My dear, dear friends,
As many of you may know, MY JOHN and Dottie go to Santa Anita each evening to check on the horses at that barn and walk SOPHIE. It is a relaxing ‘family time’ for them. Last night, they were commenting to each other how very special ALL OF YOU are. John was sharing several emails he’d received during the day with Dottie. The tone in all of them was so warm and tender!
The outpouring of love, sympathy, and kindness you have expressed for Cloud Man and My Team is deeply appreciated! THANK YOU!
One exceptional and charming quality I absolutely ADORE about this web-site is the way everyone rallies around to support each other.
You are constantly doing this when you respond to each other in the DIARY…and you have faithfully done this for ME during my entire career. Additionally, you have expressed the same support and love for MY TEAM.
Life, as we all know, can often present many different challenges. The manner in which all of you share thoughts, kindness, support, and encouragement seems to help make some of these situations and handling them simply feel so much ‘better’.
Thinking of you…and sending each of you a very special HIGH HOOF…for being such a DEAR FRIEND…not just to ME and MY TEAM…but to EACH OTHER!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

I’m so sorry to hear about Cloud Man. I always get upset when a horse breaks down. I’m so glad that you were always safe when you ran, Z! I hope you are doing well. I’m so glad you have such loving people to take care of you!
Lisa in TN
Team Z you are the best. I have always thought that great horses are “given” to the “right ” people. Zenyatta you were placed in the path of this group of people, and out of not only did you become one of the greatest TB’s ever, your Team did something no one else ever has. They let us get to know you and them. They have given support to many of us in bad times just by doing that. Team Z you are most deserving. Thanks again for all that you do.

Dear Great One and All Z’isters
ONE OF THE HORSES IN THE NEVADA FEED LOT AWAITING RESCUE IS A PREGNANT MARE. MARLENE JUST TOLD ME SHE WANTS TO NAME THE BABY “CLOUD” IN HONOR OF THE FALLEN CLOUD MAN. IN HER WORDS, “IT IS ONLY RIGHT.” CLOUD MAN CAN TRULY LIVE ON THROUGH THE EYES OF THIS INNOCENT THAT WE WILL SAVE FROM SLAUGHTER WITH OUR DONATIONS. PLEASE GO TO http://www.valleyviewranchequinerescue.webs.com TODAY TO HELP US RESCUE THESE DEAR HORSES FROM BEING SLAUGHTERED FOR THEIR MEAT. WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR DONATION, PLEASE INDICATE IT IS IN MEMORY OF CLOUD MAN. THANK YOU,
JEANIE

So true Z…..it is a blessing to have such a wonderful forum to share with everyone. I look forward to reading these posts every day! We are in this game of life together, and “holding hands” – even electronic ones – makes everything a lot better! We are all sending good thoughts your way!

Dear Zenny: YOUR JOHN, YOUR DOTTIE, and YOUR SOPHIE were not alone on that evening walk last night. We were all there in spirit, surrounding them with all the love and care we could wrap them in. We will ALWAYS be there for them, for Ann and Jerry, Mikey, Barn 55, and of course, for YOU, if you all need a little boost. ALWAYS. That is what FAMILY is about, virtual or real.

Zenny, you and your team continue to inspire us in so many ways…big and small. Each of us try to emulate the kindness, love and support that has been your mantra. A simple thank you to all of YOU seems inadequate but please know it is heartfelt.

Hi, Zen and her team. There have been wonderful tributes on many websites to our horse friends lost recently. All I can say is it’s a good thing I have a office by myself and a new box of tissues. Sometimes I’m just a mess. Anyway, there is so much to be thankful for and there’s on-going life of course. Spring is coming and new babies will appear! Zen and Tasty and Rachel and Careless Jewel are at the top of my list but there’s a whole bunch more. Take care everybody!

Zenny, this site continues to be such a source of joy and comfort. At a time when real heros are nowhere to be found, here you are …as well as your team. {{{ }}} to everyone.

Hi Zenny, I can’t think of a nicer way to end the day, Check on the horses and take the dog for a walk.

I just can’t stop thinking of Cloud Man :(
Also John and The Moss’s. This is the very hardest part of our great sport! But we will overcome with the support of each other! Love to all!

Team Z, I am so sorry for your loss. I read every single diary entry, although I don’t post comments very often. It just goes to show that this happens, even with the best care and training in the world.
I feel that Cloud Man is now kicking up his heels and running his heart out in the big pasture in the sky…
He is not suffering. That is the most important thing.
Take care,
Kristen

How lovely to be able to enjoy your evening walk amongst the horses. It can’t make up for the tragic moments, nothing can, but hopefully it can ease the pain somewhat.

I haven’t stopped thinking of Cloud Man either. My know my TWH’s Fantasy & Mountain Man, as well as, Secretariat, Slew, and so many more, were there at the Rainbow Bridge welcoming Cloud Man, Irrefutable, and Waltzing with Blues. Now they can run free in God’s green pastures. I so look forward to the greeting we will receive when we get to see our beloved ones at the Rainbow Bridge. Praise the Lord for the time we had with God’s work of perfection, although much too brief. We truely are blessed every day.

I agree with Lisa in TN! Zen, by all of your accomplishments, made possible by your wonderful owners, trainer, and all others who were part of your team, you were able to provide me with some consolation during a difficult time last year. I was feeling really let down and betrayed for some reasons which I can’t discuss, and then I read the newspaper and saw that you had won yet another race – I thought to myself that you, Zenny, always came through and never disappointed, that even if other circumstances occurred to disappoint and discourage me, I could depend on you to always come through and be that champion who would not let me down. It was a help to me at that time. Even in defeat at the Classic last year, you showed a huge heart. Thank you for always showing up and running your heart out – you’re an inspiration to me.

How sad for Cloud Man. What a beautiful horse. I sometimes wonder how it feels to be in the shoes of the person who has to decide to euthanize an animal. I’ve never had to. I think it must so, so difficult. John’s such a good man. I’m sure it hurts him a great deal.

High hooves and high fives all around to all of Team Z, Zenyatta’s fans and the Queen herself, Big Mama Z. Love being a part of it!

Team Z and all Zensters, gratitude is the attitude from us all. Horse lovers are one big family! Wishing you peace and comfort.

Dear Z,
Every life has its sad moments. No one seems to escape from them. it’s hardest when they come all at once. I’ve been thinking of Mike and hoping he is able to deal with the pain and sadness of losing Irrefutable and Cloud Man in two days time. We love him and all of you.
I know that Cloud Man is receiving the warmth and love that is coming his way. I hope all of you are and that it can ease the pain.

Dearest Z, you are our rallying point. It’s you and “Team Z’ that have brought some many people together on common grounds. Thank you all.
