Hi to all Z’sters!
I will check in later, but It’s A Wonderful Life is just coming on on USA. I am SO excited!!!
This is my all time favorite movie — love Jimmy Stewart.
Love and Hugs my friends
Deb E.
We here in Pennsylvania are proud to say that Mr. Stewart was a native son of our commonwealth from Indiana, PA. ! He was such a humble, generous man despite his tremendous success as both an actor and a decorated World War II veteran. He even gave his Best Actor Oscar for The Philadelphia Story to his father to display in the window of the family hardware store in Indiana! Many actors in Hollywood today could take a lesson from Jimmy Stewart’s example; he was the perfect combination of talent and class.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Deb E.,
You are certainly right about that!! I didn’t know that Mr. James Stewart was from Indiana, Pa. How nice that he gave his Oscar to his father for display in the family hardware store — great for the old hometown. He was the consummate actor and was a class act. I loved it when he was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, too. He had a great sense of humor and wrote some wonderful poems, also. I think the only guy who even comes anywhere near, these days, is Tom Hanks who is a very decent sort, as well.
Thank you for the background!
Hugs and Love
Deb E.
Indiana, PA loves and respects Mr. Stewart so much that if you ever visit the town you can fly into the Jimmy Stewart Airport, visit the Jimmy Stewart Museum (a must see because his Oscar in displayed there) and have your picture taken with his statue in the downtown area. Right now, since it’s Christmas, Indiana always has It’s a Wonderful Life activities going on. If you do a search of “Jimmy Stewart, Indiana, PA” you’ll find tons of things to look at and read.
You’re right about Tom Hanks. He’s the only actor today that has the same everyman quality Jimmy Stewart had.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Wow, Deb E.!
Makes me want to go to Indiana, PA right now! I will have to add that to my bucket list.
Thanks bunches!
Hugs and Love

I would watch anything that Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant was in! Nothing but pure class.

Dear Marshall. Enjoy your film!75yrs ago today (15th)Gone with the Wind was premiered in Atlanta. They don’t make them like that anymore!!!Love and hugs Sheena.
Deb E.
They sure don’t! GWTW is the grandaddy of all Hollywood film epics! In terms of all-time highest grossing film hits (adjusted for today’s ticket prices), GWTW is the box office champ by a LOOOONNNNNGGGG way. Take that Avatar and Titanic!

Love this extended piece by WinStar and if anybody goes on
the Lane’s End site, they have video profiles of all their stallions that is
nicely done. Visited both and they are beautiful places.
Zenyatta has a lovely place to call home.

Dear Janet,
Thanks for the great WinStar video, also the heads up about the Lane’s End profile. I think I may have seen the Lane’s End piece before, but it was a pleasure to view it again. Absolutely, Zenyatta’s home is beautiful. I think I want to live there, too!

December 15 Cherokee Devotional
The secrets of Christmastime give ordinary work special meaning. The sights and sounds of the season mean getting ready-preparing for the celebration. We hear woodcutters busy with their saws, yelling back and forth, and the thumping of firewood as it is thrown into the truckbed. A thin spiral of smoke rises above the treetops as brush is cut away and burned. Fallen leaves tumble into the blaze as though some great hand swept them all in one direction. Christmas has always taken some of its delight from the woods. Burr acorns and puff balls and clusters of red berries festoon the wiry vines on the rough trunk of the hackberry. Breath hangs in a misty vapor and a cardinal flashes red through a light misting of snow. A joy to be, a joy to see.
We acknowledge first the goodness of Wakan Tanka…we are sure his spirit lives…

Ann NC. FedEx informs me that the 20lbs of peppermints were delivered to Dan at his farm address on December 2, 2014 at 11:08 am, Dan time. Haven’t heard anything yet from the Danimal himself, but he’s been at Keeneland. Might be home at the farm by now. Danny better get to that package and snare some mints before the other Dans or Norman polish them off. Kick butt, Danny.

I’d like to know if crescent moon guy went to Florida to train. Zi and CMG were mischief twins. Loved seeing those two together. CMG reminded me of Eddie Haskell.

Loved that Moon kid. He was an Eddie Haskell type. Remember him walking into the video showcasing Zi. Cute!
Thanks for sharing the peppermint story. A wonderful X-mas treat. Eat up, Dan!

Calumet has just announced its 2015 stud fees. Oxbow is returning to the farm. They also have Americain and Vertiformer as well as Lentenor. And Musketier has moved from Canada to Kentucky to stand at Calumet. I love that guy. He probably will bring his teddy bears with him.

Kauto always does really well and looks good doing it. Read a lot of suggestions about a new career path for Moosie. That horse is actually getting more famous daily by doing nothing in a kind and nice way. Could learn from this.

Dear Sheena, Max and Z Fans:
Nice article on See The Stars. Love and Hugs, JB
https://www.thoroughbredracing.com/articles/my-favorite-racehorse-sea-stars
Max
Very good article and well written. Describes Sea The Stars as quiet, modest and the nicest of friends to have. Don’t think that anyone would apply that to Big D, Tiz, Ribot, or Hastings. Biters all. Personally, when it comes to the guys, I like the butt kickers best of all.
Ann NC
Thanks, JB. It is a wondeful article. Love the mention of his exercise rider and their very special bond, sweet.
Love and hugs.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
Thanks for this post! I enjoyed reading it and am a bit envious of the author. She gets to see this beautiful horse anytime since he is almost “next door”. What a lovely temperament, too.
Lots of Love and Big Hugs

Dear Judy.A beautiful tribute to one of the best racehorses I’ve had the pleasure of watching in my lifetime.I particularly remember him arriving at York for the Juddmonte just taking it all in.I don’t really like having favourites I just LOVE them all for the joy they bring to our lives even the Moose becoming so famous for his unique talent of standing still. Thanks for this article.Love and hugs Sheena.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max, Ann, Marshall and Sheena:
Yes, STS is well loved and definitely the opposite in personality of Big D, TIZ, Ribot and Hastings. You can add Hudson to that list too. She bit Amanda on the arm last week and broke the skin this time. Yes Max, gotta love the attitude on these “Sweeties”, but you have to learn to duck quickly. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Hudson may be a filly version of The Fly. The Fly is even nice about his biting in an Eddie Haskell kind of way. No one ever blames him. Hope that Amanda recovers from the latest love bite. How’s Frank? Charlie? Any news of Ruby and Diamond?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thank you for asking. Frank, Charlie and Hudson are doing very well. Amanda had a black and blue mark for a while, but she’s OK.
Things for Diamond, however, are not very good. Turns out she has been given to the woman who runs the barn that Hudson is at now and she is a pasture mate of Hudson’s and another mare. She is very attached to Hudson. She whinny’s and runs to Hudson when Hudson cool walks by the paddock after working in the ring. She’s going to be 8 months old on Christmas Day and she has not been trained in ground manners at all. She is beautiful and getting bigger every day. I’m hoping someone with experience with young horses will be brought in to train her very soon. It’s a struggle to get her in from the paddock and into her stall. She’s rearing up and bolting. I’m afraid she is going to hurt herself and/or someone else. I’m really worried about her. Ruby is still with her original owner at another farm. Jackie, the owner, was going to keep Diamond and Ruby, but then she decided to give Diamond away. She said after Diamond was weaned and placed in another paddock, she kept trying to get back to Ruby. Jackie felt she could not keep them at the same farm. I worry that Diamond didn’t have the benefit of being weaned and let out with other foals her own age to make the weaning easier. She needs training badly and soon. Praying hard for her. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
I do hope that someone steps in to help poor Diamond soon. It sounds as if she would greatly benefit from having something to do. Early training is very important since it makes things much easier and smoother for the young horse, not to mention for everyone associated with the youngster, too.
Will keep Diamond in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and Hugs

Dear Marshall:

Right now, TVG is showing Z ‘s Clement Hirsch at Delmar with Life is Sweet running also. Just love December with TVG showing off our big girl. Watching her prancing and dancing and the crowd with Z posters. Best Christmas present to me!

She is beyond compare. No other horse ran in such a consistently thrilling manner. I will never forget how I felt when she ran so courageously in her last race. It remains one of the best moments of my life. Unforgettable.
Kathy
Max,
Totally agree. She is The Queen! My horse of a lifetime. She brought goosebumps every time she ran. And that last race…just a few more leaps and she would have caught him. Un be liev able!

December 16 Cherokee Devotional
Someone said humorously that there is one thing money cannot buy, and that is poverty. But it can. It doesn’t take money to be the richest person in town. Anyone who has survived an ordeal, where to merely exist is important, knows what it is to be rich. It is life seen through the heart-and for them poverty doesn’t exist. Prosperity includes many things. Simply being well in body, mind and spirit tops the list. But seeing the change of seasons, touching the faces of those we love, breathing fresh air, or breathing freely, is wealth unlimited. The Cherokee expression of wealth is nu we hna v i, but personally, it is the right to be free, the right to pray, the right to one’s own decisions. And that should enrich all of us.
In the last place…we are bound…to watch for each other’s preservation.

Thrilling to see Coz in Cal. I hope they take him to see Moms statue. Love seeing Ann with her horses. Haven’t had time for much racing. Haven’t watched much news either. I must confess I watched White Christmas two times in a row. Speaking of Jimmy Stewart my No. 3 brother watched Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and was just blown away. Hard to believe my own brother had never seen a Jimmy Stewart movie especially my all time favorite Harvey. Can’t wait until Santa Anita.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Vicki,
I love Harvey, too! Great movie, but with Jimmy Stewart, how could it not be.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a classic, also.
All the Best!
