April 6 was the 61st anniversary of the birth of Round Table and Bold Ruler. The same day and at the same farm, Claiborne. Think these 2 show up in the pedigrees of almost every horse in North American and other countries also. Wow, what an influence on the breed these 2 had.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Thanks for reminding us of these two wonderful Champions and how their legacies live on in racing. RIP. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Northern Dancer does not have either bloodline.
Max
The Beast qualifies.
shirleeinindy
Of course, Beastie with that personality should trace back to royalty!
Max
The Beast has already recovered from the Carter. He’s now considering a run in the $500K Churchill Downs Handicap. Go Beastie.
Deb E.
Bold Ruler, the father of my beloved Big Red. The experts said his progeny didn’t have it in ’em to go the distance. I guess Secretariat proved the experts wrong!

He got his stamina from his mother’s side.

Dear Kathy.Another beautiful day here but was pretty chilly going out earlier! The good news is GLESNI is back!!!! I had been on the dyfi early today about 6.30am but Blue was there then so I had to peep before leaving the house and Glesni had just arrived she has seen Blue off(so far)While they were chasing each other over the dyfi Monty was calmly doing the “housework”plus they have mated!!I often wonder if Monty knew Blue wasn’t his partner because although she was screaming for food he never brought her one fish.Aintree has begun over here a few heavy falls but no injuries so far it’s a gorgeous day there. There will be an update on CC tomorrow on Rae’s website.I haven’t had much time to visit the furbabies yet town was busy today.I could see Zoe has reached her 14,000 and she made a new video. The ratties are going to granulate soon!Loki and Freyja are much better now there was a beautiful video of them together. It’s wonderful they live in the moment!great feature on JP McManus at his home in Ireland and getting to see the mighty Istabraq in his paddock!Have a wonderful Friday eve.Love and hugs to you Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.

Welcome Home Glesni!
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
That’s wonderful news that Glesni is back. What a great catch Monty is! Doing housework!!! What a guy! Fabulous that they have mated, too. Hope Blue isn’t too annoying to Glesni and Monty. She needs to find her own partner. Looking forward to the latest news on CC. I haven’t visited many of the furbabies, either. I did see that Zoe has reached 14,000. Congratulations to her! Will visit all the others later. Glad Loki and Freyja are doing well. Will look for the JP McManus story. Happy Friday Eve to you. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

Congratulations to Silviniaco Conti for winning the Betfred Bowl at Aintree.A superb round of jumping. The short guy and Arctic Fire had a crashing fall in the hurdle. Both very sore but live to fight another day.Sheena
Max
Horrific fall. Fire was down for a long time. His jumping was not too good today.
Did you see that Rock A Doodle Doo has switched from the flat to hurdles? He’s doing okay. Got a win last month.

Max
The Beastie was to run in the Count Fleet, but switched to the Carter because it was a grade one. Back to the drawing board.

Good to see your recovery is progressing well. Hope you can make it to the races soon!

Dear Max.I was disappointed I didn’t get to see the Moose parading.Have you heard Ryan is 1st jockey to Aidan now(official)maybe young Joe will continue with NH.Arctic Fire had a horrendous fall the screens went up.It was something similar to Annie’s fall in the festival. The short guy’s leg went dead and he was stood down for the rest of the day.I hadn’t heard about Rock-a-doodle-doo.Sheena.
Max
Moosie is looking well and impeccably groomed. Check out photos on his Twitter page of the parade. He has a new career as a hunt horse. Doubt that the Moosie would chase anything for long however. He’s riding with Sophie Burkan so that will make him happy. Moosie loves the ladies. Sammy said that when Moosie unseated him the Moose would quietly saunter back to his barn and attack his feed bin. Racing was not first on his agenda.
Stories say that the weight has finally taken over with young Joe. He lasted a long time against it. Ballydoyle is likely to have a lot of success with Ryan Moore, and he with them.
Hope that Arctic Fire is okay. That was a nasty fall and he stayed down for a very long time.

Dear Sheena,
Thank you for our Hovis. Poor boy! A delicate flower and left out all night! He is looking a little thin in that pic. Life is tough. Hope he makes it through. Hopefully Mum’s heart softens soon! Happy weekend, everyone. Safe trips for all horses and jockeys.

Don’t give me your labels or those causes you travel under. I respond to you-not what you call yourself.
If you insist that I must accept your labels and all the wrappings that go with them, where is the room and opportunity to know the real person?
A rare friendship meets on common ground of hope and need and tender feelings-not on the strength of names and labels and challenges. We are simply friends. I see your smile.
To have a friend and to be true under any and all trials is the mark of a man.

Dear Kathy.More sunshine here and at Aintree! All quiet on the western front(dyfi) so far.Hope you got to see the lovely video of Glesni and Monty! Was great to see the annual visit by the jockeys to the Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool also taking along Neptune Collonges and Amberleigh House. Was wonderful to see Monet’s Garden parading too.Poor Fubu is asking for prayers he’s not eating never does after his asthma shot so Kimberly took him to the vet and he got an injection.Hopefully he will eat now!Oh,Zoe and her executed snap-dragons bless her Diane will have to be charged! And that gorgeous video of her singing.CC is due to start his training this weekend wonder what he will make of the Newmarket turf?Abby made a trap for the cyote with a cardboard box and ate the bait herself!!Whatever next.I posted a video of Loki and his siblings on my timeline. He was soo tiny!I am sure Hovis will get his duvet back over the weekend it promises colder! How could Karen be sooo cruel every manly horse needs his duvet and a mare with loose morals!!!Have a great Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, I saw the Glesni/Monty video. They are really magnificent creatures! That’s great that the jockeys take time out to do hospital visits. Sounds like our Zoe! Always worry about Fubu. It’s amazing he’s still going! Diane certainly keeps us entertained sharing all of Zoe’s thoughts. Loved the video. So sweet. Best wishes for CC. Saying prayers all goes well for him. That’s funny that Abby ate the coyote bait! Will check out your Loki video. I hope Hovis gets his duvet back and possibly the mare. Sounds like he’ll need it! Happy Friday and happy weekend ahead. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
vicki
Hovis is delightful. This is the first time I got to see Glesni. This is amazing! I have no favorite for the Kentucky Derby. Every year I pick my favorite and something bad happens. I will wait until they are actually at the post. Learned about Dosage yesterday and still don’t understand it completely.
shirleeinindy
Vicki,
Know how you feel. My two favorites this year are out. Texas Red seems to be recovering and there is no news on Far From Over. Have several I like but I am not breathing their names. That Imp of Injury lurks all around!

Dear Shirlee and Z Fans:
Read today that Prospect Park is off the Derby Trail too. Sounds like some kind of infection. Power Up beautiful boy.

Dear Shirlee:
Oh no, you are not the jinx. Unfortunately, It’s just the sad side of racing. Our beloved horses are living, breathing beings and can be so fragile. Love and Hugs, JB

Congratulations to the “galloping dentist”Sam Waley-Cohen for becoming the most successful jockey over the National fences by winning the Topham Trophy on Rajdhani Express.Plenty of thrills and spills but all horses safe.Sam is riding Oscar Time who is 14 in the big race tomorrow.Sheena.

What a weekend of racing this is going to be. Keeneland and Oaklawn have some super races with real rock stars running.

Dear Max:
Love your message to CC. Love and Hugs, JB

Max,
Remember the song “Leaving On A Jet Plane?” Think this should be CC’s song.
Sheena, not to be disrespectful of how the Brits care for horses. Know you all have been taking care of race horses long before we in the USA have. Just think it was a Dumb A** move to send him there after Dubai.
Max
It’s probably a nice vacation for Chromie although he must miss his routine.
This move more generally is like Ballydoyle when they tried to turn a horse who was trained and won brilliantly on turf into a winner on dirt in the Breeders Cup Classic at Belmont. Galileo finished 6th to Tiznow.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Thanks for being our source for updates on our beloved CC. Hope he gains some weight. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Thanks for the heads up about Moosie.Loved the pics and he’s looking great especially now he has his long-awaited female on board.Poor SDG didn’t get far in the Melling chase maybe missing Jamie but he did entertain the crowds by racing on the Grand National course and jumped the chair! It just hasn’t been his year.Had you heard Rags to Riches has been covered by Australia?Should be some foal!Hugs Sheena.
Max
Champagne Fever also did not do so well. Next time. SDG is a lovely horse. He will be back.
Rags and Aussie have formidable pedigrees, and they are both chestnuts. Interesting to see this foal. Apparently Rags has already had two foals by Galileo and two more by Henrythenavigator and Giant’s Causeway. All Coolmore sires. She’s also Coolmore.
Debbie S.
Dear Sheena
Thanks for the Hovis update -loved it when he said he is as safe hacking as a fox in a henhouse,he is so funny!Glad he will be cosy with his duvet on tonight.
Sooooo happy Glesni is back and Monty is making their nest ready,he is the best!I am going to look on the Dyfi sight tonight, can hardly wait to see them!
Good to see CC and that he is having a rest, although I would have liked him to have a longer one.He is such a wonderful horse, somehow his good disposition makes him at risk for expectations that are not necessarily in his best interest.I do know Rae runs a quality training centre. Chrome deserves to come home after his time in the UK,pray Perrie will listen to Art and put CC first.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Debbie. It’s wonderful to have Monty and Glesni back on the nest and no big battles this year so far!!Hovis will need his duvet tonight it’s turned cooler much better conditions for the big race though.CC looks to be very happy in Newmarket.Good to see you posting.Love and hugs Sheena.

Wow! Untapable looked great in the Apple Blossom. Hand ride by Johnny V. She still doesn’t like him but he didn’t get unseated. Wonder why such great horses as Danny and she misbehave with him???

Dear Sheena,
Happy Saturday. I work today so may not be back here later. The FB furbabies I checked on seem okay. Over on Boo’s page Blue thinks he’s a pom and on My Pom Pals page Dexter also thinks he’s a pom. Many birthdays to remember today of horses no longer with us.Our beloved grey Desert “Dessie” Orchid he died as he lived with dignity and no fuss. His beautiful statue stands near Kauto’s at Kempton where his ashes were laid to rest.Saddler’s Wells known as the daddy of ’em all.Although bred in in the US he became the champion sire in Europe. He died peacefully in his paddock on April 26th 2011 aged 30yrs 4 days before his famous grandson Frankel blew away the opposition in a 2000 guineas I will never forget. Also one of the US triple crown winners Citation born on this day in 1945.Horses that will be ever remembered.RIP Sheena.
