VERSAILLES, KY — (May 17, 2020) Zenyatta gave birth to a chestnut filly by Candy Ride this morning at Lane’s End Farm. The foal, Zenyatta’s sixth, arrived at 5:40 a.m. ET, weighing 148 lbs. She has one hind sock and a star.
Zenyatta and her filly are both in excellent health following an easy delivery. It brings us such joy to see them bonding in their paddock on this beautiful day.
We would like to express a sincere thank you to Zenyatta’s veterinary team and staff at Lane’s End for their dedication to the wellbeing of Zenyatta and her new foal.

Was just reading about that race. Candy won that one. Wow!
He was 6 for 6 in his career. In his last race against Md’O he was ridden by the great Julie Krone. Jerry Bailey rode Md’O. He was retired to stud early due to an ankle injury.

The pictures are so precious. Sweet bonding moments between Zenyatta and precious filly. I am so glad the foaling went so well. Just heard that they scheduled the Belmont Stakes for June 20th, and they shortened it!
Instead of the 1 1/2 mile distance, it will be 1 1/4 mile. Not sure what the thinking is, but it’s a bit odd. I’m sure they have their reasons.
Sure hope conditions will allow the Belmont to occur. Best of Luck and Best of Health to all!

Yes, I heard that as well. What a crazy year…the usual LAST triple crown race will be first this year. The Kentucky Derby will be September 5th, and then the Preakness will be October 3rd. Safe trips for all the horses that will run!

Think we just have to go with “there is nothing normal about this year.” I guess they didn’t want these babies to have to run a mile and half for the FIRST one of the “triple crown” races. If it had stayed at that length with the current schedule, the last race would be the shortest rather than the longest.
