Dear Kathy.Happy May day to you!Beautiful devotional today. No signs of the royal baby yet!!I hope your aunt is feeling stronger, hospital is no place to recover!Poor Hovis, what can we do to help him!I’m sure he’d love the sunshine in CA.If you go on his FB I posted the latest update on Gizmo he’d had a spa day and Lavenham had donated a lovely rug for him. It’s such a feel-good story in this all too often sad world we inhabit.Marty’s mum bought Wimbley’s books for him so he could granulate but he didn’t get a hat!Gorgeous video of Joey and Tom today they certainly were a match made in Heaven.Haven said they had sleet last night think he lives in Michigan and there are no chippies about!Did’nt Mango look cute in her sunglasses but Brutus is up to his old tricks again aided by Abby!Judy is none too pleased.Mikko has had some lovely birthday gifts and like children preferred to play with the box!Ryan Moore is none too pleased with Newmarket they have moved the starting stalls for the guineas so the horses will not break into 2 groups don’t they remember Frankel straight up the middle of the course?Hope you have a wonderful day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXX

Think that this idea is a very good one to keep the horses together for better competition. Cecil once commented that the Guineas was not a good race for Frankel. It led Cecil to use a pacemaker in the following races. If you watch the race with Frankel, he was slowing down after the half way point and and loosing momentum at the end unlike Secretariat in the Belmont. Secretariat was actually increasing his lead as the race progressed. Secretariat was an incredible racehorse. He set records on all surfaces.
Ann NC
Zenny, your portrait is beautiful.
Happy Oaks racing day! Girl Power! Lots of gorgeous girls gracing the field today. Enjoy!
Have a nice Derby Day folks!
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Happy May Day! That’s too bad all that swimming didn’t cause Kate to go into labor. You know she’s anxious to have that baby! My aunt wants to go home so bad, but she’s very weak at this point. Continue to pray for her. The physical therapist is working at increasing her strength. We would love to have Hovis in CA. Glad to hear Gizmo had a spa day. That’s good Wimbley granulated. Sorry he didn’t get the hat, though. Joey and Tom were always the perfect team. You know Tom misses him terribly. The weather in Michigan is something I just can’t relate to. Sleet…hard to imagine! Mango always looks adorable. Brutus…behave! So glad Mikko enjoyed the box! lol Poor Ryan, I hope he can make peace with the changes. Safe trips for all the horses and jockeys running this weekend. Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO.

Just thought I would check in with my Derby selections. I like International Star and Firing Line, in that order and intend to box them in the exacta with American P.. Just remember, you may be a redneck if you have ever bought moonpie on eBay or if you can see a landfill, a strip club and a deer stand from your front porch.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
So good to have a post and a joke from you. You’ve been missed. I am all over the place with this Derby; so many talented horses. I do like, Carpe Diem, Dortmund, Frosted and Materiality (to name a few). Good luck with your picks. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Way to go, Terry. I like American Pharoah too but am going to go with Upstart. Some kind of box with Carpe Diem and Materality. Would not be sad at all if AF won. Have been a fan of the Zayats after Paynter.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Love it, Terry! Thanks for the jokes — I like MoonPies on occasion, but haven’t bought any on e-bay yet. :-)
Good luck with your picks!
Take care.

This horse is remarkable. Looks like Sadler’s Wells. He’s very determined and focussed when he runs. See that the win today was a hand ride.
Hope that Annie does well. She’s had a tough time this year.

I’m sharing Z Dumpling Karen Gogue’s ♥ CoZmic One video. The video is close to 15 minutes so sit back and enjoy! :-)
I’m usually in the saddling barn but on this day as I was awaiting the paddock judge so that I could call Riders UP! for his debut. That was an honor and a pleasure! Once in a lifetime moment.
Thank you CoZ for a wonderful ride here on the West Coast. Good luck back east. The fans are looking forward to seeing you again, Prince!

That was really a true pleasure to watch. Thanks to Karen for a great video and to Judy for posting it.

Dear Aunty Judy,
Thank you so much for posting this vid from @ Karen Gouge of the First Prince, Cozmic One, It was a real treat. Coz is just too precious but he’ll get the whole racing thing. Reminds me of Seabiscuit when he started racing and didn’t quite understand that he had to pass the horses when they raced and after he finally figured it out, that’s all the history she wrote.
I wonder when his next race is coming up, Maybe he’d be the spoiler in the Preakness and the Belmont. He likes the surface there so should be fine.
Wishing all a wonderful Derby Saturday. Much love to all. It is well at Z Nation always where the Queen resides.
Elizabeth in NM
Judy, This was so exciting to see Cozmic One’s 1st race! He’s truly from Zenyatta – so big and handsome and looks so much like her. I feel he will settle into his own rhythm more and more with each race. Thanks so much for posting.

My picks for the K-Derby
# 1 Dortmund
# 2 American Pharaoh
# 3 International Star
# 4 Carpe Diem
# 5 Firing Line
# 6 El Kabier
# 7 Frosted.
Dortmund is my number one pick, for sentimental reason, I pick his dad to win in the Florida- Derby, and in the Kentucky- Derby, and he won!!!!!
My pick for the Oaks is only one, Condo Commando, with my favorite Jockey Rosario!!!!!
Good luck to all.
Hugs Ingrid.
Ingrid Arnone
I think Condo Commando was not her self today; well we can’t win all…
Congratulations to #Lovely Maria & her Team!
pamhomeier
So happy for the jockey!!!!!!
maureen ph[llips
Dear Ingrid,
I think I agree with your pick for the sole reason that Dortmund has Heart. In all his races, he seems to dig deep down in his soul to come up with a win, pure Grit and a will to win. He needs to stay real close to American Pharoah whose short tail seems to propel him into the wind with less friction.
It would be interesting as it might be AP and Dort. Good luck on your picks and enjoy Derby Saturday. Try and get some rest this night. It is always well at Z Nation where the Queen resides and love abounds.
Ingrid Arnone
Dear Maureen,
thank you,
I am so glad you agree with me.
Hugs Ingrid.

Does this mean Frosted is the only gray in the race?
Get well, El K.
maureen ph[llips
Oh NO, get well big guy. There is still the Preakness and Belmont. Just concentrate on getting well. It is always well at Z Nation.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Secreteriat was a complete one-off a horse with a huge heart. As you know I have never liked comparing horses preferring to celebrate a champion on his day.We will see how the guineas goes tomorrow but I will never forget Frankel that day.Faugheen was superb .I hope Annie can win tomorrow she was cruising at Cheltenham when she tripped up.Sheena
Max
Secretariat was definitely the horse that God built. He’s in both the Canadian and American Halls of Fame. His last race was at Woodbine in Toronto on turf on the old track. He was only 3 but he took on older horses and won on a very cold and rainy day at the end of October. He also won at Belmont on the turf and set a course record. He didn’t even need training to do this. Truly a one of a kind.
Just read Moore’s comments about the Guineas. It seems to be more complicated than just moving the gates. I guess that they want the horses and jockeys to have better points of reference on the straight mile. Will have to see how it all works out.
Have you seen the line up for the Lockinge? I would like to see Al take it. There are a lot of great horses in that race.
Faithful Zenyatta Supporter
Cheers for Lovely Maria in The Oaks. So happy for Larry Jones.

Ooh – Lovely Maria lives up to her name!

So happy for Kerwin Clark!

Dear Max.Gosh,I picked the winner of your Oaks!I saw a video of Larry jones recently and just loved the name.Al is entered for the Prix Ganay on sunday.I haven’t seen the runners for the Lockinge yet. There is possibility that Al could run in the Prince of Wales against CC!!!Sheena.

Congrats for picking the Oaks winner.
I love Al. I always like to see him win. He is a truly beautiful horse in every way. His comeback after his retirement is a great story.

Dear Judy.I am so concerned about Nissy today not a word on his FB or Jennifer’s.Hope all is well.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaXStill patiently waiting for the royal baby!!

I still haven’t picked a favorite for the Derby, so I guess I’ll go with co-favorites: Dortmund and American Pharaoh. The experts are saying it’s the deepest Derby field in years , so pretty much anyone could win it including a horse no one expects. I kind of like that! A “dark horse”! Tomorrow is also being called one of the greatest sports days ever what with the Kentucky Derby being run, multiple NBA and NHL playoff games going on, and the “Fight of the Century” between Meriwether and Paciaou (or however you spell it) happening in Vegas. I’m sticking with the horses because I hate boxing and barely tolerate basketball and hockey.
Still waiting on Baby Cambridge the Sequel. I see some enterprising bookies have set up shop outside the hospital with the current odds on the sex of the baby and the name (rolling eyes). With all the bad news this week, it’d be nice to have the good news of another prince or princess being born! Fingers crossed it’ll happen soon!
Deb E.
It’d also be nice if we got some good news about Zenyatta’s recent date with War Front.
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
Tomorrow is the biggest day for 20 horses, jockeys, owners and trainers! I happen to like five of them the best. American Pharaoh, Carpe Diem, Dortman, Upstart and Frosted.
Then again, I have read about International Star and I do like him too. So you see, I would not know who I wanted to bet on!
It will be wonderful to see all these beautiful horses. I wish each a safe journey as well as their jockey’s.
hugs, Sally B

Sally,
Well said. This year I have about 5 or 6 I would like to see win. International Star is a bit of an under dog but the Ramsey have done so much for racing and been involved for so many years, it would be great to see them finally get a Derby. Just wish it was a homebred by Kitten’s Joy.
Dortmond is sooo handsome!

Hi All,
Here’s calling all my Z Nation family to try to get to bed early today so as to get in their beauty sleep and have clarity of mind when making their final picks tomorrow. Also be nice to have clear vision not one clouded by sleep.
I still think Dortmund will win because of his shear will to win, It will be a dog fight between him and AP especially if he stays close, AP has pure speed and stamina; we will be happy with whoever wins. Let us not however discard Firing Line as he is always right behind these 2 in their races. Tomorrow might just be his day.
Am in agreement with Ingrid and think Dortmund might just win it .
Good luck to all and especially the players in the game called the Kentucky Derby that they would all come back safe and sound with their riders. It is well always at Z Nation where the Queen resides.

Praying for a safe trip for all the horses today.
Hope Carpe Diem behaves himself and that Johnny V holds on tight and keeps the seat of his pants clean.
Hope Dortmond behaves as he is being saddled.

Zenny, Beautiful painting of you by Jaime! We love our print. If someone visiting here didn’t know better, they might think you’ve moved home with us! Zenyatta sculpture, prints, “Zenyatta Way” sign over my studio desk, and your ‘Dancing’ print on one of the studio walls! Love having ‘you’ here with us! So looking forward to watching your Cozmic One and Ziconic grow into their own and make their mark in race history too. May 2 Cherokee Devotional
Gramps spoke lovingly of the “fellows” that swam up to the dock where his fishing lines were dropped over the side. He talked to them as though they understood every word-and they took the hook.
It is said of the fisherman that never catches anything that he never will. He keeps going but he keeps saying he is not lucky, and his spirit leads him to where there are no fish. He believes in chance, which all people believe when they don’t know their own spirits. Not only does it work this way when he is fishing but in all he tries to do.
In order to honor Him I must honor His works in nature.

Dear Kathy.Beautiful devotional and I hope your aunt is improving slowly.I am keeping her in my prayers.Such excitement over here about the royal Princess. We waited so long and it was all over so quickly!!I never put the TV on in the morning so heard a reference to a baby’s weight on the Graham Norton show on the radio and thought OMG the baby’s arrived and they had just announced the birth. It’s delightful to have a little Princess after all these years I know Prince Andrew had girls but they were not so close to the throne. They may even go home this evening.Sure to hear the name in a couple of days. Her hairdresser has just gone in so who knows??I do hope they pay tribute to Diana in some way she had always wanted a daughter. We shall see.
The big race is on over here soon at 3.45pm.Doubt we will get another Frankel.Annie Power is racing across the Irish sea today so hope all goes well for her.The ratties reminded me of Oliver Twist asking for more.I haven’t had much time to look anywhere else today but am worried about Nissy no word yet!Have a wonderful Saturday.Love and hugs to you Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XXX
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
My aunt was much better when I visited her last night. Thank you for your prayers! We’re pretty excited about the Princess over here, I can just imagine how over the moon everyone is in the UK. I’m sure Diana will be one of her names. Wow, if the hairdresser visited they’ll probably go home pretty soon. Enjoy the big race today. I hear you, how could there be another horse to compare with Frankel. Good wishes going out for Annie Power. I’m certainly looking forward to the Derby. Safe trip for all the horses and jockeys. You’re right, the ratties asking for more food was very reminiscent of Oliver Twist. I hope Nissy is better. You always worry when there is no word. Happy Saturday to you. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
