Little Zen Pewter Figurine

Little Zen Pewter Figurine

Happy Friday!

New to the shop today is the limited edition Little Zen Pewter Figurine.

This “Little Zen” is an exquisitely detailed portrayal of the thoroughbred champion, Zenyatta sculpted by miniature specialist Maggie Bennett and painted by the acclaimed equine figurine painter Caroline Boydston. Their collaborative dancing depiction of the 2010 Horse of the Year is the culmination of countless hours of meticulous study and hand-work manifested in this unique and officially licensed fine art piece.

Zenyatta was renowned for her racing achievements as well as her physical conformation and the artists capture the essence of her muscular majesty in perfect miniature scale.

Golden finish.

Each piece in the collection is individually hand-cast from the finest quality lead-free pewter. From the arch in her neck through her powerful withers to the playful extension of her front leg, the mighty mare is detailed in exact precision. Upon the completion of casting, each miniature is painstakingly painted to recreate Zenyatta’s rich bay color enhanced by her distinctive facial stripe and two white socks. Boydston’s unique dimensional shading technique completes the intricate process.

For the most discerning collector, we offer the first 25 pieces in the edition in an elegant 18K gold-plated finish. This Golden version represents the ultimate in Zenyatta memorabilia.

Each figurine comes with its own engraved felt-bottomed pedestal as well as a numbered certificate card hand-signed by trainer John Shirreffs and his wife, racing manager Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, also known as the “Voice of Zenyatta” for the beloved on-line Diary.

Measures 2.5″ wide x 2″ tall. Limited to 250 total pieces in all, and available on a first-come basis with earliest orders receiving the lowest numbered certificates.

Edit: This item is no longer available. January 2013.

Sign our pastors message this morning was “Give thanks in all things. Look for the good in all things. I needed that . I think that was especially for me.With my swollen eyes I was so sad of what happened to Orfevre. I had to stop and pull back. He’s still with us nothing really bad happened to him.
Thanksgiving day I was surfing the TV and Gone with the Wind was on and I stopped and was watching it for a while. I thought about this morning how Scarlotte O’Hara said and (Tomorrow is Another Day.)Yes and Orfevre can have another day.
There was the prettiestsong sang this morning, Don’t know the name of it but it goes about (The Anchor Holds in Spite of the Storm) Just a beautiful solo that was done.

Ann, Sign, Keta, Thank you all for those really nice remarks above. I think maybe too after he lost I was afraid of not seeing him any more. Like so many times they go ahead and retire them after they lose a few. I really hope they don’t though. I want what’s best for him, but I hope he’s around racing longer and we can see a lot of him. Hope he stays healthy. Sure wish I could see him in person one day. Maybe he will come to the US one day.
Oh and yes the 20l0 Breeders Cup was devastating when Zenny lost. Love ya Zenny and it doesn’t matter weather you won or lost.
@Max you might appreciate this. At Churchill that day we couldn’t decide weather to drive over to Churchill or get a Cab. We got a Cab, Wrong decision. When the breeder cup was over we waited in line for about 2 hours to get a cab. Freezing Cold, So cold. You would inch up a little then stop. Some guys behind me from Canada they were really fussing a little tipsy too. They kept saying We should just leave and walk down the road to someone’s house and call someone anyone to come pick us up. We’ld get back to the hotel sooner.
See Zenny how much we all love you, Some of us would probably only do this for our beloved horses.
LOve you all and so glad we all met here.

Wondered where Zenny’s 1/2 sister went from 2011, thought she went abroad.
WHOO HOOO another of Zenny’s relative to race next year ???? Who will the trainer be???

“Last year’s star weanling was a half sister (by Henrythe-navigator) to multiple champion and 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta that sold for $1.5 million to Adena Springs. No million-dollar weanlings have been sold this year, but there is a silver lining. Seven weanlings sold so far this year have brought $400,000 or more compared with only three a year ago. Clearly the quality is available, and buyers are willing to pay for it.”

Gentildonna outstanding in Cup win over Orfevre
    By Sam Walker 10:15AM 26 NOV 2012
WORLD CLASS: an analysis of the international scene according to Racing Post Ratings
THE ORFEVRE project took another twist at the weekend. After three defeats this year, all partly attributable to the jockey, connections decided to remove the rider from the equation in the Japan Cup on Sunday.
The galloping four-year-old cruised up turning into the straight, cruised down the straight in his stretch battle with Gentildonna and cruised past the post in second. Jockey Kenichi Ikezoe didn’t raise his hand once, preferring to nudge his mount to the line.
Softly, softly could be the way this headstrong horse needs to be ridden, but his fourth defeat of the season, by a nose, to a rival who was given an altogether more vigorous ride, is yet another occasion where the rider can be said to have played a part – or not.
But let’s assume Ikezoe was right not to give Orfevre a reminder. The horse didn’t hang into the rail, or across the track, and didn’t appear to idle as he did at Longchamp, so perhaps this is the way to ride him. Perhaps this is the best Orfevre can be?

      Ann,
Guess this was before the horse whisperer : )
Horse threw at least 6-think one bounced off the tree.
Did notice the horse kicked over a man when he could have had a direct hit at him.
Glad that breaking methods are different today.

This isn’t included for any other reason than I love the name – Golden Sunshine – makes one feel really happy and peaceful: probably because of those beautiful prayers from Sign.

      Dear Kathy R,
Love this link/article and also glad you enjoyed the prayers.
We had a poster, during the diary time, that posted prayers
daily, she ended up getting a busy full-time job and was unable to
continue. I think that it would add a nice touch to rekindle the this tradition
adding another dimension to the site. So will continue to post them.

Golden Sunshine is a wonderful name, love the comment, “she had enough petrol”
      TOO CUTE !!!

SHACKELFORD CALLS IT A CAREER, Bloodhorse, racing experts.

very lovely photos’ of our boy.

He looks kind of bored being paraded around and around and around by the stallion
manager at Darby Dan. His coat is sure glistening, one healthy, sound (and there are so
few these days), horse with a great personality. Wonder if he is going to CROW HOP
to impress the “girls” ANN ?????

Sure hope Shack gets some good mares. That soundness needs to be passed on. So many of our horses are out even before their 3 year old season is over. It is good for the horses and good for the sport to have these guys sticking around for another year or so.

Dear Everyone: Can’t quickly find the piece on Frankel at stud that was in another local paper, so (with excuses for my typing) here it is:
“Change of pace for Frankel at stud. By Tony Arrold in The Australian:
A marked change in his diet and his exercise routine are the key differences budding stallion Frankel is getting used to as he faces a new career and life at stud. The superstar racehorse, retired from racing just over a month ago after an undefeated track career of 14 starts, was the centre of attention of an open day for the media at Banstead Manor Stud, the Newmarket property which became his new home two weeks ago. When in full training back at Henry Cecil’s Newmarket stables, the bulky bay son of Galileo would put away 10kg of Canadian oats daily to fuel the furnace firing his awesome energy levels. “He will have a lower amount of protein now – a combination of oats and stallion mix” Banstead’s stallion manager, Simon Mockridge said. “That mix includes molasses, maize, peas and all sorts of things – he doesn’t mind – put it in front of him and he eats it.” Gone too are the early morning spins on the expansive Heath gallops – sometimes a leisurely burst, often clock-busting rushes. His more sedate life requires a fitness regime to keep him in the right physical shape for the job ahead. Since his arrival at Banstead Manor, Frankel is simply walked for 1 and a half hours daily. He will continue this regime up to mid-February, according to Mockride, when he will be gradually introduced to his first mare. Frankel is due to serve between 125 and 130 mares in his debut season said stud general manager Philip Mitchell. He will be called to duty three times daily to the end of May. At a fee of $191,600 (125,000 pounds) that translates to about $25 million on paper, but 25 or 30 of those mares belong to Frankel’s breeder-owner, Prince Khalid Abdullah. Some 250 mare nominations have flooded in from all over the world. “We are spoilt for choice”, Mitchell said. “I’ve never been associated with a horse of such phenomenal worldwide interest”.

Great story. So glad you shared it. Sorry about having to type it.
So Frankel is in a different type of training–for breeding.
To me, he seems to have a very ambitious schedule
Hope Frankel can hold up physically.
