Good Morning,
It is the final day of November, 2011. It seems like the last 30 days have been extremely busy and filled with a variety of events. The month started with all of the Breeders’ Cup activities, races, and MY PARTY. (YIPPEE!) It ultimately wound down with an abundance of great racing around the country. Rapid Redux reached #20! Hollywood Park’s Autumn Festival, the competitive 2 year old stakes at Churchill on their closing weekend, and Aqueduct hosting races as the Cigar Mile, Remsen, Gazelle, and Demoiselle all added to the excitement. Many current and future stars performed with such style. Congratulations to all of the victors and their connections!
Additionally, the November HORSE SALES have been very active at Fasig-Tipton, Keeneland, and now Tattersalls in Newmarket. The quality of stock auctioned at these venues has been excellent…and the prices paid for these horses reflected such. People truly love our sport and want to be involved!
In reality, so much action constantly takes place in ‘the horse world’! There is always something new to learn, to study, and to enjoy! I truly believe this is what makes it all so enjoyable and intriguing to people! There is never a dull moment and the pace at which our sport functions definitely keeps you ‘on your toes’.
Santa Anita, ‘The Great Race Place’, as it is often called, opens the day after Christmas. Currently, their staff is extremely busy completing a number of maintenance projects. In the infield, they are installing a brand new high-tech video board. This BIG BOARD will measure 53′ by 29′ offering the best resolution available in technology today. New state-of-the art boards are also being placed in the paddock area to enhance the entire racing experience for the ‘on-track’ fans. In this photo, they are dismantling and removing the ‘old infield board’. All of this is actually a very specific and detailed process…but the workers are making great progress.
When completed…it should be amazing! HMMM! Perhaps they’ll show some videos of ME on it next season! Now that would be TOO CUTE!
Happy November 30th!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

The very best part would be videos of you, Zenny. Stay warm in Kentucky.
Cheryl
Happy day. And happy holidays. Love you.

Hey, what ever happened to the Zenyatta stakes? Wasn’t Santa Anita going to rename the lady secret that? Also, when do you think we will see Blingo again?
that run he made in his debut reminded me so much of you, Zenyatta. He looks very promising. Very excited.

Dearest Zenyatta,
November is gone and Christmas will soon be in the air! How quickly time flies! After Breeder’s Cup I always enjoy the winter races as the two year olds gear up and begin to show us what they might have to offer as three year olds in the coming spring. And speaking of spring, dear Z, I’m sure thoughts of empending motherhood are on your mind. I, and the rest of your zillions of fans, can’t wait to see a little Z by your side. I’m praying it’s dark brown (like you) with a bit of white markings. And I wouldn’t be a bit disappointed if it was a filly, would you? But most of all I’m praying your baby will be big and strong and healthy and you’ll get to share many wonderful days with him/her before it’s time for the training barn.
Enjoy this last day of November and many hugs to you and Tasty!

I just went to the White House website and sent the President a message saying this was the last straw and I would not be voting for him again (yes, again) if he did not rescind this disgusting piece of legislation. I described it as unAmerican. If J Edgar Hoover was alive, I’m sure they would start a file on me today! This is outrageous; two Republicans and a Democrat conspired to make this change behind closed doors to the Agricultural Appropriations Bill. Shame shame on them. Not horse racing states, I would add. GA, MO and WI. Shame on them! This goes against everything we have been trying to do here! I am outraged!
maryann
To everyone concerned about horse slaughter CALL OR EMAIL YOUR CONGRESSMAN. TELL THEM THAT THIS IS UNCONSCIONABLE AND THAT YOU WANT THEM TO BLOCK THIS. TELL THEM THAT YOU VOTE AND YOU ARE CONNECTED TO OTHER PEOPLE WHO VOTE. MENTION THAT ZENYATTAS PAGE HAS ALMOST 100,000 FANS THAT ARE HORSE LOVERS. IF EACH OF US TELLS 5 OTHER PEOPLE AND ASKS THAT THEY TELL 5 OTHER PEOPLE TO WRITE OR EMAIL OR PHONE THEN THEY WILL TRULY SEE THE POWER WE HAVE. LETS GET STARTED NOW!

Zenny- thank you for another tidbit of what goes on behind the scenes! So many people work very hard in “your business.” Seeing videos of YOU on the big screen would be heavenly, Z. November was a busy month, wasn’t it? I hope you and Tasty bundle up tonight- supposed to be cold! Love you, big girl <3
Heidi
Love you Z. How are you doing? BTW, when is your due date?
Have a great weekend. Say hey to Misty and Dottie for me!

dmamaklock and Jeanie: You are 100% correct – shameful action. Remember there is strenght in numbers EVERYONE must take a firm stand on this and express their outrage at once. Write letters, make phone calls, get in touch with your local representatives and put pressure on this crazy adminstration. The more action taken by people especially with an upcoming election the more likly the chances of a reversal of this insanity.

Right on Maryann that is the spirit.

@Jill in NJ and all interested in the horse slaughter issue;
1. google US House of Representatives
2. click on “write your Resprsentative
3. click on your state and zip code
4. click on contact my representative
5. Your congressman’s email will pop up
off you go with a message.
Believe me from past experience, an email or call to the local congressional office will get you a response. I have done it and it makes a difference. It may not change the outcome with just one person, but everyone who emails Congress (REP or SEN) WILL get a response. They want your vote; it is that simple. Tell them what you want and if they don’t do something, they will not get you vote…you will get an answer, unless your rep is not running for re-election…which is VERY rare!!!! They like being in Congress…they want to stay…make them do what you want!
It is possible….good luck and GOD bless

I am going to call my two U.S. Senators and my Rep today. Then I am going to call a couple of state legislators to see if I can interest them in sponsoring legislation to ban the transport of horses in CA for slaughter in-state or out-of-state. Besides being the moral thing to do, fines could add up and help out with the state budget! I am so p-ed off right now I can just eat nails.
DON’T LET THEM WIN! LET’S DO SOMETHING TO EXPOSE THIS CLUSTER – YOU-KNOW-WHAT AND LET’S ALSO SAVE THOSE POOR HORSES IN NEVADA THAT ARE EVEN FURTHER DISRESPECTED BY THIS DISGUSTING ACTION. REMEMBER:
http://www.valleyviewranchequinerescue.webs.com. TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR THEM…J

@Elizabeth: Thanks for the link- I voted for our girl!
@Cynthia H: I agree- I think SoCal is blessed to have the Shirreffs and Mosses settled there.
@JAG: The John Henry Arlington sounds like a no-brainer! Also, who is Winston? I know I should know, but I can’t remember :P
Definitely should be a Zenyatta Stakes race in CA!
@Kari B: The Vols’ football team was so young this year- I think next year will be great, don’t you?
@Terry Crow: Missing you :(
@Kimberly Potter: How is your newest grandbaby doing?
@Dawn Conrad: Hi, friend!
@Shari Volz: Ditto!
Warm wishes to all<3

Dear Dottie,
You and John, Ann and Jerry are in my thoughts and prayers <3

Kendra
@Jeanie–Thank you for the update. I am praying that the mare that is pregnant with Little Cloud is saved from the slaughterhouse. How much does Marlene need now?
maryp (New York)
Good day Queen Z. It’s the end of November and that means a little over three months til we have a new little princess or prince! Time is just marching on. Have fun with your friend Tasty and all your friend at Lane’s End. Love you big momma.
Kathy B. (SoCal, FL)
So glad SA is replacing it’s big board….lately there has been more and more “pixels” missing. Also it means I won’t have to hear my friend Lauren complain about it anymore! Thank you for the update … All the best to you Z as we head into December and Santa season!
Jill in Jersey
eastcoastkid – Thanks so much! I will do this IMMEDIATELY. Right now, this is all I can think about. We need strength in numbers.

Alas, no horse in the KHP webcam. Wish Cigar would come outside to play. Now there’s an idea. How ’bout a live webcam of The Queen…
Julie DuVall / Ontario, California
I am excited about the new video screens at Santa Anita … the old ones have been looking a bit tired! Opening Day will be even better than usual, especially if they happen to play some video of YOU on the screens!
Now, if they would just invest some money in upgrading the barns …
Sally B. (Wi)
I would love to be part of your world!! It sure would keep my mind very active too, and my toes! (In your case Z, your hoofs!) I love all horses, but God gave you thoroughbreds the gift of desire to run and the magnificient body to perform. I must say, you thoroughbreds are my favorite. Lovely Z, you will always be number one in my heart! To see you on that huge board would be awesomely too cute. I hope they do!!!
love with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z

@Susan in TN~ Evyn Bell is thriving. She is growing like a weed and is so precious. I (Grammy) have babysat numerous times and she is just a joy. Thanks for asking. :)
@All~ I am contacting my state reps again. (Sen. Max Baucus (MT) signed this bill)….this is beyond disgusting and WE ALL need to take action! Thanks Obama and all you other politicians that don’t have a clue that “horse slaughter” HAS NEVER BEEN and WILL NEVER BE “humane”. NOT IN MY BACKYARD! We have lots of work to do…get busy everyone…
Sally B. (Wi)
@many, I will read more info on this post and then respond to my Senators and Congressman if here in Wi. it will help.
eastcoastkid
@ all Zisters and Zr’others (LOL)
the info I posted a few entries ago works on every thing in the public domain. If a federal law needs to be passed/overturned/written or tabled…your congressman and Senators are the very best people to turn to…I know you all know it but I feel so strongly about citizen involvement in public pollicy decisions in DC, I drive my congressman crazy…and I don’t care(LOL)…that is why he is there!
Marlene Dodge
Hey there in the wonderful “Z” world. Just a moment from the Fire Station. We have all banded together and raised over 2,115. so far. I assure you all that Little Cloud (love that name) will be born safe and free. I will be heading over to Nevada on Thursday and back (hopefully with full trailer) on Friday.
I don’t know how to say THANK YOU enough to you all. That big beautiful horse Zenyatta is doing some amazing things with her spirit. Wouldnt it be wonderful if Little Cloud was born in March on the same day of baby Zenyatta.
Well I better get back to work, Thank you all again and I will keep you updated.

@Marlene Dodge~ THANK YOU for your work! I look forward to your updates on these fabulous horses.
I just wish that all horses worlds’ could be “Z Wonderful”. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Thanks again for all that you are doing.
Zenyatta’s #1 fan in Montana!

GOD BLESS YOU, AMRLENE DOCGE.TOGETHER we can do this. I cannot believe you have a “real” job on top of all you do!!
And now this dreadful news about slaughter goes against everything we have been working so hard for. Any who feel led, please join us at http://www.equi-army-ndo.com.We need more helpers.
