Tomorrow the director of ministries at Cedar Community of Cedar Valley will be coming out to give Frito his blessings at approx. 4:30-5 p.m. I think this is wonderful and I will be out there anyway; so I will take a break and join in for our sweet old Frito. I spent a while currying him and whistling soft music and gave him a gentle hug. Gee, you can feel ribs and bones and I am sad to say but His time is near. He is not in pain so I do think he is enjoying the last of his days here.

Dear Kathy R:
Well after much a time spent I found my post that referred to “sour grapes” on the April 17th blog page 7 written to Keta regarding someone bashing her about FB and twitter and it being false and hype and all that jazz! As I already mentioned I remember saying it but I didn’t remember where it was said, well now I know, I don’t see a post from you on the page before or after, so I don’t know how you took it so personally towards you?
But since you did, again I send my sincere apologies if you were offended or hurt.
GirlSaratoga
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
GirlSaratoga, we know you didn’t “do anything wrong” nor would try to hurt someone, and Kathy R. knows that too, as she came back to tell us she was feeling bad about it all, for a time, but has recovered. Maybe with some time, if you feel better about it, you will come back, too. I hope so, but understand, you’re not feeling that way, at the moment. Thanks.
Louise Castello
We all know you would never be mean to anyone unless it was really warranted and that you were taking up for Keta who we all love and I don’t think Kathy R. meant to be mean to Keta either. It was all a misunderstanding and I understand Keta may have felt the way she did because of “past events” and we all know what I mean. Keta is important here and Kathy R. is important and YOU are important. Please reconsider! You are one of the good ones and you would be missed as would Keta and Kathy R. and, actually, most everyone here. Overall, Zenyatta.com is a very loving place. I don’t even post much on the blog but I sure do enjoy reading everyone else’s posts and learning something new every single day!

We are One.
We are from the great continents and the island nations between.
We are from all cultures, languages, colors, genders, ages and backgrounds.
We are horse lovers, horse owners, horse rescuers-united under the

This weekend on May 5th, a horse owned by Anne & Jerry Moss and

The horse’s name-One World.
When I read this, I thought how perfect–with the Oaks, Derby, Japan,

Well said Keta! Right on!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio) PUR, PUJ
Another “well said” from me Keta. I think what we all tend to forget sometimes is that communication by way of ONLY the written word is simply going to lead to trouble from time to time. I know we have no other choice here, but without being able to hear the inflection in someone’s words or see their facial expressions, we can easily misinterpret the message. I hope that GS and Kathy R will try to consider the circumstances and some of the past issues that have made everyone a bit sensitive. Everyone’s contributions are important, and many of us have said that this is really like a family. There will be difficult times along with the good times, but we all have to hang in there, support each other, and remember how blessed we are for this opportunity to form bonds across borders that we wouldn’t have even imagined just a couple of years ago.
Barbara Wood (Texas)

@ Girl Saratoga–Let me add my name to the list of those who hope you will NOT leave!! Always love reading your posts and know that you would never direct intentionally hurtful remarks to anyone here. This site is such a blessing to so many–no other site could ever take it’s place and I really hope you will stick with all of us.
@ Kathy R.–I’m glad you decided to come back!1 Was wondering what had happened to you. We all love hearing from “down under”–and love hearing your viewpoints on things. I always tell Barnaby that he has a friend all the way across the world and give him the messages you have sent him and tell him they are from “Kathy R’.
What an exci8ting Derby Day it was!! What a great race, with great riding and no horrendous injuries or worse!! As some of you may remember,I had gone to So. Cal. this past weekend to see my grand-daughter play the lead in her college musical,Legally Blonde, which came off in spectacular fashion,by the way. I saw the opening Friday night, went again Sat. night, and saw about 2/3 of it at the Sunday matinee before my daughter had to take me to the airport to fly out for home!! Saturday,Dana,my daughter, and her husband,Frank, and I just hung out and watched Derby stuff all day. I started at 8AM and watched all the way through! Just loved it all!!
So glad the Z Shop is back! Especially with all of those great photos. I LOVE the print with Little Red and Z running, with the spring-flowering trees in the background. I hope it will be available later in the small size as well–as I live in a studio condo with so many pictures crowded on to the walls, that I have no place to hang the big one!! I imagine that,as time goes on,other items will be added. I know a lot of us want the CD we remember having heard about.
Barnaby seemed very glad to see me when I went down last night. Of course,he is always on the look out for the goodies I always bring him,so I know that is part of it—- am looking forward to riding again on Saturday-hope it’s a good day. We’ve been having some rqiny days—which we NEED–but, now that we are back at East Fork, with no indoor arena,if it rains,we’re out in it and I won’t put a saddle on Barnaby if he is at all wet–it’s too uncomfortable for him.
Hope z and her beautiful sons have had a lovely day and will have a blessed and peaceful night! Love to all—Sue—and Barnaby John and Traveller

Dear Zenyatta and Friends,
What a wonderful Kentucky Derby this Saturday!!!! I was cheering for Orb like crazy when he was coming down the stretch. It was fantastic to see individuals who for years have given so much to the thoroughbred and the sport of horseracing standing in that winners circle. Congratulations go out to Stuart Janny, the Phipps Stable, Shug McGaughey, all of the connections and everyone at Claiborne Farm!
This weekend had me thinking back to 1973. It was my sophomore year in high school and the year I first fell in love. He was a red headed, well built, tall, athletic type. He was a fantastic runner. He had a great personality, a little mischievous perhaps and he loved posing for the camera. Humble, he was not. I had some of those amazing pictures of him on my walls. Of course, I wasn’t the only one smitten, for that was the summer a nation fell in love with Secretariat. It is hard to believe that 40 years have passed since that magical time of Secretariat’s Triple Crown races, for they live on in our mind as if it were yesterday. He introduced me to horseracing and it has been a remarkable part of my life ever since. I put together a little something to express a love I still hold dear and to honor his memory; I hope you all enjoy it.
Love and hugs, Dawn

Dawn,
My computer won’t play it, either! :( But, like you, I fell in love with Big Red when I was all of fourteen (see? I told everyone I was OLD). I actually cried watching the finally minutes of the movie “Secretariat” and I was SO glad it was dark in the theater, so no one would see me! LOL.
A few years back, I even wrote an entire (fictional, mostly) novel, incorporating my girlhood love of horses and race horses (and Secretariat) throughout the book. After much deliberation, I even let my siblings read the novel, and was pleasantly surprised to find they liked it.
I will try again in a few days to access your tribute to Big Red. I hope it works!
Mary
PS…. it’s even more amazing to think that 40 years later, all three of Big Red’s Triple Crown race times still stand!!!
Janet Newman
Dawn,
What a beautiful tribute! I too was in high school when I fell in love with Secretariat. I will always remember my mouth just dropping open watching that Belmont. Many human athletes have seen their records broken multiple times. But our equine superstar’s has not been matched or broken. He was one of a kind.
Our other triple crown champions of that decade were unique as well in their accomplishments, but Secretariat was one of a kind.
Celeste_in_TX
What a beautiful tribute you created, Dawn. Thank you for sharing. I tried to leave a comment at smilebox, but not sure if it worked. Thanks!
Terry Crow
Dawn-Just wonderful. I was fortunate enough to hear the music,. which fitted the tribute. It has occurred to me that there is a connection between this year’s Derby winner and Secretariat. Wasn’t it Ogden Phipps who “won” the fateful coin toss which resulted in Penny Chenery’s ownership of Big Red? Anyone who is interested should read The Horse That God Built, which is basically about Big Red’s relationship with Eddie Sweat. I would have loved to have been there when the author talked about Eddie with some of his old pals.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
Yes, it was Ogden Phipps who won the coin toss, but really lost in the end. I just purchased the book by Timothy Capps, Secretariat – Racing’s Greatest Triple Crown Winner. Includes some great photos of Eddie Sweat and Big Red too. Hugs, JB

My dear friends, I am so glad that you enjoyed the piece I created. How wonderful to read all of your beautiful comments relating your own love for Secretariat. When you think about how he has continued to remain a part of our lives through the years, it becomes clear just how special his is. And then to have Zenyatta touch our hearts in much the same way, well that is a fantastic blessing. They will both be a remarkable part of my life forever more and that brings me a great deal of joy!
Love and hugs to all, Dawn
I know that the new addition of Adobe does not play the music correctly, it is the theme from Titanic. I will post the piece again for the Preakness and Belmont, so maybe things will work by then.

We don’t know all the drama that has happened recently but we do know our beautiful Zenny and her team are all about love and inclusion. Zenny never lost her patience when hundreds of people wanted to touch her. And the Mosses continue to allow this site to be a place where we can come and talk about “all things horse” and still remein connected to the marvelous Queen who drew us here in the first place. All of us have up and down days and some when we may let a word of two slip that we later regret.

To Kathy R–Welcome back, mate! You were missed. We had no idea you had felt that GirlSaratoga’s remark about “sour grapes” had been a reference to you, or we would have said something to clear this up sooner. The “sour” one is the one and only “Sign of the times,” who never ceases to denigrate our dear Keta and her contributions. When Sign is blocked under one name, she comes back as a different “sour grape.” For a while she was LRG, then ST, and now she posts as RobbieC, but it’s all “Sign of the times,” who used to be a sane, valued contributor here, but has gone off the rails. I dread to think what her response to this post will be, but I had to let you, Kathy R, and you, GirlSaratoga, and of course you, Keta, know that you are all cherished here, and I dearly hope you will all stay and ride out this storm until peace reigns again in the Queen’s realm. High hoof to you and to our Queen! Long live Zenyatta and her loyal fans!
Love in Dumplinghood,
Trina
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Trina–if that’s the case, she will have to take me on too, because you spoke the same truth that I almost said myself last night. She is the only person here who deliberately stirs up trouble. Very anti-spirit of Zenyatta.
Terry Crow
We used to have a valuable contributor on this site who posted under the handle ensign. Then, somebody started to post under the name notafanofensign. Ensign was driven from the site and it was our loss. I hope none of the people who are considering leaving do so.
Terry Crow
When the above post is “approved” by the powers that be, I wish someone would tell me why it was considered necessary to moderate it. I am at a lost as to why certain comments are “cleared” and others are not. If there is anything remotely uncourteous about the above post, I wish someone would let me know. I did not nor do I ever post any links.
carol in arkansas
this happens to us all occasionally…can not find any rhyme or reason to it…some think that if too many “reply’s” are posted ….after its gets to a certain length it gets the next poster “moderated”…then some think its got to do with including a certain type of link…I am unsure
Pati- The Orb Wagon for TC
Sometimes they just pick random comments to moderate. Everyone will have a comment moderated every so often, but unless it’s bad, it will be posted not long after it is chosen for moderation.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Terry, my post from last night appears right above, too, as “awaiting moderation”. I think they were in response to a post from sign, that has now been removed, so I’m guessing that’s why our comments are not in context now.
Trina Nagele in So Cal--PUR
You’re right, Vicki, the offensive May 7, 6:36 pm post from “Robbie” to Keta has blessedly been removed. (Thank you, Team Z!) The replies thereto have also disappeared since the context is no longer there. Personally I hope Robbie’s 6:32 pm post will be removed too.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I don’t know the answer, TC. I only had it happen to me once, and it was a very short comment to someone with no link. Nothing about it was odd in any way. Maybe it is as some think, just random. I know this site is a treasure to us all.
maryp ny
Yes, yes!! Lord please let peace reign here in Zenyatta nation.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Trina,
I SO agree with your observations regarding a certain former poster who used to be a sane contributor. I, too, have concluded that this poster has become unglued or “off the rails”. Perhaps the way to deal with these ugly, unkind posts is no response at all. For those who are being bullied by this poster, please consider the source is a warped individual who is attempting to create discord. We are stronger than this sad person.
We do appreciate Keta, Max, Kathy R., GirlSaratoga AND our long lost Ensign. Please stay with us on this lovely Z-ride. Hugs

Dear Dawn,
Thank you for the wonderful tribute to Secretariat! I never really followed horse racing before Secretariat came along. He certainly hooked me. For 40 years I have faithfully watched the KY Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, just hoping for that unspeakable thrill of witnessing another Triple Crown winner. My wedding day was May 19th, 1973, the day Secretariat won the Preakness. So I always felt a real connection to him.

My 2 cents worth! Why are personal feelings, events & situations written on this site, anyway? Shoudn’t we be focusing on Zenyatta, her foals & connections & all things horse on this site? I never understood why people all over the world should be airing personal information & problems. If we didn’t, there would be no need for people to “quit” this site in a huff. Seems conter-productive to me. I love to read the blogs for what you horse people have been teaching me, via links, info., etc. & I just love it. The personal stuff, not so much.
Terry Crow
If it never gets “cleared,” my comment was about ensign who used to post in Zen’s diary. @Vicki-About time for relatives of rednecks jokes?
Trina Nagele in So Cal--PUR
Ensign was very informative and is missed.
Terry Crow
I guess I am kind of getting this in via the back door, but the crux of my comment was that ensign was chased off the diary by some anonymous person who called him or herself notafanofensign. As Trina said, ensign was a valued poster on the old diary and we lost him or her because of this very thing we are dealing with now.
Terry Crow
Trina knows the story about ensign and notafanofensign and should be able to tell it without being moderated, as I have now been twice. It is amazing to me that whoever moderates this blog lets comments by “robbie” go by and tries to moderate mine.
Trina Nagele in So Cal--PUR
Terry, I think you told the story of Ensign perfectly.
As to the “awaiting moderation,” I think something just automatically triggered that. I don’t think the moderator is intentionally interfering with your posts. The first time I tried to post my comment about sign, I spelled her old moniker out in full without any spacing, just the way she used to do it, and that comment got “awaiting moderation,” but it went right through when I used the spacing to differentiate it from the old form, which is now, I believe, blocked. Perhaps some such technicality is the reason you got the “awaiting moderation.”
Ensign, if you are out there, you are missed.
Max
Agree with Trina and Terry. Ensign provided a lot of interesting information about horses. He or she seemed to have a very detailed knowledge of horses, and was willing to share it. Can learn a great deal about horses from people like Ensign, Zenyen, Laura J and many others who visit the site. I admire these people.

Sue, something similar happened to me as well, when I was training to be a Jock. I was badly injured the week before I was scheduled to go for my apprentice license. I was devastated to say the least. Although, I healed physically and proved the Doctor’s wrong, I didn’t heal mentally. Although, I continued to ride another 5 yrs, I couldn’t fight the demon: “ptsd.” I still have to take meds to this day due to panic attacks.
I hope you have a great day!
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Sue Colvin,
God Bless you, you’re one tough cookie. I love your inspirational messages and your cute sense of humor, which has probably kept you going on many a bad day. It’s good that you can come here for the inspiration that Zenny generates and the downrite silliness we share on some days. Please come often. hugs Sue (good name isn’t it)

I am very anxious to view Dawn’s tribute to Secretariat. Unfortunately, at work we are blocked but, on the weekend I will definitely check it out. He will always be the greatest race horse of all time. What he had accomplished is simply amazing and I don’t believe those records will ever be broken. I never get tired of the movie and still get the same goosebumps everytime, starting at the top of my head to my toes. When I was 13 Northern Dancer had the first two races won and that started my unending love of horses. However, Secretariat is King to me and Zenyatta is our Queen. I am hopelessly in love with horses. May everyone have a Blessed day.

I am singing of the blog for today as I am liable to try to post something that really would need moderation.

Terry, I am getting moderated right and left, today!
Terry Crow
That’s because the moderator wants to read some relatives of rednecks jokes. Vicki-Your jokes were always funnier than mine since they were based on real incidents.

Me too!

I think the page is on hyper-moderation mode since the offensive posts popped up. It might be like this for a while, but once everything calms down, it’ll go back to normal I’m sure. We should remain positive; we still have each other to talk to and share all the news and goings-on with, we still have a site to come to, so a little moderation for the time being seems like a fair price to pay. I hope that once it calms down again, people will gradually make the pilgrimage back.

Pati-Very astute comment. I guess I would prefer overzealousness at this particular time.

Happy birthday to the sweet music man. That tune was written to describe Waylon Jennings, but also applies to Mister Moss.

I’m really getting eager to see new photos of Z13! Is he still a chestnut, or is he changing color? See? That is something ELSE I didn’t know, that horses change color, like puppies. I knew that grey horses could get lighter, but I had no clue that a chestnut could change, too.

New California Claiming Rule this month:

Lot of controversy about this one. It does take some of the chance out of a claim.
