Ziconic

Ziconic Begins His New Career

Ziconic with Linda Moss and George Bedar

Dear Fans,

I am delighted to share with you that Ziconic is moving on to his next career as an Off-The-Track-Thoroughbred! I couldn’t be happier that he now has a new home and is being welcomed into the loving arms of Linda Moss (Cousins of the Heart) and her husband, George Bedar.

Filled with enthusiasm, Linda remarks, “George and I are so incredibly honored and over the moon to have the opportunity to provide for Ziconic and to take the journey with him in the coming chapters of his life as an OTTB. This is the stuff dreams are made of, and having him join our family is beyond words.”

Ziconic will also be joining his Mom’s stablemate Milyone (also a Moss horse trained by John Shirreffs) at Templeton Farms, a Sporthorse Farm in California. We have known Linda and George since they welcomed Milyone, who has now been under their very special care for seven years.

It is our belief that horses let you know what they like to do. As Ziconic settles into his new home and new program, it will become clear what he is destined for. We are confident that Linda and George will be there to ensure that he can enjoy life and thrive.

We look forward to Ziconic becoming an Ambassador for Off-The-Track-Thoroughbreds in California and beyond, just as Cozmic One has become an OTTB Ambassador based in Kentucky.

Linda & George recently shared two things that they have already noticed about Ziconic: He is very proud of himself, and he ALWAYS knows where the camera is!

We look forward to continuing to update you on Ziconic’s transition, his new Team members, and his new happy life.

Hugs, Ann Holbrook Moss

Sad to see Masar finish last in the Princess of Wales. No real decision about his future but maybe 10 furlongs.

Such sad news about Dreaming Eyes the Frankel/Danedream filly who died while exercising she crashed into the rails most likely an aortic tear. Her trainer Peter Shiergen is devastated at the loss.Sympathy to Dreamy’s connections

Congratulations to Mike Smith for winning the ESPY Awards best jockey! He beat the Ortiz brothers this year, which is no small feat.

Good luck to Mike on his Saratoga mounts this meet. Opening day was today, a week earlier this year. This adds an extra weekend to the schedule, but no racing on Mondays or Tuesdays for the same # of racing days (40). I hope to get to the track to see him again this year.

Gary Stevens is also on the Fox Sports team broadcasting from Saratoga this year. I don’t think that he will be there every day, but will be there for the major stakes on Saturdays. I hope that I get to finally meet Gary this year.

Prayers for a safe racing meet at Saratoga for all horses and their teams.

I met Gary Stevens before the Breeder’s Cup. I asked him if he wanted the ‘Big Z’ to win, and he put his hand over his heart and said, ‘I hope so! I love her so much!’ She came from behind, as usual, and won, beating Kentucky Derby winners.

I really pray that Sea of Class will recover fully. I lost my 27-year-old OTTB mare this year to colic. I got her when she was 8, so for 19 years i went out to the barn several times a day and she was always there, and then she wasn’t.

She was a very young 27 too. Arthritic, yes (so am i), but she ran and bucked every morning when I turned her out. Even the morning of the afternoon that she started to colic, she ran off in good spirits. Such a horrible condition.

          Dear Kathleen,

So sorry about your sweet mare. At least she was feeling good and was happily loved until the nasty colic came. I know there is an awful void now, but I pray that your memories will help comfort you. She will be waiting for your arrival someday. I am sorry for your broken heart though.

Sending love and hugs to you.
