Many thanks to Sandy, Marty, Judy, Pam, Elizabeth, Kathy, Marshall and Debbie. It was a good day. My daughter brought the grandkids out from Louisiana and a good time was had by all.
Dear Max.Yes,I have just been reading about Mullins’ horse unfortunate incident but they both live to fight another day.The Fly must have loved his trip.Frankie was out of luck in Cologne tooBut the aptly named Coolmore, sister of Gleneagles, won and Found is going for the Arc.Only a week to go getting pretty nervous!Hugs Sheena.
Saw that win by Coolmore. Young Joe was riding. When is Ryan Moore returning to Ballydoyle or has he already returned? Young Joe is too heavy for the Arc?
Dear Max.Ryan was on board Beacon Rock today for Coolmore but didn’t win,the other Coolmore runner Port Douglas won.Ryan will ride Found in the Arc.Good news for GH and his connections we have been promised a lengthy dry spell. There is a super Harvest moon which may mean we get a hard winter.Eclipse early tomorrow about 3am.It won’t suit Treve if the ground starts to dry.Sheena
Dear Terry Crow,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! May the year bring nothing but good things, my friend.

Thanks for the info on Aidan Turner. Didn’t know Coolmore was a gorgeous Chestnut. Glad the forecast there is for dry weather. Glen will be pleased. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Sheena,
Criquite is going to have to rent a big plane to dump water on Longchamp right before the Arc. Treve has foot problems when ground is too firm that is why she did not come to England this year.

Dear Max.I didn’t know Perfect Gentleman lost his life today in Italy.I thought both Shorty and the horse were safe.Very sad to hear he will not be returning home.RIP brave boy.Sheena.
Happy Birthday, Terry!!! I hope your day was extra special, just like you. :-)
I went to Taylor Made today and saw California Chrome. He looked so good and seemed happy. They said that he’s gained 160 pounds since he’s been there. There was a good crowd there and you could tell he knew that everyone was there to see him. He was posing big time and he even walked over to me and let me stroke his nose! He’s in the same barn as Graydar. After they brought him out they let whoever wanted stand in his stall with him and get their picture taken. I did of course and got to kiss his neck. Duncan Taylor was talking when Graydar and Chrome were brought out. Someone asked about Chrome going to Dubai and Mr. Taylor said that if Chrome does go, rest assured, Art or Alan Sherman will go with him. Everyone clapped upon hearing that! I’m so glad that he has such a good home. You can tell that the people at Taylor Made really love him.
How great that you got to see Chromie and give him a kiss. So good to know that Taylor Made is taking good care of him and that if he does go to the Middle East again, his trainer(s) will be with him. Thank you for sharing your visit with us. Love and Hugs, JB
Debbie–Glad to see that you were able to visit CC. However, for Perry Martin to take any bows is somewhat misleading. CC wouldn’t have gone to England and, therefore, be in the shape he is in without the complicity of Martin.
Debbie G,
Thank you for telling us about your visit with Chromie. Sounds as if he is enjoying his time off in Kentucky. Nothing against the folks who were caring for him in England as I am sure they took good care of him, but just seems he did not thrive there. Too much travel? Too much rain and not enough sun for a California horse?
Dear Debbie G,
Great report, I knew Taylor Made were great horseman and had CC’s best interest in mind, boy they do keep them much leaner in Europe, much less carbohydrate than we do, he is an American TB so that is why he looked so lean the European TB has a different metabolism anf they are structurally larger boned than our American TB. So glad to hear that he is that personable he is a very laid back horse.
Love and hugs
Dear Max.It is always sad to lose a beloved horse.I was on Kauto’s twitter today Laura posts a lot of Paul’s news and she puts up Kauto’s sunday best. There’s not a day goes by when I don’t think of him or all the horses we’ve loved and lost.Sheena.
Wishing you all the very best, Terry C! You’ve brought many a smile to so many of us — quite a wonderful achievement!
Hoping the year ahead is especially good to you.

Certain sounds and fragrances come through more clearly in autumn than any other time. It is always satisfying to take a thermos of coffee and a sweet roll and disappear into the countryside just to sit and absorb the unending wonders of nature.
Beneath the bent grasses in the meadow is new growth of plants that will survive the winter. Mullein that is called Indian tobacco spreads its broad furry leaves and will grow low until spring. All along the paths are wild turkey tracks and tracks that appear to be small palm prints but belong to the raccoon. Red tail hawks ride the currents overhead and a flock of gulls turn silver as they move swiftly. It is autumn, but it is even more. This is life that gives us peace.
