Greetings everyone. Here’s hoping all your picks did well yesterday and came home safely. Same goes for today. I don’t really bet, I simply write down my my picks and perhaps 1 or 2 I’m pretty sure won’t win, but I have an interest in and want to know where they did end up. I missed Hovey yesterday so am off to check in on him. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A SPARKLING DAY.

Happy BCC Day, everyone! Those juveniles yesterday were sure a treat! All of my longshot picks came in 2nd or 3rd (always a bridesmaid!). So happy that Christophe Clement finally got a BC win with Pizza Bianca — he seems to be a genuinely good guy who adores his turf fillies! Looking forward to today’s races. BE SAFE, EVERYONE!

Just in case some of you did not hear it on the BC coverage yesterday, the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act (HISA) will go into effect next July 1st. As we all know, it can’t come soon enough. Beginning next month, HISA will take comments and suggestions from the general public about what we think their priorities should be ( go to https://www.hisaus.org ). And on a related topic, there’s an interesting article in yesterday’s New York Times by Joe Drape about how Bob Baffert was allowed to race in this year’s BC. This is a good counterpoint to the comments from Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey during yesterday’s broadcast. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/04/sports/horse-racing/bob-baffert-breeders-cup.html

Well, Ann, after you posted about her on the Blog the other day, I hope she was your pick in our virtual handicapping contest.
Orfevre’s girl, Marche Lorraine, won the Distaff and paid $101.

CONGRATS to her, Daddy and connections.

Also, congrats to Knicks Go and Joel R. Brilliant BBC win.

Hope all came back well. Love and Hugs, JB

        Dear Ann:

If ever there was a logical choice, it was Letruska. But as we know, so much depends on racing luck or lack thereof. I went with my Bernie’s granddaughter, Clairiere. She did well to finish 4th. A half length was the most distance between the top four finishers. Really exciting race.

Hope all the horses came back well. Love and Hugs, JB

Shout-outs of congrats to beautiful CeCe on winning the BC Filly&Mare Sprint (Race 4) with Victor Espinoza onboard, and to Aloha West with Jose Ortiz on the BC Sprint (Race 8) — RunHappy’s boy, Following Sea and Johnny V. came in 3rd. Well done!!

It certainly was a wonderful, exciting BC weekend.

KG was brilliant. He just seems to get better and better. So true, without Paynter we wouldn’t have him.

His Mama, Kosmo’s Buddy (she’s got Danzig, Alydar and Big Red in her line) was a good racer too: 37 starts, 5 wins; 8 places; 8 shows. She’s a Gray also.

      Dear Judy,
Yes indeed KG’s coloring came from Mama! That’s a very fine pedigree she has, too.
No matter how badly Mr. Zayat did with his finances and gambling, he always cared about his horses, I think. He saved Paynter when most others would have euthanized him, and he adored American Pharoah. Thank you, Mr. Zayat.
Hope you have a good week! ❤️

      Thanks bunches Sandy!
I would have liked to see that grooming session and the fancy van/solarium that warmed our friend Hovis!
Hope Hovis has a wonderful time hobnobbing at Your Horse is Alive. Can’t wait for the next Hovis report.
      Hugs and Love ?

    Dear Sandy:

Thanks for our Friday Hovis update. Can’t wait to hear about his adventures at Your Horse is Alive.

Was a wonderful, exciting BC this year and as you said, with some surprises. Now, we have the Derby prep races to look forward to. Love and Hugs, JB

Nice to hear from you — it has been awhile. Hope those nasty migraines will leave you alone!
All is well here with my Bailey and Fenn. They keep me entertained, bless them. Dogs are so wonderful, and horses too, of course!

    Dear Marshall and Z Fans:

We had an interesting day. High winds, tornado warning and lost power for about five hours.

Lola and I visited with neighbors and then took a nap. Power was back at 9:30 this evening. No worse for the wear. Love and Hugs, JB

Sorry you lost power but happy to know you and LM are alright.
      Scary for sure. Stay safe.
Looks like snow in some parts, yikes.
Hope everyone has a good week ahead.

      Dear Judy,
Oh my! Glad you and Lola are okay and that you have power restored. I heard Richie Migliore say this afternoon that there had been a tornado in their area (in New York, the state not the city). It did some damage nearby yesterday, but his place was unharmed. Crazy weather!

The weather has been very nice here in this part of NC. We finally got our first frost last night — it was a light one, but it was past due.

By the way, the Winter Memories stakes was run today. If I had written the script for this, Frost White would have won! Love her name!

      Hugs and Love ❤️

        Oops, name correction.
That’s White Frost (apologies, girl) who is a Candy Ride filly out of Miss Frost by Curlin. She came in second with Junior Alvarado aboard and trained by Bill Mott. Plum Ali won in the drive to the wire. Congrats!

          Dear Marshall:

Yes, weather certainly has been strange in many parts.
Lovely name White Frost. Love Winter Memories, beautiful Gray.

          Will watch the replay.

          Love and Hugs, JB

Glad you and LM are OK Judy. Tornado warnings and lost power are no fun at all. We’ve had our first snow (which had mostly melted overnight, but now it’s back at it again). What a mess on top of all of the leaves still laying about and on the trees! UGH!
