Happy Friday!

Ann’s recent trip to Lane’s End was all smiles as old friends were reunited. Mario and Carmen, who both worked with Zenyatta at Barn 55, joined Ann and got to meet Zenyatta’s 2017 Medaglia d’Oro filly. Scroll down for lots of photos.

        Dear Judy B.,

I echo your prayers and well wishes to those in harm’s way due to Harvey. I so hope that the hurricane will move on and not just linger thus drowning the areas affected. Please stay safe, all creatures great and small, human and otherwise.

Wow! Look at those dapples and wonderful smiles. It is so good to see Mario, carmen and Zenyatta reunite with the little girl as an added attraction. I think Mario and Carmen fell in love with her just like with her mama. It looks like she has a bit of a curly mane like her heavenly sister had.

Thank you TeamZ and of course Alys for taking and sharing these special photos.

      Dear BGG,

Thanks for posting this. Too bad that it often boils down to “one bad step”; however, at least this is apparently a correctable injury rather than a fatal one, thank goodness. Best wishes to Danzing Candy for a smooth surgery and recovery. Hope he has a long happy life filled with good health and lots of love. Power up, Danzing Candy!

No win for Idaho, who may have been second last or last. No grade 1 for O’Brien. The race was dominated by US horses, exactly what the talking heads said wouldn’t happen. Congrats to Sadler’s Joy. Trainer of SJ also trained Bernardini.

Idaho was really worked up before the race, and he did not have a pony. Those ponies usually settle down the racers. The talking heads said that being washed out was normal for Idaho. He ran well for most of the race, but could not take the lead or maintain the pace. The Kitten horse was really coming on at the end. His dam sire is Big D.

The talking heads should have learned by now to never count out a Kitten. Especially one with Big D as the broodmare sire!

Her owner is a very interesting person. He’s a diamond prospector who travelled the world and found diamonds in Canada. He bought his first horse at 15. He now owns two breeding farms in Kentucky. His horses race in both the US and Canada, and always have homes at the farms when they retire. I read that he only gives interviews to promote horse racing and animal welfare causes.

I hope he does it soon, I’m afraid of him losing confidence. I really think once he wins, there will be no stopping him; he will like the attention. He did get some good out of this race; there was a time when a horse came out on him, but he came back and past that horse, and he battled the horse on the outside for third. I think, because the winner was so far ahead, he lost his target to catch, so he didn’t show that kick he has. Just bad luck that that horse was so far ahead by the time he got there, but he did good. Just don’t give up Ziconic; I hope the racing luck is on your side next time. Don’t give up our beautiful Red Prince!

Hi Roberta. I thoroughly agree. Even though he didn’t win, once again Ziconic was in the money and he got up to win the photo for third. Considering he was last at one point I don’t think that’s too bad. Here’s hoping nothing is wrong with Mind Your Biscuits he just didn’t run his race today. Maybe he was closing some big business deal. Oh well, better luck next time.
