VERSAILLES, KY — (April 13, 2016) It is with heavy hearts that Team Zenyatta and Lane’s End Farm must announce the passing of Zenyatta’s 2016 foal by War Front. His death occurred at approximately 9:00 am this morning due to complications of meconium aspiration syndrome. We express our deep gratitude to Dr. Peter Morresey and the professionals at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital who worked tirelessly to support the mare and foal. Zenyatta is in good health and back home at Lane’s End Farm.
Update — 5:30 pm
Zenyatta has returned to the field that is her original home at Lane’s End. She has been paired with the mare Vixana, who is also owned by Jerry and Ann Moss. Zenyatta and Vixana are the same age, and they trained together under John Shirreffs at Barn 55. The two are becoming reacquainted and have already shared a drink at the water bowl.

I am so very sorry for the Mosses and especially for Zenyatta.i hope they won’t breed to War Front again. He has too many links in his pedigree with Native Dancer I believe and I think their blood doesn’t blend well maybe. I have a friend who when she was married to her first husband she would have horrific pregnancies. It turned out that it was the combining of the 2 blood types. Maybe it’s the same with horses. But aside from that I am grieving for another loss for Zenyatta who is such a great mom.

My heart felt Thanks

To Kathy,
How are you doing with hearing of the loss of Zenaytta’s foal so soon after you gave your Holly the ultimate gift of love? I have been thinking of you and keeping you & your family in my prayers as well.
Donna,

Kathy
Dear Donna Z,
I’m devastated as is everyone else here. Still miss my Holly. I brought her ashes home. I have to keep things in perspective. Holly had 14 1/2 years. This precious colt had no life at all. So very sad. I will bring back the Devotionals once everyone has had time to mourn. I thank you so much for your prayers.
Love and hugs, Kathy XOXO

“At the end of your life-path is an entrance to heaven. Only I know when you will reach that destination, but I am preparing you for it each step of the way. The absolute certainty of your heavenly home gives you Peace and Joy to help you along your journey. You know that you will reach your home in My perfect timing: not one moment too soon or too late. Let the hope of heaven encourage you as you walk along the path of Life with Me.” I believe there are animals in heaven also.
All we can do now is to continue our prayers for everyone involved in Zenyatta’s life and know that her sweet and special little Z Prince is now safely in heaven.
With love and special thanks to everyone for all they have done and continue to do for
Zenyatta and her family.

Miss Zenyatta, I love you. Wish more than anything that I could just give you a big southern hug. I know we would both feel better.

It has been a few days now. The sadness is still strong, the compassion for all of her connections is stronger and the love for Zenyatta is strongest of all..

I am so sad to hear of this news and I had no idea that she had 4 babies since retiring…I was always in love with that mare….actually I have a Mare and love her as well….I hope to God these babies and young offspring of Zenyatta never ever turn up at a horse slaughter like most do….I would love to adopt any one of her babies….
Thank You….~Anna~

Don’t think Zenyatta’s offspring will ever be anything but loved and well cared for. Ann and Jerry love Zenny and her “kids” and will see to their welfare all of their lives. Also, there are a bunch of Aunties out here who are helping to keep watch over the kids.

Was hoping to see a post from Team Zenyatta about how Queen Z is doing. Praying that her physical and mental health are improving after her tragic loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with all that love The Queen and her family.

Sorry about the spelling. ( about her being bred to)
Laura
so sorry beautiful Zenyatta and baby. Life just isn’t fair. I too hope they don’t breed her to War Front again. I just saw a special on him, and his ferrier said he would just as soon kill you as not. Trainer also said he was a mean SOB…..American Pharoah would be a wonderful match. Lots of speed in the beginning, she has lots at the end. We love you Zenny. You will forever be one of my favourite horses, and I have twins (horses) of my own.
