BGG, Just watched the replay of the Rebel. Wow, what a finish. My apologies to Strong Mandate. It looked like a free for all at the finish. Looked as if Tapiture had a really rough trip there at the end.
Bluegrass Girl
It was quite a bumpy ride to the finish line.
There were multiple inquiries. The results did not change.

JudyB. That’s Abby! He casually trotted off after his fall that took out Ruby. However, injuries can show up later, so that I hope that he’s okay. His stablemate, Adriana des Mottes, kicked Ruby on her way over the hurdle, and tossed off her jockey, Paul Townsend. Paul was only sore from his fall. I think that she’s okay too. She races in the same colors as Annie Power.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
You’re so right. Sometimes an injury is not immediately noted. Hope Abby is OK and Adrianna as well. Guess Paul T. was lucky, unlike Ruby. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. I was reading about one of Kauto’s falls. He bruised his back and stretched some muscles, which only showed up the next day. He could not bend down to eat from his manger. It took two weeks before he could bend his neck to graze. Abby took a big fall in this race at Cheltenham, but he did get up right away and gallop off. I don’t think that Adriana fell. She only unseated Paul and hoofed Ruby. Strange thing is that these were the only horses to put their hooves to Ruby. All of the others missed him. He is lucky.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Ruby is very lucky, indeed. Don’t know if you remember a jockey who rode the New York Circuit. His name is Robbie Davis. The article below is his story. A horse he was riding struck a jockey who had fallen from his mount right in the path of RD’s mount. It’s a reminder of just how unpredictable and dangerous riding can be. RD has six children, three of which have chosen to follow in his footsteps; Jacqueline, Katie and Dylan Davis.
RD is currently a trainer at Aqueduct and his daughter Katie rode his most recent entry on 3/15/14, Jack’s R Wild; they finished third.

Kathy
March 16 Cherokee Devotional
It seems there is often too much of one thing and not enough of the other. Balance has a way of disappearing when we need it most. But it is our fault for thinking that once we have all things working together it will stay in balance without our having to do anything else. Nothing is so set that it will never change. We should never give in to challenges that throw us off center. Wait a little while. Something may be working that we don’t know about. Don’t accept everything as it appears. It can change in a moment’s notice and swing our way. Very often the law of nonresistance is at work here. Some of our best decisions are based on standing still until we can get a true picture.
When life is easy, complex patterns of life can develop.

“Don’t cry for the horses
That life has set free
A million white horses
Forever to be
Don’t cry for the horses
Now in God’s hands
As they dance and they prance
To a heavenly band
They were ours as a gift
But never to keep
As they close their eyes
Forever to sleep
Their spirits unbound
On silver wings they fly
A million white horses
Against the blue sky
Look up into heaven
You’ll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved
Manes and tails flowing
They Gallop through time
They were never yours
They were never mine
Don’t cry for the horses
They will be back someday
When our time has come
They will show us the way”

Dear Kathy. Welcome home! Hope you had a great time with Steve and the furbabies! That poem! so beautiful, thinking of the horses that died at Cheltenham. If you notice my posts to Max it was certainly a dramatic week for horses and riders to say the least.I went up on the Tuesday, was great to see “my” boys Kauto and Denman parading and Quevega making history what a mare!had a wonderful time.
Happy birthday to Boo he’ll soon have II million friends!Poor Gizmo and his sister Cooper were attacked by a much larger dog this week, thank goodness no serious damage but Cooper is taking longer to recover.Fubu is visiting the vet tomorrow ,he can’t meow very much anymore but is still eating his kitty gravy.Marty is his usual very funny self.Have a wonderful Sabbath.Hugs to you,Kisses for the Puppy Pack.Sheena.

Dear Sheena,
Thanks! It’s good to be back. So nice to get away, but comforting to be back in my normal routine as well. So glad you were able to go up to Cheltenham. I have a lot of catching up to do with the FB furbabies. Doesn’t Zoe look fabulous in her darling St. Paddy’s Day finery? Sorry to hear of Gizmo and Cooper being attacked. Many a small dog is killed by a larger dog. Glad Fubu is still eating. You know the end is near when they stop taking nourishment. Marty is a cutie. He makes me smile without fail. Have a beautiful Sabbath. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Sheena. Happy for you that you got to see The Tank and the Living Legend, and enjoyed your trip. I’m posting a photo of Kauto for you and so that others can see your favorite horse. My oh my, he looks good in that blanket. He looks like a colt.
Read Mullins’ comments on not appealing the results of the Gold Cup. He and Wylie are class acts. Wylie said that if the horse was not awarded the prize on the turf, he was not going to try to get it elsewhere. They’ll be back next year.

JudyB. Charlie would look nice in such a blanket, at least until he decided to shred it. How’s he doing?
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Left a post on Page 4 of the Blog on my yesterday with Charlie and Hudson and I also linked some photos that I took. My post was “waiting for moderation” because of all the links with the photos, so I don’t know if you saw them.
Charlie is doing really well and he looks great. He and his paddock mates have not been wearing blankets because Angel is fed up. There are rips and tears in every blanket that she has and some of them are beyond mending. It’s good that the weather has been milder and sunny and the horses don’t need the blankets during the day. At night, when it gets colder, they are in the barn.
Hudson is becoming so much calmer and more confident since she’s been in the care of Deb and Amanda. She, like The Fly, is still a biter; but not as much as before. We’ll be in for an adventure very soon when “the new shoes man” comes. Deb and Amanda have been lifting her feet and tapping them to get her to stand to be shod and not kill the farrier. Wonder what Hovis would think of that? Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Max. Thanks so much for the pic of Kauto. He looks so beautiful in the spring sunshine.Mullins was very wise not to appeal, would’nt have been a good way to win a Gold Cup.Lord Windermere may run at Punchestown, nothing definite yet.
I read some of the tweets sent to Ruby, had to laugh at the one that said “do you hate horses because you are so short”Most of the jump jockeys are taller, must have confused him with our smaller flat jockeys!Jamie Moore (ryan’s brother)who won on SDG had a tumble at Ffos Las today is a bit stiff and sore.Think SDG is going to run at Sandown on the last big day of jumps in April.Hope your snow starts to melt soon.Free the Moose! Sheena. Is Moose’s birthday next sunday a cake???
Max
Sheena. I laughed at that one too. Still am laughing. Not certain how tall Ruby is, but he is definitely shorter than Annie Power, who is magnificently tall like Z or Big D. From photos he looks shorter than Mullins who also used to be a jockey. Joseph O’Brien is very tall. It’s the weight that matters, as you know. Ruby looks to be pretty thin. Heard about Jamie. Hope that he is not too injured. He’s a nice guy.
I also read today that Clive Smith was upset with Paul Nicholls for a long time because Paul mispronounced Kauto’s name from the day that Kauto arrived from France. He called him Kato. It just occurred to me that Kauto probably understands French because he was initially trained there and he raced in France. Same for Quevega. These horses are so clever. Free the Moose! Neigh!
Max
Sheena. Forgot this. Definitely a cake for Mad Moose, but what are you doing about March 19?

Dear Max.Yes,I recall that misunderstanding. It still saddens me that it all had to end on such a sour note.I may have to get my baker’s hat on for the birthdays. Also it’s Charlie’s birthday on the 19th as well.I have just been on Istabraq’s facebook,he has over 4,000
friends now, after he had mentioned the McManus I-2 in the champion hurdle he said our thoughts must be with Our Conor.Am sure Ruby is glad to be out of the limelight for a while.Isty was also wishing the mighty Big Buck’s a very happy retirement something I notice Ruby hasn’t even mentioned!Free the Moose!Sheena
Max
Sheena. The Fly’s birthday is coming up in April too. Lots of birthdays. Lots of cake. April 1 is the triple header: Z, Red and Big D. I drink Guinness on April 1 in honor of Z even though I don’t like beer. I drink Fiji water every day.
Ruby’s still talking, but now it’s all about him. He’s seeing a specialist about his arm later this week. Wish that Our Conor and those other horses were around to see a specialist.
Clive Smith sounds like a guy who takes a very detailed interest in his horses. He even designed his own racing silks. I liked that he moved Kauto to a place where Kauto would get the best of care, a second interesting career to keep him active and would be near Smith for visits.
