Hello Everyone,
One of the things I cherish is walking in the paddock and enjoying the beautiful surroundings nature offers us. It is a time to be reflective and totally appreciate my loving friends, great health, good fortune and various accomplishments. I am truly blessed and so fortunate!
On my walks, I often ponder my personal life’s lessons: those I have experienced… and concepts others have taught me. Having just celebrated my 20th birthday, my dear friend, Dottie, shared this philosophy with me and I’d like to share it with you. Her Mother, Frances, always mentored her children to be positive and… never let a number define you.
Whether it be your age or your weight …do not let personal notions like this categorize you! Your actions, how your feel about yourself, your appreciation for life and the kindness you share with others determines who you are. You define you… not a number.
Wishing you a beautiful day!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

I, too, loved Barbaro and felt so bad about how he suffered toward the end. He was a magnificent horse.

ZELLDA dropped a Justify colt on April 19! Ann Holbrook Moss is the sole breeder of record for him; the 2023 Twirling Candy colt was bred by both Ann and the Jerome S. Moss Trust.

Kentucky Derby – Interesting Facts:
Rubber match for #1 Dornoch and #2 Sierra Leone; Dornoch is the only one to have ever beaten Sierra Leone, in the G2 Remsen last year. Sierra Leone won their last outing, the G1 Blue Grass, with Dornoch finishing fourth (notes indicate traffic trouble).
–
Horses on win-lose-win-lose cycles:
#4 Catching Freedom (won LA Derby after finishing third in G2 Risen Star); #17 Fierceness (won FL Derby after finishing third in G3 Holy Bull).
–
The only unbeaten horses in the race are the Japanese runners – #10 T O Password, who used the Japan Road to earn his spot, and #11 Forever Young, who won the G2 UAE Derby to earn his spot. T O Password has two lifetime outings; Forever Young has five.
–
Mage edge: While full brother Dornoch starts from post one, if you want to use the angle that got Mage to the winner’s circle, look to #5 Catalytic; he was second to Champion 2yo Fierceness in the Florida Derby and is from the first crop of Catalina Cruiser, plus this is his fourth start. Mage was second to Forte last year in the same race and is from the first crop of Good Magic, and the Derby was his fourth start.
–
The horse with the most starts is AE #22 Mugatu, who is 1-for-12 lifetime. One more scratch before Friday morning would put him in the race. In the field is #6 Just Steel, who is 2-for-11. (#9 Encino was a scratch due to a soft tissue injury, and #21 Epic Ride, who has won/placed in all five outings and is a legit horse to look at, drew in)
–
Most wins go to #11 Forever Young and #14 Endlessly; the former is unbeaten in five outings, while the latter is 5-for-6, with his eighth-place finish in the BC Juvenile Turf his only loss. This is Endlessly’s dirt debut, but the Jeff Ruby Steaks, his last win, has produced Derby winners.
–
Won their last starts:
#2 Sierra Leone (G1 Blue Grass)
#4 Catching Freedom (G2 Louisiana Derby)
#10 T O Password (Fukuryu Stakes in Japan)
#11 Forever Young (G2 UAE Derby)
#14 Endlessly (G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks)
#15 Domestic Product (G3 Tampa Bay Derby)
#17 Fierceness (G1 Florida Derby)
#18 Stronghold (G1 Santa Anita Derby)
#19 Resilience (G2 Wood Memorial)
–
Finished second (Mage angle):
#5 Catalytic (G1 Florida Derby)
#6 Just Steel (G1 Arkansas Derby; winner Muth banned from Derby)
#7 Honor Marie (G2 Louisiana Derby)
#8 Just a Touch (G1 Blue Grass)
#13 West Saratoga (G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks)
#20 Society Man (G2 Wood Memorial)
