Our little Princess has a name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.Lovely tribute to both grandparents!!Hugs SheenaX
Elizabeth in NM
Sheena, Love the name Charlotte and am exited about Elizabeth Diana, which happens to be my first and middle name (well ‘Dianne’), but close. So excited for the happy couple and their new baby girl. Must be fun for you to have a ‘Royal Family’. We were watching a documentary on castles in England, and learned George Washington and his family lived there. Can’t remember which castle, but will post it if I can get my brain to come up with it. So over here in the U.S., we Americans may a few Royal connections. We have more ‘cowboys/ranchers’ on both sides of mine and also my husbands families; except my Dad was of French descent about 3 generations back. My husband has a history going back to at least 1053 of Scottish and British. Am still working on his family’s geneology, so might be able to go back a bit farther. Hope you have a wonderful day. with love, Elizabeth

Read once that Diana, Princess of Wales, was 11th cousin, twice removed of George W. Bush.

Sheena,
Lovely name but I was hoping for “Diana” first, She is a beautiful filly isn’t she. hugs

Dear Kathy.Home is where the heart is really.Well we have a name there was a flurry of bets for Charlotte on saturday I preferred Alice myself.I am so happy they included Diana though. There was a 21 gun salute for Charlotte this morning.
Still no news of Nissy it’s such a mystery and it isn’t an internet problem because Jennifer posted on her FB yesterday.I am sure he has crossed the bridge but wish I knew for certain!Fubu bless him is doing quite well weight is stable and infection has cleared plus he got to visit Petco after seeing the doc!!His mum is a little better too.He is a miracle kitty and will be 16 next month!!James and Bob have raised so much for the cat café and a calendar is coming out in Germany of all places! He has nearly 300,000
friends now.Gosh Mr Fibbs was a naughty boy peeing on his brothers and they all got baffs!!It’s a holiday over here in the UK so monday isn’t cancelled!Zoe picked my favourite pic for the contest Diane and Ken left her to go to a wedding I think and she had a bridesmaid’s dress all ready!Miss Kitty’s mum wasn’t well yesterday so much stress I am sure but Miiko had a great birthday and they’ve been enjoying the good weather in the garden. It’s been bootiful with Ray too and is dry on the dyfi lovely pic of Glesni turning her eggs in the early hours!Hope all is well with your aunty today.Have a great Monday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXXX
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Lots of happy news today. I think I have to agree with you that the name Alice would have been nice, but we will get used to Charlotte. I agree it was a nice touch to pay tribute to Diana. I thought they would. Sadly, it does sound like Nissy is gone but as you say it would be good to know for sure. I am amazed that Fubu is still here. Just goes to show what a good vet he has along with miracle drugs. That’s great James and Bob raised so much. Mr. Fibbs is a VERY naughty boy indeed. I wonder if that is typical rat behavior. Anyway, YES baths all around was certainly called for. A few weeks back they posted on some deodorizer they use to help with the rat smell. While they are pretty cute I’m sure there is a lot to cope with in that respect. Well enjoy your holiday. You won’t have to turtle-turtle! I felt bad for Zoe not getting to go with her parents. Such a shame she didn’t get to wear her fancy bridesmaid dress. She’s in a contest. I voted for her and also ordered a calendar. I hope her picture is included! Sorry Miss Kitty’s mum wasn’t well. I’m sure as you say it’s the stress. That’s good that Miiko had a nice birthday. Ray deserves lots of nice weather after the severe winter. Glesni is such a good mother, bless her. My aunt was transferred to a rehab center yesterday. The move was hard on her but she should be ready to go home in about a week. Have a great day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

My goodness the little princess already had a 21 gun salute how very special.
I absoluetly love that name with both Elizabeth and Diana in it.
I think it is good that her first name is Charlotte so she has her own idenity
with those two lovely second and third names to give her wonderful strength
beauty and character from her grandmother Princess Diana and Her Royal
Highness The Queen of England Elizabeth.

I don’t usually post a comment on here unless it’s about ♥ Queen Zen. However, I read this interesting article about the Kentucky Derby winner American Pharaoh, and his earplugs. They mentioned our Zenny :-)
http://www.si.com/horse-racing/2015/05/04/american-pharoah-earplugs-dortmund-bob-baffert
It’s not clear how many racehorses use earplugs, but the practice is not uncommon. The mare Zenyatta, who won the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2009, won Horse of the Year in ’10 and didn’t lose a race until the final start of her 20-race career, had absorbent cotton stuffed into her ears at all times outside her stall from very early in her training. “Early on, we could see that she was distracted by people yelling around the barn or by the sound of a rider hitting a horse with a whip,” says John Shirreffs, who trained Zenyatta. “Those overreactions would affect her ability to relax.”
Shirreffs said he frequently uses plugs or cotton as a temporary aid, and sometimes more intensively. “Horses have a very keen sense of hearing,” says Shirreffs. “If a horse is distracted by a situation with a lot of clapping or other noises, they’re going to get wound up and waste energy, especially high-strung, Grade I caliber horses. You need them to calm down a little to relax and cover a distance of ground. Now maybe with a sprinter, you want noise, to keep him engaged.”
Terry Crow
This is an interesting article. There is an old racing movie named “Wall of Noise,” starring Ty Hardin, which deals with this subject. The problem is–I don’t think anyone has been it except me.
Rosemary McCauley
Terry – I recognize the name TV Hardin but I have not seen the movie. I wonder if it’s available to view. I would like to see it.
Terry Crow
Rosemary–See my reply on Page 6. I will let you know.
Marypny
Dear JAG,
Thanks for the interesting article. It’s really such a simple thing to relax them, that is, if they don’t mind them.
I want to compliment you on spelling his name right, even though it’s wrong!!HA!

♥Auntie Judy aka JAG So. California
LOL spell check fixed it! I know how to spell it :-)
Max
Great article. It mentions the use of a hood with ear covers. Noble Mission used to wear one. It made him look like Zorro. He sometimes wore it around the Cecil barn at Warren Place too. Hurricane Fly favors the cotton balls like Zenyatta used.
shirleeinindy
Max,
Remember that white thing that Gate Dancer wore? Covered his ears and almost his entire head.
Max
Same for NM. His however was black with Henry Cecil’s initials on the forehead. Cecil used to import them from Europe for his horses who needed them.

What an amazing Saturday! The Derby really did match the hype. The visuals from Churchill Downs on NBC were gorgeous. Started watching at 10:30 am until the end of coverage. Sunday tremendous race hangover. Didn’t watch anything. Tara and Johnny aren’t annoying when they cover figure skating. I wish they had some commentators that were more into racing. I guess I’m too old school.

So very sad to hear darling Nissy died on Thursday morning. His little body could take no more.He is at peace now.He meant the world to me a little boy with a girl’s name.He wanted the royal baby to be named Princess Nerissa so that’s how she will be known by me.RIP my sweetheart.MOUSES!!!Love and hugs SheenaX

Dear Sheena,
Awww…I was afraid of that. May he RIP. So sorry, Sheena. Hugs, Kathy

Sheena. I am sorry to hear this news. I know that you really loved this cat and he was very real to you and the others who followed his many adventures. It is a pity that he was not appointed to the Canadian Senate as he seemed to be very sensible and wise. As you may recall, Nerissa is a family name of the Bowes-Lyon family, so that it is royal in its own way through The Queen Mother. MOUSES forever, Nissy.

Dear Max, Kathy and Judy.I was getting desperate for news today so I asked Savannah’s mom if she had heard anything and she told Jennifer who messaged me.Jennifer cannot face social media at the moment but may write a blog later this week.I think he passed quickly in the end because he seemed a bit brighter on Wednesday. His blogs were a joy to read and I am so sad he didn’t make it to the Senate!Long live Princess Nerissa!!
Max have you heard JFK is running at Leopardstown sunday it’s make or break for him and Ol’ Man River is at York next week Aidan is hopeful for a better run from them both.Hugs Sheena.
Max
Sorry for Jennifer too. Let us know what she had to say about Nerissa. BTW are you a Jennifer too? Sheena Jennifer Davies is a very nice name.
Heard about JFK and Ol’ Man RIver. O’Brien does not appear to be too concerned about either one of them. Just passed it off as two poor races. Any horse can have an off day. No talk at all of gelding those guys, especially Ol’ Man River, who carries the Montjeu bloodline.

Nissy was a Sweetheart. RIP beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Yes,I am Sheena Jennifer!I have no idea who peep#2 is.Nissy never mentioned whether they were male/female.Jennifer will miss Nissy a lot despite having other cats although all the aunties(remember them)are gone now.Oh,no they would never geld Ol’Man River.Everyone is allowed a stinker.Poor Glesni is getting soaked tonight!!Hugs Sheena.
Max
Very good name you have, as Yoda would say. Was thinking of those aunties. They were spitfires.
Coz, JFK, Ol’ Man River, Upstart, all blue bloods, impeccably bred, but they all finished last in a very high profile way. Was thinking of Danny, who once finished 8th just to see how it felt. Let’s hope that those fellows have some better races around the corner. Coz, pay attention to John Shirreffs.
Was recently thinking of Henry Cecil’s reaction when Thomas Chippendale and Noble Mission both messed up their races at Ascot. Cecil just shrugged, smiled and said that they were both babies: one was just a bigger baby than the other. I think that he was referring to their size. He often used to call his 2 year old horses, backward. Had to laugh as these were some of the best horses in the world. It’s all relative.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy.Yes,Nissy is safe in Heaven now with all his feline relatives and friends. He had a wonderful life with his peeps.I hope they draw comfort from that.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs.SheenaX

First things first, Congratulations on the Royal Princess’s name. So happy her grand ma is represented. She looks like she’d be a tough little Princess.
Secondly, so sad about Nissy, like you aptly stated, she rests now in heaven now with the rest of her dearly departed pip’s;
RIP big boy. It is well. You’ll be forever in our hearts.
Re @ Glesni, hope she’s staying warm.
Hope you have a great day when the dawn comes. Much love always.
Max
I don’t know the details about Nissy like SJD does, but I know one thing. Nerissa was a male and very proud of it. He often referred to himself as a “MAN cat.” It was a sensitive subject with him because he had been given a girl’s name by peep #1. He talked about this on many occasions.

May 5 Cherokee Devotional
Many weary and travel-worn Cherokee on the Trail of Tears ended their journey at a place called Blue Springs. Their first glimpse of these gushing springs must have made them question what could color the water the same hue as the blue bird.
So much of nature startles us with its unusual works. Boulders and bluffs and gigantic trees were a part of the Cherokee’s past-but blue water the color of a blue bird? It may have been a natural phenomenon but to them it was a sign that the worst of the journey had ended. When something tells us to rest now, and to be at peace, it always remains a symbol, a promise that from now on things will improve.
When I make peace, it is a long and lasting one-there is no end to it.

Just saw on Bloodhorse.com that my boy Lea is at Keeneland and had a workout. Hope the Dubai trip did not take too much out of him. AND he did come home with a million dollars.
Don’t know about you all but I miss my favorites when they retire. I am glad Muchie retired sound but I do miss him every day. Of course, my stomach doesn’t miss the week of nerves before one of his races.

Dear Shirlee:
Godspeed Lea next time out. Yes, I too miss my favorites when they retire from racing. Try to keep track of them. Wish news on our favorites was as accessible to fans as the Moss’s make it for us with Z. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Kathy.Beautiful devotional. It’s pretty stormy here today very unseasonal weather! There was a sweet pied flycatcher visiting the Dyfi this morning. The new female at Lowes is having a thorough soaking too.I said a little prayer for Nissy last night and thought of all the cats I have lost since following them.Heard Jambon’s brother Winston died last week but he was 19.He had a stroke and passed quickly.I had always hoped Nissy had a few more years left.We never know when God is ready to call us home.
Lovely videos of the pompals they are so well trained.Miiko has had a taste of the outdoors now and escaped when Jillian was calling Miss Kitty she managed to grab him by the tail very undignified!!Did you see Fubu’s nana such a pretty lady it was her birthday. He’s a survivor!!!Gosh, thank goodness the little dog and cat survived the dreadful fire was it in Atlanta?Blue is growing rapidly I have never understood pom owners getting far bigger dogs!Mango had some more gifts yesterday including the must-have napkins(diapers)Her Majesty is getting to meet the new Princess today she has returned from Sandringham.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXXX

Dear Vicki,
I totally agree with you about the number of cats don’t matter because they all have different personalities and that’s why we love them.
I once had 12 cats, am not even lying, there was the gray male cat who thought I was his sweet heart for lack of a better word, Every night he would come sleep at the head of where ever am sleeping and in the morning his was gone. Then there was the one that had a tail like a squirrel so I called him Squirrey, in the mornings, he, on the other hand would come in and lick my face to wake me up. How cute. So I understand what you mean or saying.
Have an awesome day. It is well always at Z Nation. Much love.

Dear Barbara Brayton,
Our dearly departed Bert must have been a chief!! with 3 wives and 29 offsprings, When is the royal burial going to be? Please let us know so we can pay our last respects to him. Like Sheena said, his greatest legacy are his kids. Waoh.
May his wives and kids be comforted knowing that he lived to a ripe old age and was a productive member of society. May his soul rest in perfect peace. He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by those who loved him the most and us at Z Nation. It is well. Thanks for the information though sad. Have a good rest of the day. Much love.

That’s a good man name for a hippo. I hope that your zoo has other hippos to carry on the legacy of this guy. RIP Bert.

Dear Max.I got the book called”Rescued” earlier this year and there was a chapter about Nissy’s early days.He was born under a woodpile in a neighbour’s garden. The peeps had often see his mum in the garden and put out food for her so one day she bought Nissy and his siblings to their back door.It took a while to tempt them indoors but eventually they all came in!Jennifer told me that they have lost 6 cats in the last eighteen months mostly elderly except for Nissy’s sister Beatrice who died very suddenly from a heart attack. They still have 7 cats. She is very upset about Nissy but is hoping to post a blog tomorrow.Nissy was a very fortunate cat really his mum knew where to take her little ones!Hugs Sheena.
Max
No doubt at all that she is upset. He was one great cat. I particularly liked his defence of poor Marius. I was hoping that you were wrong, but I secretly knew that you would sense his passing as his devoted admirer. There was a lot to admire about that cat. Love of animals from horses to cats to hippos is a character plus in all people.
