in excellent health following an easy delivery. It brings us such joy to see them bonding in their paddock on this beautiful day.

We would like to express a sincere thank you to Zenyatta’s veterinary team and staff at Lane’s End for their dedication to the wellbeing of Zenyatta and her new foal.

        Dear Ann,

        I just checked to see what you meant regarding Max Player. Poor guy gets uprooted being sent to CD and to a new trainer. Steve Asmussen is very good, but Max Player has done so well with Linda Rice and undoubtedly is used to her and her staff — Kudos to them. Timing seems off, IMO.

        Hope he settles in and continues improving — mostly I hope he is happy.

      Thanks for the great news about Steve Haskin! I read the news article and his first article for Secretariat.com about Eddie Sweat — absolutely brilliant as always! It brought tears to my eyes. So glad to know that we will be able to hear from him regularly again. Wonderful news indeed.

      I just checked on the Forum too and saw a post that indicates Z was bred back to Candy Ride. I guess we should look for an official announcement in BloodHorse, DRF and the Paulick Report or a post from Team Z. Love and Hugs, JB

    Happy Friday everyone! Lot of stressors out there for those with children (and especially children who are athletes) not to mention teachers, coaches, administrators, bus drivers, custodians, etc. etc. I am just SO glad that I am too old to be in the thick of this personally and send best wishes to those of you who are!

    Hovey had a fairly quiet week (and no invites to the Pony Club). When you read about his hack with Bob and the mums, you need to remember that MAMILS are “Middle Aged Men in Lycra” (typically on bicycles).

      Thanks a million for the “Hovis Report” — hilarious as usual! I just had a fun thought — what if CNN, MSNBC, FNC and all 24/7 news outlets were replaced with HNN, the Hovis Network News? The world would be much happier, IMO❣️ After all, it seems horse news is generally a lot nicer than human news.

    Have been patiently waiting for this foal to be born. Zenny has had some pretty emotional years with her foals. Now we have another absolutely beautiful filly on the ground and doing so well. Her Mom ever so vigilant. I thought of a perfect name right off CANYATTA. Just saying.

    Feeling so sad that Winx lost her first filly. I’m sure we Zenyatta fans can feel the pain as we did with the loss of Zenyatta’s filly and then also the baby colt.
    Sending prayers for the Winx family and praying for Winx’s health.
