Dear Sheena:
So sorry to hear that Blue 24 is back. I was hoping Glesni would be able to tend to her nest in peace. Hope she comes back and regains control of the situation. Sorry about Quevega losing too. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Ruby, Diamond and all the Sweeties

@Terry Crow–your comment about Facebook made me think of myself. I do have a FB page, but I have yet to join the smart phone/debit card gang! And Sandy can tell you how inept I am with computers, especially trying to load pictures. Hopeless.

Terry, I went to face book and signed up because I thought that was the way to Zenyatta’s facebook as I know NOTHING about this stuff. I do not go on facebook otherwise except for personal friend contact when received. All I need is my email and my Zenyatta blog and I am happy!! Sally B

Barbara and Sally-I honestly feel that Facebook is evil, especially for young people. Too much posing. Or, I am just an old fogey.

@ Terry Crow,
I answered your question about Rags to Riches, but in case you do not want to go back that far. She did win the Belmont that year and beat Curlin. A great achievement
considering she nearly fell on her face coming out of the gate.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Janet:
Rags to Riches’ (Johnny V aboard) win in the 2007 Belmont is right up there with Afleet Alex in the 2005 Preakness and Z’s making up 28 lengths in the 2010 BCC. Amazing. Here’s the replay of the 2007 Belmont. Love and Hugs, JB

Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Janet:
You’re so welcome. Z’s effort in the 2010 BCC was the most breathtaking race I, personally, have ever seen. Heartbreaking, yes, but the most splendid effort ever. Love and Hugs, JB
Terry Crow
Janet-Thanks you. I will go back and look at the original post. The problem I had with running Rags to Riches in the Belmont , at the time, is that it might knock her out for future races. Turned out that way. Shame.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Terry & Max
What do you think about California Chrome drawing post 5. I’ve been wondering if to be worried. I was wanting him to draw about number l0, I just wanted him over a little more. Just worried a little about him getting squeezed in there. What do you guys think.
What do you think about Calvin Bo Rail on Ride on Curlin. Do you think he can get over to the rail. I don’t know, That’s a long ways, but I’ve seen him ride wonderfully in Kentucky. It”s on the edge of your seats for sure.
I think there should be a bet on just if Calvin can get over there.
Max
Peggy. Anything can happen. A lot is luck because there is plenty of talent in the field. These are young horses who are full of surprises. I’m going with Big D’s boys for sentimental reasons. You just never know.
Terry Crow
I do wish he was a little farther outside but he has speed enough to escape being trapped. As for Calvin, he will have to be a magician is he is set on reaching the rail. A lot of ground will have to be sacrificed.

Sorry, this is not a free live streaming video of the races. It’s contingent on opening an account for wagering. Didn’t realize that when I first entered the website. They’re rather misleading and loose with the term “free live video”. I’ll see if I can find access another way to Gabby’s race. Love and Hugs, JB

Mucho Macho Man Honored in Georgia
By Blood-Horse Staff May 1, 2014
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal proclaimed Thursday, May 1, as “Mucho Macho Man Day” in the state.
Campaigned by the Suwanee, Ga.-based Reeves Thoroughbreds operation of Dean and Patti Reeves, Mucho Macho Man made history with his game victory in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) as Kathy Ritvo became the first female to trainer a winner of the race.
The horse, who has won or placed in 20 of 25 starts and earned $5,625,410, will retire to Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs near Paris, Ky., at the conclusion of his racing career.

Dear BlueGrass Girrl
I just heard about this tonight. I think it is wonderful. Love this boy.
They are also trying to bring racing to Georgia. Sure wish we would get a track. I think there is a legislation that has to pass first I think. They are looking more optomistic about it. It would bring a lot of money in, but then there are those that I know will fight it big time. But you look at the fact that all we have to do is go to close by Florida or Kentucky to go to the races and they get our money there.
I would think that the Reeves would definately be for it. There is some sort of partnership I think beginning with The Reeves and Old Friends/Michael Blowen, but don’t know enough about it to comment. It is something to do with Thoroughbreds

Thank you Vicki! Loved watching Coz!!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Vicki B.:
Thank you, thank you. What a character COZ is. He’s just a rebellious teenager. Loved seeing him again running and squealing in the paddock when he was little. As Max said, really good, he’s a biter! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. The best thing about the video is that you get to see Coz in action biting that reporter. He’s very good at it. He has beautiful teeth too.
He’s also like Northern Dancer. ND like Coz did not bite women or children. I recall a story about a visit to the Dancer by EP Taylor’s wife and a little girl. The Dancer was very well behaved, and let the girl pet him and fed him mints. When they left, the grooms who had seen this unfold thought that the Dancer had suddenly mellowed and approached him. He immediately bit them. Love that story.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I remember reading that story about ND too. I bet COZ associates women with the kindness and love of his Mom, Ann. Oh, if COZ is as feisty and confident on the track, we are in for a real treat. Love and Hugs, JB

Judy-Let’s face it. Women are just nicer and better people than men. Horses sense that.

Dear Max,
Thanks for our Hovis update. Stay far, far away from Botox, Hovis. We want you to be able to smile and not to have a “surprised look” all the time. Better stay away from “little ginger dude” while you’re at it. A high profile horse like yourself has to protect your public image. Enjoy the Derby, everyone. Go California Chrome!

May 2 Cherokee Devotional
Is it true that if we get past this one hard place, all our problems will be solved? But each day has its share of such places-if not in our lives, then in the lives of those we care so much about. We are so interchangeably connected that whatever touches one of us touches us all. A ne lv to di, one strong effort, one day at a time, one step, one question. Are we reliable? Or do we get other people to cover our tracks so that we can go on doing what we want to do? When a hard spot, a habit, an addiction dogs our tracks, it is because we have not made up our minds to turn around and face it. Trying to make it acceptable only robs us of what we need most of all-to love ourselves and to respect ourselves. But we cannot do it alone. Only the Great Holy Spirit, and He alone, can give us the power.
The Great Spirit does right. He knows what is best for His children.
