Dreadful news from here in Waco. A gunman shot one of our local meteorologists as he was leaving his office this morning. The victim is in fair condition after surgery., but the gunman remains at large.. All 3 tv stations here are on lockdown. Please pray for the young man. It’s a reminder that life itself is a gift. This kind of thing is happening way too often. Hugs to all.

Dear Barbara,
We are living in an insane world. Prayers being said.

Oh, no!! I am so sorry to see this! Lately I have been avoiding all the news channels, even on the internet, because most of the news is worrisome. I will hold you and Waco in my heart and prayers. We lived in Robinson for several years in the 70s.

Initiative is the will to win. It is the decision to begin right where we are, the self-starting push that gets us over the hump in the road. It is the smile and the quick step that gets us past what seems wrong. It is the ability to see a rainbow when others are crying over the rain. Initiative is a new surge of bravery that makes us stand up straight and use our heads and hearts and not fall into envy and fear. It is a new burst of strength that understands what it takes to get going. And the best part of self-motivation is to follow up the will with good work, with more faith and more courage-that this time, this time, we are going to strike gold! This time is a new time, a new heart, a new person that will not wilt in the face of opposition.
The Great Spirit puts a shadow in your heart when you destroy…

Good morning Zenny and everyone. Finally finished the first half of the research project on my husband’s family in Scotland. Goes to printer today. Was able to go back to 1010 A.D. The second half is from 1600’s to present. I’ll hopefully complete the second half – that is close to being complete – after the new year…YAY! I’m hoping to get back to documenting the wild horses that live not too far from us also. Looking forward to catching on everyone’s news and seeing all of the pics of Zenny and her ‘boys’. Have sure missed you all! Love to you all. Elizabeth
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Good to hear from you Elizabeth, and I really admire your research project. I should do one on my father’s family in Scotland but wouldn’t know where to start!
Elizabeth in NM
Hi Sandy,
Ancestry.com is the main website I use. If you want other information, please let me know. God’s many blessings to you, Elizabeth
Judy Berube From Rhode Island

Judy, it’s been such a wonderful journey!

Fascinating. Maybe we are distantly related.

Elizabeth & Barbara,
Perhaps we are distantly related. My mother’s family came from a little town in Scotland called Dingwall.
Elizabeth in NM
Wouldn’t that be so fun?! I’ve seen Dingwall in some of the research. Will let you know if I can find some information again.
Elizabeth in NM
Barbara,
Wouldn’t that be just wonderful! I already consider all us on Zenny’s website for these past several years have become a big family already. But it would be a double blessing and such fun if some of us were related genetically too.
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
It is wonderful you can go back so far!!
Elizabeth in NM
Sally, it is an amazing journey!
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Elizabeth,
How wonderful that you found out all that family information. I too have been trying to find out my lineage. My mom was adopted, so I have been trying to deal with the Minn dept of Health and Human Services to find out her real mom’s name. I ran into a brick wall when they told me they have no adoption records for her. So it may be that officially back in the early 1900’s they passed her to a relative to raise. Now I have to have them search for a birth record after I gather all the documentation needed. NO EASY TASK. i shall perservere, however, until I reach another brick wall. Sorry for going on and on, I usually don’t do this on the blog, I guess I’m just frustrated. So happy for you though.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sue:
Hope you’re able to find some records that will help you. Love and Hugs, JB
Elizabeth in NM
Sue,
You might want to think about trying ‘ancestry.com’ They have birth, marriage, death, passport records… and all other kinds of documents on their site. I couldn’t have done our ancestry without using them. Sometimes, on that website, people post family ‘notes’ or ‘stories’, so you might be able to start there with that family. Also, you can start by putting in your name, pull up your records, then to from there. You might find your ‘birth’ records. We joined the website for year ( I think it was less than one hundred dollars for a year), and we’ll probably renew every year for years now, because there is so much information available. I’ll keep you in my prayers about finding your birth Mom.
with love, Elizabeth
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Elizabeth,
Thanks for the well wishes. Yes I tried Ancestry.Com but I get stuck every time because I don’t know my mom’s real mother and father. They can give me info on the other side but not my mom’s. I have a friends sister who is very experienced in doing this helping me, but i have to get that birth certificate or at least real mom’s name first. I may have to petition the court in Minn for the info. Thanks for the prayers, I’ll keep trying. hugs

Someone summed up this very well.
This would not have happened on Paul Nicholls’ watch.
Will be looking for clarification or explanation.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Yikes! How could they not have seen that?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear BGG:
OMG, that must have been so painful for Kauto. Explains his reluctance to perform. Just no excuse for that. Makes me soooo angry. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Is anything sure about any of this? Seems unlikely that the UK vets would let Kauto compete at Olympia if he had sores on his chest. There is no mention of this anywhere else in the UK media. Kauto on his Twitter says that he is happy and well cared for by Laura.
As to his performance, I watched the video and thought he did pretty good. Dressage is a subjective kind of horsey event and often is in the eye of the beholder. Rock on, Kauto.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Sheena:
You make good points. Does seem strange that this would have gone unnoticed by the vets. Unless the photo has been doctored, the girth area on Kauto does look very raw. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena,
Yes, Hawaii is a fabulous place. I’ve been there twice. Would love to go again. I did see the photo of Kauto’s statue. It’s beautiful. Yes, would love to see a video of Charlotte and Valegro. Will have to visit the other furbabies later. Have to run to the store. Have a wonderful Friday Eve. Hard to believe we’re just one week away from Christmas. Just a heads up, Steve and I leave on Dec. 24th to go to his dad’s in Pacific Grove. I’ll post the Devotionals for Dec. 24-31 before I go. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Jackie doesn’t live here anymore. The day before Thanksgiving he heard gunshots from one of the nearby deer stands. He took off. I went looking for him and found him about a mile from my home. He had found his forever family. They’d brought him up to prepare the deer stand and he’d disappeared. There was no doubt that he knew and loved everyone of them. They couldn’t believe how big he’d grown. I think I might just get a nice stuffed animal since my luck is running so bad. I am happy for Jackie and his family. They sure better keep an eye on him though.

Celeste, funny that you should mention Robinson. My brother-in-law lives over there. We’re in Woodway.
And while we’re on the subject, it’s a little known fact that Michael Blowen of Old Friends fame used to be the director of the Waco Art Center back in the 70;s. Small world.

Breaking News –Rodenticide Linked to Six Sudden Horse Deaths
By Jack Shinar The Blood-Horse December 18, 2014
California racing officials have identified a connection in the sudden death of six horses with trace amounts of anticoagulant rodenticide in their systems, the state horse racing board was told Dec. 18.
Dr. Rick Arthur, California Horse Racing Board equine medical director, said the horses, who died between Dec. 21, 2012, and Sept. 18 of this year, all expired due to internal bleeding following exercise. Necropsy exams found each had only trace amounts of a strongly toxic anticoagulant used in the extermination of rodents at racetracks in their systems.

Sadness clings like dust particles, and makes us think there is no other way to feel than sad. But what makes us sad? Is there something tangible that we can deal with? Or is it just everything-and yet, nothing in particular? At times, there is a sorrowing of the soul, the deep-seated knowledge that all is not well, and things are getting worse. No one respects anyone else and when will it cease? How can we be happy when there is so much wrong around us? This is our chance to be a seed of happiness, a spark of hope, a star that someone can look to and follow out of a dark place. If we fall into a trap that we are supposed to be sad-then, we are no different from the unknowing ones. Sadness is a symptom that is contagious-but so is faith and cheerfulness.
I am heard now by all Indians, and they are pleased, and have said to me, Brother Teedyuscung, you are promoting what is good…
