Good Morning,
It is the final day of November, 2011. It seems like the last 30 days have been extremely busy and filled with a variety of events. The month started with all of the Breeders’ Cup activities, races, and MY PARTY. (YIPPEE!) It ultimately wound down with an abundance of great racing around the country. Rapid Redux reached #20! Hollywood Park’s Autumn Festival, the competitive 2 year old stakes at Churchill on their closing weekend, and Aqueduct hosting races as the Cigar Mile, Remsen, Gazelle, and Demoiselle all added to the excitement. Many current and future stars performed with such style. Congratulations to all of the victors and their connections!
Additionally, the November HORSE SALES have been very active at Fasig-Tipton, Keeneland, and now Tattersalls in Newmarket. The quality of stock auctioned at these venues has been excellent…and the prices paid for these horses reflected such. People truly love our sport and want to be involved!
In reality, so much action constantly takes place in ‘the horse world’! There is always something new to learn, to study, and to enjoy! I truly believe this is what makes it all so enjoyable and intriguing to people! There is never a dull moment and the pace at which our sport functions definitely keeps you ‘on your toes’.
Santa Anita, ‘The Great Race Place’, as it is often called, opens the day after Christmas. Currently, their staff is extremely busy completing a number of maintenance projects. In the infield, they are installing a brand new high-tech video board. This BIG BOARD will measure 53′ by 29′ offering the best resolution available in technology today. New state-of-the art boards are also being placed in the paddock area to enhance the entire racing experience for the ‘on-track’ fans. In this photo, they are dismantling and removing the ‘old infield board’. All of this is actually a very specific and detailed process…but the workers are making great progress.
When completed…it should be amazing! HMMM! Perhaps they’ll show some videos of ME on it next season! Now that would be TOO CUTE!
Happy November 30th!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hi Zenny: This is so exciting — Santa Anita is getting all spiffy! When I was at Hollywood Park back in July, everyone told me about the Santa Anita racetrack and how pretty it was. I am really looking forward to being there for the Breeder’s Cup and maybe sooner when your sister, Ebby races. Love you.
tony
Zenny, FYI, my wife and I are writing our senators and congressmen so the door is CLOSED to horse slaughterhouses.

Hey Big Mama Z! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Videos of YOU on the new big boards at Santa Anita sounds like a plan to me. I’m glad they’re replacing the old ones. They weren’t very good. Love getting all of this inside info here, with pictures to boot! Hope everyone at Team Z is getting ready to enjoy the Christmas season. Love to you all!!

Hi queen z! Been thinking about you a lot and your new little one who i pray that she/he is a very healthy, strong foal!! When watching breeders’ cup, of course i was thinking about and missing your “unbelievable” performances! Awhile back, i decided to sponsor a horse @ trott which is a fantastic, much needed organization. The president, bonnie adams, is such a caring 1st class lady! Before i was involved with trott, i knew it is 1st class b/c you and your amazing team endorses them. Your “mike” is very involved and does a fund raiser for a different horse. He has such a big heart! How about that win in the classic with drosselmeyer! No one saw that coming! Even i thought game on dude had it wrapped up then here comes drosselmeyer and mike flying by on the outside! Cool! Anyway, just wanted to tell you i love you much and give my best to dottie and the rest of the team. I want to say rip cloud man…so sad and sudden. He is free to fly like the wind in happiness and peace. Take care of yourself and that little one! Love you much baby girl and sending you and your filly/colt many hugs, xxxooo ps-i signed that petition yesterday

Hi everyone, I wrote to my Congressman about the return of horse slaughtering to the US. My mother wanted me to post here what I wrote to encourge people to write to their Congressmen and to give you ideas on what to say.
“Congressman Rehberg,
Please do something to stop horse slaughter from returning to the United States. There is no humane way to slaughter a horse. Horses are aware that something bad is going to happen to them and they don’t just stand there like cattle waiting to be executed. Horses fight, fight to the point of serious injuries that go without treatment and they continue to fight until they are eventually slaughtered.
When are these people and politicians going to realize that horse slaughtering is inhumane. Besides no one in this country even eats horse meat! So why is it ok to slaughter OUR American horses just so they can be shipped to other countries? It is NOT ok.
There are three or four states that have laws against the slaughter or horses and 70 percent of the American population does not think that horse slaughter is ok. Let’s not go against the majority of this country.
Please Congress Rehberg someone needs to speak out about horse slaughtering returning to our country. The fact that our own Senator Max Baucus agrees with the slaughter of horse is appalling, sickening, and heartbreaking. This great state of Montana and the entire west was built on the backs of horses. Let’s not dishonor them by slaughtering them when they become too old or sick to benefit us. Horses are loving and loyal like any family pet. Please save the horses.
Sincerely,
Carly Johnson
Billings, MT”
If everyone writes in we could stop this from happening. Thank you. Carly Johnson

QUOTE:
“Cloud Man, owned by Ann and Jerry Moss, fractured the pastern of his right front leg. This is the structure between the ankle and the hoof, and such fractures in full flight are relatively unusual on American tracks. Equine surgeons have fusion, stabilizers, and even prosthetic tools at their disposal, but the damage to Cloud Man’s lower leg was so comprehensive that no hopeful prognosis could be imagined. He was euthanized in his stall that evening. He did not make a headline in the L.A. Times…”

If they show videos of you Z….many people would be coming there and would be very happy. I watch your races a lot…and seem to tear up every time about the 2009 Breeder’s Cup…wow …you were a super horse then….and now a super horse in retirement….you are loved by so many. Hugs to you Z….

Zenny – I have voted for YOU and at the moment you are ahead by a landslide. But that is nothing new for you :) @eastcoastkid – THANK YOU for the link to US House of Reps…my letter is in!
eastcoastkid
so…ok..I lied…but here is the reason …
CONFERENC COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI), voted to reject de-funding of inspections for horses bound for slaughter for human consumption.On November 18, 2011 President Obama signed this federal ag bill into law.
Here is an idea…just an idea!
@ Everyone;
Herb Kohl is a member of the family that owns Kohl’s Dept Stores….Christmas is coming and shopping is the main activity…Sen Kohl would be very sad if everyone who disliked what he suppported decided not to shop in Kohl’s this holiday season…just a thought…I am not adovacating anything, just telling you all my shopping destinations will not include Kohl’s and the Senator will be hearing from me this afternoon…just a thought i wanted to share!!!! :)

@Dan
I think “E” is taking a rest for the end of the year like a lot of TB do at the end of the year. Being a young horse, she needs “mind clearing time” as she readies herself for her wonderful debut hopefully in 2012. She also needs to soak up all of Zenny’s vibes/spirit from her current stall at Barn 55. Zenny is sure wishing her the best of racing luck !!!!

@JAG
Love the idea of the “John Henry Million (new name for the Arlington Million). He gave us a lot of thrills running in that race.

Dear Zenny,
Love the update on the “new” things at Santa Anita, the great race place. I so love watching HRTV (Westrock coffee) on Saturday AM’s to see all the California “great names”. Hope you are having a wonderful day grazing, growing that baby and “racing” with TT.
Enjoy your afternoon of pampering. !!! You deserve it. XXXOOO

@eastcoastkid
Mary, I love the way you think. Let me guild your lilly! Why not go to Kohl’s. Grab arms loads of merchandise. Go to check out. Ask for the manager and tell them that you won’t be buying any of this stuff AND Why!!!!!! If enough of us do that, they will sit up and take notice. Just a thought. j

Dear Zenny,
Found some great information on Broodmare diets; know LE is the tops at that for you. Maybe the fans would be interested:

I am going to forward the Youtube horse slaughter video to Obama’s office and suggest he and his children watch it.
This is a travesty, not a very smart decision to win an election.

Ok – wrote to my representative and the white house – and now I won’t be stepping foot in Kohl’s. But I can’t stress it enough, all of us Z followers, we must do everything we can to stop this! Strength in numbers!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@tony–I meant to tell you that I loved your post yesterday. There is nothing unmanly (lol!) about admitting to loving this site. After all, OUR John, Jerry, Mario, and Mikey are men. Besides, those of us who have husbands don’t have them posting because we tell them everything that’s going on!
Speaking of Mike Smith, his dollar-a-day charity drive starts tomorrow. Even after all the rescues, I think I can manage a dollar a day for a little while. Not sure how it works, but it’s on his FB page.
@Carly Johnson– are you the new mom we prayed for? You are RIGHT ON, SISTER. Great letter.
@eastcoastkid–I’m with you. Not setting foot in Kohl’s.
@all- I just know we can raise the last little bit for Marlene. What she does is nothing short of miraculous! Wish we had pictures of those sweet faces! I’m sure she will post them when she gets them home.

I have just sent my plea to the White House I hope it does not fall on deaf ears. I have asked for a response I hope I get one soon.

@Jeanie; @eastcoastkid and @all with horse slaughter info: Thanks for posting the links and giving us steps to follow to contact our reps. I too wrote to Obama and my reps.
@Carly Johnson–great letter.
@JAG-being from Illinois and coming from a ‘John Henry’ family (my dad’s favorite horse) I love the ‘John Henry Million’ idea.
@Marlene Dodge–thanks for letting us know about ‘Little Cloud’. Hope you get the rest of the money very quickly and enough to give you a place to get a little rest other than your truck! You do wonderful work!
