Ziconic

Ziconic Begins His New Career

Ziconic with Linda Moss and George Bedar

Dear Fans,

I am delighted to share with you that Ziconic is moving on to his next career as an Off-The-Track-Thoroughbred! I couldn’t be happier that he now has a new home and is being welcomed into the loving arms of Linda Moss (Cousins of the Heart) and her husband, George Bedar.

Filled with enthusiasm, Linda remarks, “George and I are so incredibly honored and over the moon to have the opportunity to provide for Ziconic and to take the journey with him in the coming chapters of his life as an OTTB. This is the stuff dreams are made of, and having him join our family is beyond words.”

Ziconic will also be joining his Mom’s stablemate Milyone (also a Moss horse trained by John Shirreffs) at Templeton Farms, a Sporthorse Farm in California. We have known Linda and George since they welcomed Milyone, who has now been under their very special care for seven years.

It is our belief that horses let you know what they like to do. As Ziconic settles into his new home and new program, it will become clear what he is destined for. We are confident that Linda and George will be there to ensure that he can enjoy life and thrive.

We look forward to Ziconic becoming an Ambassador for Off-The-Track-Thoroughbreds in California and beyond, just as Cozmic One has become an OTTB Ambassador based in Kentucky.

Linda & George recently shared two things that they have already noticed about Ziconic: He is very proud of himself, and he ALWAYS knows where the camera is!

We look forward to continuing to update you on Ziconic’s transition, his new Team members, and his new happy life.

Hugs, Ann Holbrook Moss

My feeling is that a national organization is needed, instead of 38 different state racing boards, or however many there are.

Also, all tracks should be looked at. We have a higher injury rate than elsewhere.

I agree, horses first. I also read about Steve Asmussen short changing his workers. They should come first at well.

Maybe most of you know this but Godolphin has great clips on youtube on all parts of their business. Great clips on their retirees, too. They appear to do right by their horses.

A couple clips show their care, preparation and training of the nurse mare foals. They are well cared for and provided for.

It is always so wonderful to see foals who have lost their mothers happily bonding to a new mom but we all worry about the rightful offspring of these mares. It is good to see how they are respected along with the foals of greater monetary worth.

You make good points in your comments. Horses and those that give them safe care and handling should come first I. The Industry.

Kathleen, often wonder what happens to the nurse mares own foals. Praying all of them are cared for and safe. Love and Hugs, JB

    Dear Sheena,
Do you by any chance know if Masar came back OK from his race Saturday
I didn’t realize till today he was back Sat.
Had been waiting for his return, But he had a real troubled trip. Almost went down at the start then he and Defoe bumped each other.
Just love him. So hope he is OK.

      Dear Sheena,

Thanks for posting this. Beautiful photos of Beholder and Gary Stevens! Love all three of these pictures, but that first one is something quite special — what a shot. Beholder is interested in that carrot in Gary’s hand, but she definitely remembers him and is enjoying the visit. They were a great team!

RIP Little King Robin. Sometimes I do wonder about breeding. Just be glad there is not embryo transfer and ai, as Arabian breeders do.

At 3pm on Monday June 29th 2015 our beloved Kauto Star died.Such a sad end for a champion racehorse due to injuries in a paddock accident the previous Wednesday. So many questions and no answers. We will never know what happened that fateful day but this is how I prefer to remember Kauto with Paul,Clifford and team at Ditcheat. This is where he belonged.Rest easy my old friend. We treasure your memory foreverX

When he shall die take him and cut him into little stars and he shall make the face of Heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun~~Shakespeare

I’d say ziconic is just like his mama when it comes to his showing off for the camera’s. Zenyatta always had her eye’s on the camera when it was around. She would paw the ground and prance around to get attention. Love her and all of her beautiful off spring.

One question I have been dying to ask… have the Zenyatta team ever thought about breeding her to the latest Triple Crown winner Justify? I have thought about it so much that these two horses are crazy athletic, fast, beautiful, and the king and queen of racing, so I mean the possibility of a great amazing foal is undless. I would just love to see what would come out of such great legendary horses. And congrats on Ziconic finding a good home for ottb’s!
