VERSAILLES, KY — (April 11, 2016) Zenyatta delivered her fourth foal last night, April 10. She broke water at approximately 9:00 pm and foaled at 9:24 pm, delivering a handsome bay colt by War Front. We are just enamored with him, and so is Zenyatta.
For the most part Zenyatta’s foaling was uneventful and by the book, however the foal was born meconium stained. Meconium staining is an occasional event at foaling in which aspiration can occur, irritating the lungs. As a precaution and on the recommendation of the attending veterinarians, both mare and foal were taken to the clinic for close observation and treatment.
Zenyatta is bright and alert and is in excellent health following the foaling. She and her foal are in good spirits and developing a strong bond. As always, she is a great mother. Currently the foal can stand and move around the stall with minimal assistance. The pair will stay at the clinic where they will get the best possible care and attention. The foal will be watched closely for 48 hours for any changes. If he continues to do well, both Zenyatta and her foal will be able to return to the farm shortly.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Lane’s End staff, veterinarians and everyone who provided such excellent care for Zenyatta and her new colt.

Lots of excitement with the ospreys. Looking forward to the Dyfi eggs! It would be nice to have access tot he ratties’ trabel juice. They need to get back to their internashunal bizness. They don’t want to lose out! Gizmo is a very inspirational little dog in high places. Zoe has a right to be so proud. Sorry to hear of Mr. Ernie’s passing. Congratulations to James and Bob! Remarkable! Exciting to hear about what’s in store for Warren Place. Have a good Hump Day. Love and hugs from me, kisses fron Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
I am praying that the new colt and his beautiful mom will be back at the farm very soon, and that he will have overcome the breathing problem by now. This morning, I thought about what name I would give a colt out of Zenyatta, and it occurs to me that the name of “Commander Zeus” would be fitting for him. What are your thoughts?
Good morning Team Z. Have had you, Zenny, Z16 and Miss Violet in my thoughts. Hoping everything is progressing well. Love to all.
Just would like to say congratz to the Big Momma, wishing you and your new boy only the best.

Good morning Zenny and baby boy. Hope all is going well and you’ll be back home soon. We’re sort of back to pacing here. Sending prayers and lots of love ❤️❤️
What a beautiful colt Z16 is. I just adore watching them grow and run around with Momma very close by. I think it was Coz who as a cute little guy used to like to run around squealing.
Hopefully Zenny and her new little one will be home soon and then the fun begins for everyone, including us her with pictures of course.
Saying prayers for them.
I’m just heartbroken at the loss of Z’s beautiful Warfront cokt. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of the connections.
So sorry to hear the news. Breaks my heart …. Prayers sent to The Moss family and Lanes End. love and kindness sent ………Julie
My mom and I were talking about the birth of this baby shortly before she died in September. It was a hard day today, we would have been on the phone crying about the loss of this baby. Both of us have Z’s gold embossed print with the signatures of her entire team. I have mine at my house and her’s is still with my dad. Is there a way to reach out to the Moss family to see if they would want it as a fundraising item?
I’m in tears. What a gorgeous little colt and Zenyatta was such a great mother–she really loved him. Poor girl must be grieving like any mother would be. Pray they stay close to Zenyatta and comfort her during this awful time. Animals grieve just like we do. Wish I was there to comfort her. My heart goes out to Zenyatta and her entire team. Fly with the angels, little one until we see you again in Heaven.
So sad, so sorry to hear. I love you “Z”.
