Ziconic

Ziconic Begins His New Career

Ziconic with Linda Moss and George Bedar

Dear Fans,

I am delighted to share with you that Ziconic is moving on to his next career as an Off-The-Track-Thoroughbred! I couldn’t be happier that he now has a new home and is being welcomed into the loving arms of Linda Moss (Cousins of the Heart) and her husband, George Bedar.

Filled with enthusiasm, Linda remarks, “George and I are so incredibly honored and over the moon to have the opportunity to provide for Ziconic and to take the journey with him in the coming chapters of his life as an OTTB. This is the stuff dreams are made of, and having him join our family is beyond words.”

Ziconic will also be joining his Mom’s stablemate Milyone (also a Moss horse trained by John Shirreffs) at Templeton Farms, a Sporthorse Farm in California. We have known Linda and George since they welcomed Milyone, who has now been under their very special care for seven years.

It is our belief that horses let you know what they like to do. As Ziconic settles into his new home and new program, it will become clear what he is destined for. We are confident that Linda and George will be there to ensure that he can enjoy life and thrive.

We look forward to Ziconic becoming an Ambassador for Off-The-Track-Thoroughbreds in California and beyond, just as Cozmic One has become an OTTB Ambassador based in Kentucky.

Linda & George recently shared two things that they have already noticed about Ziconic: He is very proud of himself, and he ALWAYS knows where the camera is!

We look forward to continuing to update you on Ziconic’s transition, his new Team members, and his new happy life.

Hugs, Ann Holbrook Moss

I have followed this sweet horse from birth to where the heck did he go. My self I think he will do great with his new owners and stable. My best horse was a chestnut with blaze and 4 white socks he was a champion and I loved him. He was a Arabian but please don’t hold that against him. HA HA. I will continue to follow Ziconic and his brother Cosmic One. I truly hope Zenyatta’s filly smokes them at the track.

There wasn’t enough of a book for him to make it worth sending him.

If the book had been there, he’d have shuttled. Saying “getting a rest” is Taylor Made pouring sugar on an uncomfortable truth.

        Dear z13rules:

You’re absolutely right. Getting a rest were my words. I think they said taking a break in the article. Also stated Something to the effect that Chile had some financial problems with breeding recently. You’ve summed it up nicely.

Did you see how many mares CC covered in 2018, in Ky and Chile and just here in 2019. He needs a rest. Love and Hugs, JB

      Judy,
Thanks for this good news about Chrome. I am not a big fan of shuttling any horse. Glad he is staying home in Kentucky and getting a rest for whatever reason. He is such a beauty and has such a wonderful personality.

I also noticed that he was really over weight before he went to Chile, but still came back on the skinny side. I think all that breeding was taking a tole, and with the change of management, it wasn’t worth taking any changes. He is also very smart and free running, and hated the confines of quarantine. I remember the last video; when he saw the quarantine containers, he started shaking all over and didn’t want to go in. He was so happy to be home! He went from racing to not only breeding, but shuttling twice too. He was overdue for a rest! Because he does things so easy, and is so willing, sometimes people forget the iron horse is flesh and blood with a great mind and heart, but he is not a machine. I’m so against shuttling, and am very glad he isn’t shuttling this year! Love Chrome! So happy for Ziconic, was my favorite since birth!!

My Girl is back where she belongs…In the winners enclosure. The reception she got when she returned after Frankie had paraded her in front of the crowd was amazing.Yes she got tired towards the end only 85% fit and nearly nine months off a racecourse but boy does this horse know she’s a star. The way she she moves and says look at me.I have to calm down now!
