I finally found the answer. In case you haven’t heard yet, Authentic won the Vox Populi. Now for the second puzzle, its too early yet and the story hasn’t been updated, but Princess Noor was pulled up at the top of the stretch and didn’t finish in her race.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Martha,
So sorry about your dear Sassy and Floof — sending you comforting thoughts and prayers. ?
I am disappointed that Whitmore didn’t win the Vox Populi — he was certainly my pick as a real peoples’ horse, and he surely deserved it!
I hope Princess Noor is okay. Keep us posted.

Finally, good news about a lovely animal. There is a video on Bloodhorse.com of Princess Noor standing in her stall munching some hay. Victor Espinosa was aboard and must have felt something and pulled her up. Usually I’m not a big fan of his as I think he uses his whip a bit too much but apparently he did something right and the Princess was able to walk into the van on all four legs. The problem turned out to be an inflamed left front tendon. X-rays revealed no breaks PHEW!
sWEET DREAMS TO ALL TWO AND FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Martha,
What a relief — really good news about Princess Noor! Glad Victor was alert and sensitive to her since things could have gone south in an instant.
Thanks for the update!
Hugs and Love

Miles to go before I sleep. While searching for the answers to my puzzles, I ran across a little horse named Sharp Starr. It just happens that I’ve been doing a bit of writing under the name Zauey Starr. Coincidence? Hm According to the reporting this little horse has won 3 of 3 races.
judy berube
Dear Martha:
I just checked on Equibase for Sharp Starr’s chart. If this is the horse you referenced, he’s a three year old Gelding by Munnings out of Mindy Gold (AP Indy); nice pedigree.
He has a record of 9 starts; 3 wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds. His last win was Grade III Go For Wand Handicap at Aqueduct on 12/5/20. Here’s an article with nice photo of this beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

Martha,
So sorry for your losses. During this time of crisis our fur babies are so loved and a big help in getting by each day. So glad the Princess seems to be okay. I agree with you that Victor did something right. Also, agree he is too fond of the whip. I will never forget his ride on AP in the Derby.
shirleeinindy
Wow, Curlin’s 3 fillies did the trifecta in the Demoiselle.
Just saw on Bloodhorse.com that the Princess has been retired. Too bad but hope she recovers and has a long happy life.
I was thrilled for Calumet and True Timber for their win. The jockey was such a joy in his interview. Seems like he is a really good guy.

If you can, schedule your trip in May after Derby week. Weather is usually nice by that time and Central Kentucky is beautiful in the spring. I cannot help but tell you again how happy I am that you won the trip.

Hi Judy! I am so excited for you. Despite the circumstances we are all facing, there are beautiful happenings coming soon. Our prayers are being answered. Love and hugs?❤️?

Im waiting for my ride to show so i can go home….. Im HANGRY.?. They’re late. ??
But good news, my pain isn’t as bad today. Thank God. ? 8 of 10 (my normalpain level) instead of 10 of 10. Hopefully in a couple of weeks the air mattresses AKA “bladders” for my sleep number bed ? will arrive. That’ll help alleviate some pain too.
Shirleeinindy, it was sunny today as well. Kinda a heat wave. Lol.

Happy Friday everyone. Our boy Hovis has several bits of good news this week (but of course he still manages a few digs at his Mum!). Hope everyone is hanging in there. Hard to believe that Christmas is just two weeks away! What a year this has been!

As ever our Hovis gives us a bit of humor which is much needed, now more than ever! His wit is as sharp as always. Glad he seems to be feeling okay and hope he continues to heal — prayers for a lasting total recovery. ?

My Dear Z Family:
I have a very difficult decision I’ve made that I want to share with you. First of all I want to thank all of you for the kindness and happiness you’ve shared with me in my being one of the lucky fans to win a visit with Zenyatta. Unfortunately, I am not able to physically get myself to Kentucky to meet her.
I know that when Team Z first let me know that I had won, I should have thanked them and let them know right then that I was not able to make the trip. Although I knew I should, I was so taken up in the joy of having the opportunity to actually meet our Queen that I was in denial of the reality of my situation.
The last time Russ and I traveled by air was over 30 years ago. That last week long trip was a disaster for me (and Russ, because of me) from takeoff to landing. We had taken many trips by air over the years and I loved flying. But this time I developed severe vertigo and couldn’t keep anything down. We spent most of the time in our hotel room and as the symptoms lessened, it was time to come back home. When we touched down in Warwick, the symptoms were full force. The diagnosis was Meniere’s disease. A few years later I was also diagnosed with Lupus. Not sure which came first or if there is a connection. The vertigo is pretty much part of my every day life now. Something as simple as laying down to sleep or standing up first thing in the morning can start the room spinning. Turning too quickly or bending to pick up Lola can start the wave going. The trick to living with it is avoiding triggers; loud music, bright light, getting water or cold air in your ears and travel, especially by plane. The symptoms are degrees of vertigo, nausea and/or vomiting, difficulty focusing the eyes, brain fog, tinnitis and hearing loss. I do exercises called Epley Maneuver and there are meds like Antivert (Meclizine) you can take. But I stopped using them long ago as all they do is make me dopey, which just adds to the risk of falling. People live with so much worse.
Team Z graciously told me that I can choose whomever I wish to visit Z in my place and I have chosen our Sandy. I know that when she gives Z treats and a hug and kiss, it will be for and from all of us. So sorry to have let you all down; and though I know it’s the right thing to do, it’s one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. ?
I love all of you. Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy,
I am so sorry about this since you were so happy about seeing Queen Z, and I was so excited for you. I wish I could somehow come get you and take you to Lane’s End myself!
Take care, my friend. You deserve to feel better — 30 years is a long time to suffer with bouts of vertigo. My heart breaks for you. ?
(Very happy for Sandy though!)
Hugs and Love ?
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Dear Judy,
I am thrilled to be meeting our Queen Z at last, but as you know, this is beyond bittersweet. I was SO excited that you were one of the winners and am devastated along with you that you have made this difficult decision. Like Marshall, I wish I could think of some way to get you there. I will do my best to be your representative and carry the good wishes and hugs that folks have asked you to deliver.
Love and hugs, Sandy

Dear JB,
We love you very much and respect your decision. No way would you ever let us down. Erase that thought from your mind because you always lift us up.
A class act you are in sharing the love and sharing your trip with Sandy.
I think a ZOOM meeting could work between you and Zenny! Facetime! I bet Z would be up for that.
Anyway, saw this the other day and am sharing. Thanks to Mr. Farish for capturing this incredible moment.
You and Z have a special place in our hearts.

Dear Judy, I was so happy for your win, and so hoped you would be able to go. Hearing you have vertigo plus – awful. I don’t think I could handle that as well as you seem to do. I don’t travel at all but for less serious reasons. Thank you for sharing. You are such a bright light for me on the blog. I do hope you can feel better next year and keep letting us know how you are. God Bless.

Dear Judy. I am so sorry you will not meet her in person but I am sure Sandy will do everything in her power to let Z know you are there in spirit. And I know Sandy will be ever so grateful for the opportunity to visit with Queen Z.

I hope you and Lola have a wonderful day . Your posts and attachments are so appreciated.

So sorry, Judy, but thankful you are able to transfer the opportunity. Your love for Z is so touching and do wish you were able to go. I deal with vertigo from time to time but your situation is so much worse than mine. Will be praying for you.
That is a beautiful picture of our Queen with the rainbow above her. It makes me just a little sad as she went from so much attention and sometimes looks very lonely. Maybe I’m just projecting my feelings on to her because she has done so well. Just love her a lot.
Appreciated the story of our GI’s fur baby. Such a happy ending.
Love to all.

Dear Judy,
I’ve been so busy doing “Christmas preparations” and haven’t been here to visit for SEVERAL days. Oh, I’m so sorry that you are unable to make the trip to meet the Queen. We were all so THRILLED for you. Reading your symptoms when you fly, I’m sure you have made the right decision even though it is so disappointing. How kind of Lane’s End and YOU to transfer the opportunity to Sandy. I know she is over the moon. I agree she will let the Queen know how much we all love her and will give her a kiss from all of us.
Thank you for the charming story of Patrick and Marshmallow and also the Tax and Sodashi links!
Much love and hugs, Kathy
