Dr. Holder Talks Z
Happy Thursday! Zenyatta and her Tapit colt have new paddock mates at Lane’s End. Alys snapped the first photo of the group, and we’ll post some more once the little ones get to know each other. We have an video interview to share today. Dr. Holder, who was present at the April 1st foaling, met up with us at Lane’s End the following day to talk about Zenyatta. April Visit to Lane’s End
Happy Friday! Spring is in full swing at Lane’s End! We spent the earlier part of the week in Kentucky visiting Zenyatta and her two boys. 13Z is quite a frisky and independent colt. He’s equally interested in greeting visitors and cruising around the paddock with his mom. You’ll see them running together in the video at the end of this post. Coz, who is now a very handsome yearling, was always waiting at the fence to greet us. There are so many more photos from this visit, and we’ll be putting up brand new photo galleries next week. Naming a horse is not the easiest thing. Not only does it need to be brilliant but it also needs to be available. So… Being born on International Women’s Day and Purim a day of celebration, under a full moon and with a star on your forehead Not to mention having Zenyatta be Your mom and be the First born…. Well we searched the stars and with the desire to have Zennie represented too….. We’ve come up with the name that we hope encompasses all: COZMIC ONE May the heavens bless him and he has all the chances to be the bright star he is :) COZ for short? And…..Thank! You! EVERYONE for All Your Suggestions Hopes and Dreams!
April 14 Update
Happy Sunday! We can’t believe 13Z was born almost two weeks ago. We hear from the great people at Lane’s End that he and his mom are happy and healthy. Alys sent us a few close-ups of the little one out in the paddock this week, and we wanted to share those along with some more photos from our last trip. We’ll be heading back to the farm in a week to visit Zenyatta and both of her colts (and to take lots of photos!). And don’t forget 12Z! Here’s a video we shot on a gray morning during our last trip. Photos From The Foaling
We know you’ve all been waiting for more photos! Team Z and Lane’s End are proud to share these images from the birth of Zenyatta’s second colt. Based on the response we’ve received, it seems that the world is as excited as we are. We had a spectacular day on the farm, and we are saying our goodbyes for now. Mom and her little one are now relaxing, bonding, and spending some quiet time alone. There are still more photos from this trip to come. Zenyatta’s Second Foal Born April 1
Zenyatta has always been one for special occasions. In true form, she foaled just before midnight on her 9th birthday, after a day of celebration. She delivered a healthy colt by Tapit at 11:47 pm EST on Monday April 1. Estimated at 145 lbs, he is a leggy chestnut with a white blaze similar to Zenyatta’s. Eager to start his new life, he was standing on his own by 12:18 am and nursing within an hour. Both are doing so very well, and it’s a joy to see how much Zenyatta loves being a mom. Thank you to all of the fans who have been following The Queen and sending good wishes and blessings. It worked! We can’t wait to spend the day with little 13Z tomorrow, and there will be many more pictures to come! -Team Z
