Zenyatta Holiday Shopping

A few of the items available from the Zenyatta Shop

Happy Thursday!

For those of you late-running holiday shoppers, the Zenyatta Shop can still put you in the winners circle for the holidays. All Zenyatta Shop domestic orders (except personalized items) placed prior to Wednesday 12/19 will be delivered in time for Christmas. We can even accommodate purchases placed before 12/21 with overnight delivery. Let Zenyatta take the worry out of gift-giving and have the happiest of holidays this year!

We’d also like to note that Zenyatta Collectors who purchased the now sold-out limited edition Breyer Glossy Foal at the Zenyatta Shop are proving to be savvy investors. These very special foals are now selling on the secondary market for prices as high as $200 each. That’s an amazing eight-fold return on the initial offering price in only two months! For those of you interested in our other limited edition keepsakes, we wanted to give fair warning we have less than 30 pieces of the Zenyatta Plushie left in stock, and the Little Zen pewter figurines are going fast with very few remaining pieces left in the golden version of the edition. Don’t get left at the gate if you want one of these coveted Zenyatta collectibles!

Edit: These items are no longer available. January 2013.

I watched HRTV’s interview with John, he was with E in her stall
and it showed the piece of her hide missing.
It was a pretty good chunk , but
    good it was superficial.

Just went to the shop area and looked at the artwork of The Queen’s Dance. Oh, if only Zenyatta still looked like that! She is too good to have retired on her only loss! Now the poor girl is not looking like that anymore as she will always be pregnant. The poor girl looks like an overweight Quarter Horse, just a bit taller. All we have is memories. Let’s hope the owner of Ebby keeps her going if she does well, mares can run more years than Zenny did, and they do overseas, and facing colts.
Lets hope Zenyatta is not kept to be a baby machine, she is far more magnificent than that. Love ya Zenny

She is just as beautiful as a broodmare (mother of 12Z and the soon to come 13Z) as she was on the racetrack. She was a champion on the track and now is a champion as a mom,

How sweet,a Curlin filly. Seems there are a few more out there!
Bet this track announcer wishes for the good ole ONE syllable names! What a mouth full in that race.

Curlamorous (filly; Curlin – Glamorous Lady by Kingdom of Spain) was favored in Race 6 at Laurel Park, a 5.5 furlong Allowance/Optional Claiming Race, dueled from the start, and edged away late to win by 1 1/4 lengths. She now has 2 wins and 2 seconds in four starts, with earnings of $46,200. Watch the Replay.

Anyway…hope everyone has a nice day.

Belated Happy Birthday to Kim S. and another BRAVO to Trina!
Darlene – how was the party? Nobody noticed the silverware, right?
Debbie – how was your dinner at the place the Mosses visited?
Ebby – so sorry about your mishap yesterday – you must have been just as disappointed as WE were about missing the race, but thank goodness it doesn’t seem real serious. Hope you will have another opportunity to RUN in the near future!
Everyone – I find myself getting a little overwhelmed by everything that is going on (holidays, the world in general, etc). Hope we can all take some moments to relax and ponder how VERY fortunate we are to have this wonderful Z family!

Happy Belated Birthday, Kim! I hope we can get together the next time you’re in town.

Another magnificent poem, Trina! You never cease to amaze me with your talent.

I had a good time at the Heirloom Friday night. My waiter was new and didn’t know the Mosses, but I talked to the chef and he said that he remembered the night the Mosses came in and got the call that Zenny was in labor. He said they were there with Will Farish that night and we talked about how nice the Mosses are and how amazing Zenny is. They’ll be getting that call again before you know it!

I’m so disappointed that Ebby was scratched. All that matters though is that she’s safe and sound.

One thing that is very important, the trainer only trains.

The owner’s pay the bills and direct the campaign, and it may not

Dear Sheena: fear you are right – it just goes to confirm how unique are Mr and Mrs Moss in their true love for Zenyatta. Neil Werrett (her majority owner) is also part-owner of Vinery Stud, who have just acquired All Too Hard, Nelly’s half-brother. They intend to try him overseas (? Ascot) before retiring him to stud. I wonder if they still have thoughts on trying for a Frankel mating, and would send the mare to England along with the half-brother. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Hope your weather is okay – we’re looking at heatwave for a week – temps. up to 36 so hope no fires. Hugs. KathyR.

Dear Sheena: Canberra (where I live) is inland (unfortunately), so we just put up with the heat. I regularly check in on a place called Higgins Beach in Maine where they have a great web-cam looking onto the Bay – this morning it was covered in snow, and the water looked seriously cold. But I wish I was there – just not big on the over 32 temperatures – think it’s easier to get warm than cold, but then again I’m talking Australian winter temperatures, not the frozen stuff you folk deal with in winter. Great news about Kauto – he has been talked about over here too. Hugs. KathyR. PS. Good to see the Duchess looking well again.

Dear Sheena: Believe me, I do understand what it must be like not to have warm summers – my niece and nephew both live in London, and really whinge sometimes about the weather! Mum is just pottering about – she’s convinced Christmas has been and gone and that my sister and I are balmy to be going on about it. But she’s safe. And the shingles have departed (thank you God). Hugs, KathyR.

We have two birthday ladies today, Abigail in Montreal and Celeste in Texas.

A Birthday Poem for Abigail in Montreal
    (December 18, 2012)

    This yuletide,
    As we for Christmas wassail,
    Let’s all remember
That this eighteenth day of December
Is the birthday of our dear Abigail.
’Tis she who on her blog The Vault
    Records in loving detail
    Thoroughbred racing lore,
Telling great stories those gone before.
This poem is far too short
Even a small fraction to tell
    Of all the thrilling action
    In the kingly sport
    She chronicles so well.
    May it suffice to say,
    The only fault
    Of dear Abigail’s Vault
Is that it never does fail
To leave us asking for more!
    I with pleasure also recollect
How on Canada Day (July the first)
    Our dear Abigail
    With a national pride
    Which we all could detect
    Nearly burst
    When she did decide
    On Zenny’s Tribe
    To post the tale
    Of her country’s national horse,
    Called the Canadian, of course,
    A breed of distinction
That’s been saved from threatened extinction.
    The Canadian does descend
    From horses sent to Quebec
    In 17th-century times
    From royal France
    To serve without fail
    Adventurous men
    Who took that risky chance
To the New World to sail
    And then,
    Continuing their daunting trek
    On untamed trails
    Through northern climes,
    On their horses did depend.
    As Abigail
    Did us then tell,
When settlers began trees to fell
    And farms to tend,
The Canadian horse was also asked
    His strength to lend
    To that task,
    And he his majestic neck
    Did bend
    To pull the plow,
    (Or “plough,” as Abigail
    Does it spell,
    In the true British style.)
    Then too,
’Twas the Canadian horse that drew
    The coaches bringing the mail
Through rain and snow and hail,
    And many a wintry gale.
    As Abigail
    Did to us further recount,
    Canadians today stand most typically
    15 hands three,
And it may come as no surprise
    That them you’ll see
    As the ONLY mount
Of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police,
By that you can tell how high they rate
    In Canadian eyes!
And you’d be correct if you surmise
    That overseas
    On the English isle
    You’ll also some Canadians see
When the Queen the colors does troop.
    Dear Abigail
    Also gave us the scoop
That passing years did the breed’s
    Numbers curtail–
When the US its bicentennial did celebrate,
    Just four hundred cherished steeds
    In Canada were still alive.
But, since its people did this horse highly prize,
    The nation did together strive
    The proud breed to revive,
    And I can thankfully say
    They’ve had great success,
    So, hurray!
    The Canadian breed today
    Does thrive!
    We Canada do commend
That they didn’t let this noble breed end!
    In closing let me say,
Abigail in Montreal, dear Canadian friend,
We hope you may this birthday spend
    In a most celebratory way.
We wish you continued health and happiness,
    And all the very best!

Happy birthday, Abigail, and many, many happy returns!

This year’s poem for Celeste, followed by a repost of last year’s poem, slightly revised.

A Birthday Poem for Celeste in Texas
    (December 18, 2012)

    Dearest Celeste,
    You write
    You’re dropping hints
    This December
    Designed to convince
    Each loving family member
    That the best shopping site
For a birthday or Christmas gift
    With which they might
    Seek you to delight
Is right here on Z’s page,
    Since anything related to Z
Will give your spirits a lift.
    Personally, for any age,
    I recommend the plushie
    Of Zenyatta and 12Z —
    It does evince
    Z’s love for her prince,
And it makes my heart feel all mushy.
    Dearest Celeste,
    I wish you every success
    With your hints,
    And the very best
    In the year to come.
I hope your birthday’s full of fun!

Happy birthday, Celeste, and many, many happy returns!

A Birthday Poem for Celeste in Texas
    (December 18, 2011)

    This November
    Celeste was filled with gratitude
    While sharing Thanksgiving food
With her family round the table.
    When she counted her blessings,
From her comments here I’m guessing
    She also did remember
Z in her Lane’s End stable
    And gave thanks for Z’s
    Thrilling victories,
And then for Z’s heartwarming entries
    In her Diary pages.
    Now Celeste takes every chance
To follow all the new stages
    As Z transitions to motherhood.
Both she and Z find it all good.
    On the Diary, Celeste
    Did recently see
    “The Queen’s Dance,”
    And its beauty her led
    A print to request
    From her hubby,
    And he–may he
    By God be blessed—
    Straight away did say yes!
    Celeste has said
    They’ve celebrated many an anniversary
    Of being wed,
Their love has been a great boon.
In just a few short years—
    Hear, hear!—
    They’ll reach year fifty.
    Celeste did mention
    She does believe
It is not at all too soon
    To draw their kids’ attention
    To how nifty
    It would be
For mom and dad to receive
    A bronze of Z!
    For like many of us
Who are of an age for a pension,
    When we must
    Often to doctors resort
And sometimes have a lab report
    That calls for an intervention,
    Celeste finds thinking of Z
    Is some of the best
    Medicine that could be–
For her it helps to relieve
    The sting
    Of less agreeable things,
    And this I too believe!
Dear Celeste, we hope your heart sings
As your family round you rings
To celebrate your day of birth
Exactly one week before that of the King
    Who came to Earth.
    (Note to the offspring:
    Don’t be misers—
Get Mom and Dad that Nina Kaiser!)

Thank you so much, Trina!! How perceptive you are that I’ve been hinting to my family about all the fun shopping choices here on Zenyatta’s great site. I am blessed with such a wonderful family that understands my love of our beautiful Queen. Today’s birthday will be celebrated much differently than we had originally planned though because we had to put my husband in the hospital last night with a COPD flare up. Hopefully once they get him over the hump and able to breathe better he might be out of there later today or at least tomorrow. That would be the greatest birthday present I could ask for!! Again, thank you so much, Trina. I so appreciate your talent!!

Dear Zenny fans, Dumplings and All,

Lord god, may we be grateful for our life,
and compassionate toward all those who are
not as fortunate or in distress at this holiday time.

May we hold back nothing, and
hasten to be the ministers of prayer,
like the disciples of Him who went about doing
    good in times of need.

    Amen

May your Holidays be filled with family and friendship.
