Zenyatta Delivers a Candy Ride Filly

Zenyatta and her Candy Ride filly. Alys Emson

VERSAILLES, KY — (May 17, 2020) Zenyatta gave birth to a chestnut filly by Candy Ride this morning at Lane’s End Farm. The foal, Zenyatta’s sixth, arrived at 5:40 a.m. ET, weighing 148 lbs. She has one hind sock and a star.

Zenyatta and her filly are both in excellent health following an easy delivery. It brings us such joy to see them bonding in their paddock on this beautiful day.

We would like to express a sincere thank you to Zenyatta’s veterinary team and staff at Lane’s End for their dedication to the wellbeing of Zenyatta and her new foal.

Thanks for posting this tribute to beautiful Arrogate. There are many who are devastated — much too young to leave us. So sorry that this magnificent stallion has been lost.

      Dear Judy,

Thanks for trying to find something on Horologist. Hope this means that her being pulled up in the Santa Maria was precautionary and that injury, if any, is minor. Thanks to Flavien Pratt for noticing that something seemed off.

Thanks again — I knew you would know where to look for information, Judy. ?

    Judy,
Thanks for posting the tribute to Arrogate. Mike seems to really love the horses he rides often. I can’t wait to see how the Arrogate/Songbird foal turns out. With those bloodlines should be something special.

I saw a post on Facebook from Bob B about your boy Max. He had his first work with Baffert and seems to be doing well. I hope things go well for Max. He is a talented horse and should do well with Bob.

    Happy Friday everyone!
Glad to post a bit of humor at the end of another very stressful week across the land. Hovey and a friend went out for a hack with their mums. Needless to say, his version is . . . . well . . . . ummmm . . . . slightly different from what his mum had previously posted on his FB page :-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Will be SO exciting to see “our John’s” Honor A.P. finally get his chance to get some Derby points as he takes on Authentic and others tomorrow in the Santa Anita Derby. GO GO GO beautiful boy!!

Thanks again for our weekly dose of sanity with Hovis! Hovis certainly is not “. . . fading faster than a fake tan in lockdown . . .”! He gets funnier and is definitely the Master of Metaphor — e.g. the intoxicated arachnid on ice! Brilliant!
      ?

Good luck to Honor A.P. and JS tomorrow!

    Dear Shirlee, Sandy and ZFans:

Shirlee and Sandy, I know you’ve seen this little guy before. Don’t know how you feel, but it’s a little scary for me watching him. Wanted to share this video of him taken on 5/11/20 when he was just 5 days old with our Z Family.

Have never seen a foal this young move like this. His name is Third Act and he is the third foal by Kitten’s Joy out of the mare Devine Actress. His full brothers are Oscar Nominated and Oscar Performance. Can’t imagine what a handful he’s gonna be at five months. Mama seems unphased. Bet he sleeps well.
