Gotta' Love This Hat! Photo by John Shirreffs

Good Morning,

The other day at Barn 55, Gilbert was there ready to work. He
does horse dental work for some of my pals at the barn.

Well, he truly came prepared with his ZENYATTA CAP. Around the brim,
he has all of the different jockey figures and pins he has collected in relation
to certain races, horses and people in the industry. It is really a very unique
cap!

I know that the DEL MAR HAT CONTEST was last Wednesday….but in my
opinion, GILBERT’S cap is a real winner!

Happy ‘Hump Day’! Dottie tells me this is a reference used by people when
working a normal business week…Monday through Friday. Wednesday is the
mid-point…thus, you only have 2 days until the weekend.

This is TOO CUTE! In our industry, Wednesday often begins the racing week!
Interesting, how differences occupations can have such varying schedules. I
think that is what makes life so much FUN!

    THIS HAT IS SO INTERESTING. I BET FOLKS STUDY IT. I HAVE SEVERAL PINS ON IT BUT NOTHING AS NICE AS GILBERTS. HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD DAY. WE HAVE A DROP IN THE HEAT HERE AND A GOOD BREEZE.     Hi Zenny & Dottie. Well, big girl, “Hump Day” (love it!) kicked off with Frankel’s STUPENDOUS win against the great Canford Cliffs in the Sussex Stakes. No question that Bobby is looking after the beautiful Frankel who, like my love, Nijinsky, wears a white heart on his brow. Bobby is Frankel’s angel, Zenny, just like the angel John put on your bridle each time you raced to bring you home safe and sound. I’m sure Dottie must be thinking of Bobby today and the eloquence of a great horse running to his 8th straight victory in Bobby’s memory. There’s a better tape of Frankel’s race up on YouTube now & this one has some super commentary — Frankel is said to be a greater “miler” than the brilliant & well-loved Brigadier Gerard. High praise indeed!

    Love the hat on Gilbert…. love you and Dottie….. yes, it is hump day…I am semi-retired so this day does not mean what it did years ago. But I remember thinking many times…thank goodness it is Wed. Hugs to you Z….. enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

    Gilbert’s hat is “One of a Kind” just like you Z!!! If he add’s more pins that hat will have to be weighted! It’s a winner in my book.

    I can’t believe this. I spent a lot of time last evening on trying to get a Shirreff’s cap. Besides being a huge Zenyatta fan, I think the world of her John, Dottie and the Zenyatta team. I think I read that John was at the track when Mr. Commons ran with his training color cap and Zenyatta on the back of the cap. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Commons working out for the Preakness and that weekend met John and Dottie. Any idea how I can get a cap with John’s colors on it? Thank you.

    Dear Z– what a hat! Love it!
    Just watched the Frankel video–what a powerhouse. That brings up a question. When horses come from the UK to race here, do they have to be re-trained to go the other way around the track?
    Kathryn Cogswell–I know what you mean. If I send something to our daughter 10 blocks awa here in Waco, it has tyo go to Austin and back first!! I was in rehab yesterday too (shoulder).
    @Barbara Grimaldi– I love your “I’m aspiring to it”.
    @Lil in KY-will surely pray for your dear friend Catherine. Please update as you can. Also will pray for your surgery.
