We’re a little late sharing this news, but we couldn’t leave you without photos of our filly’s first cupcake!

Zenyatta’s 2017 Medaglia d’Oro filly celebrated her birthday last week, and the staff at Lane’s End threw a party. Thank you, Lane’s End! Scroll down for more photos from Alys.

    Alys,
Thank you for the wonderful pics of the little princess. We needed a shot of joy here after all the sadness. She sure is a pretty little girl with a wild mane and soft kind eyes. Thanks to all of her team for the birthday party.

Wow, just look how beautiful and classy Z17 has become! What a treat for the eyes. Thanks so much for the update on her, there were many posts wishing her a Happy Birthday on her special day, so wonderful to see LE and their Team giving her cupcake treats. Zenyatta always has such classy foals. I am so happy to see Coz in his new adventure, and Ziconic working toward his goals. They are all very special to her fans, whatever they may do because Zenyatta is so special to all of us. As all Moms out there, you give them all the love and help you can but sometimes things happen out of your control or don’t quite work out as imagined. It is Zenyatta’s resilience and grace under pressure that makes me love her even more. She will always prevail in the end. After all, she is the Queen of Racing and will forever be.

I absolutely love this filly! Thank you for celebrating her birthday and taking pictures Lanes End staff. Z17 looks like she is really enjoying herself.

I hope that Z17 will soon have a name. I do know that the Jockey Club has to approve a name before it becomes official, so maybe the hold up is just waiting for their approval of one of the names submitted.

Happy Birthday again to Z17! May this year be a wonderful and healthy one for you as you grow and experience and learn many new things.

I doubt there is any hold up in giving this filly a name. They have until early in their second year according to Jockey Club rules. Her connections no doubt have their own schedule on naming their foals and they do a good job of fitting the name to the horse.

Thanks Team Z, happy tears were certainly appreciated and needed now. The love we all feel for Zenny’s family at Lane’s End is beyond measure. Keeping up with the usual traditions by celebrating her precious filly’s birthday is very important, reminding us why we are here, and thankful for the impact Zenyatta has had in our lives over the years. So glad she continues to recover and is doing better.

It’s ashamed, because Ziconic had a lot of potential, and a great attitude, but all that has been lost. People might get upset with this, but I feel he was handled all wrong. He was trained to be like Zenyatta, and he is a totally different horse, with a different build. He deserve a decent like.

I thoroughly and completely agree with Roberta. I aalso felt the same about Barbaro’s siblings. Nicanor, Lentenor, Margano and Pennmarydell. Such a waste of great talent if it had only been properly utilized. Who knows maybe Z17 will be the one to carry on Zenyatta’s dancing skills as well as mom’s racing ability. She certainly is a sweet looking little cutie. Here’s hoping we learn her name soon.

Just watched IWC’s replay. You’re right; Jose really over did it at the end. Hand ride to the finish; they he went bonkers with the whip. IWC had a four length lead and no one was gaining on him. Shame. Love and Hugs, JB

        Judy,
I did not watch the replay either. I am going to and count the hits. Very disappointed in Jose. I do think that he wanted the win so badly for the horse and the team that he got carried away. Hope we don’t have another Victor on our hands.
