    Dear Debbie and Max.I am thrilled for Vera and all the veterans there to greet her.It was a pity about the weather,we haven’t had any rain here in Wales today.I can’t help thinking of Lady and how far she’s travelled,she’s such an experienced osprey.Glesni won’t be long.Hope she will remember to return early next year!Hugs Sheena.

      Sheena. God speed Lady on her trip. If I were her, I’d forget about winging it to Senegal and spend the winter on the French Riveria or in Monaco.

        • Cinco C. looks like the best bet to me too, but it’s hard to pass up the “city” horse (seems really disloyal somehow). Remember that even if the horse goes off at even money, he’s going to pay $4.00 so that’s $40 for us :-)

        • Ann NC. Missed this news of Big Trouble. Just looked it up. Prognosis may not be good, torn suspensory. Dutrow says that he’s gone for the rest of the year and it could be a career ender. Will be evaluated in new year. Bad news. I was looking forward to watching this guy race. Beast, be careful. It’s all on you now.

    Dear Max.Lovely pic of Hovis.Hope he can do some jumping this weekend,he deserves it after all the blood, sweat and toil.I loved his poem,so many forget these days,even at our local churchyard some drunken yobs had urinated on the poppy garden,I had been passing through there last week and took some photos.
    I read in the Mail online that Freya George Osborne’s cat was hit by a car the other night she’s a bit battered and bruised but should be home soon.he was very grateful to passers-by for helping her.It’s international cat day today so hope our furry friends have had a lovely time.       Sheena. I really noticed in that photo of a Hovis what good eyes that Hovis has. He’s actually a very handsome guy, manly for sure.
      Show some respect is the best path to take in all things, but too many people can act so low that it’s incredible. Poppies are one of my favorite plants. They come in many colors, not just red.
      Poor Freya. I hope that she is on the mend soon. Did not know that it is international cat day. Nissy chose a good week to share his day with other cats.
      Saw that Silver Max is running, and Dan is not. Seek Again is in that race too. He’s a nice horse. Doesn’t Tagi run on Sunday?

    Debbie and Sheena. Here’s a photo of the crowd in the UK hangar who came out to welcome Vera and see Thumper. Really good. Sounds like the whole tour is already sold out. Read that they have factored in some regular down times for bomber maintenance. These two Lancs are obviously super stars. Vera is in the UK until the end of September. She’s going to Scotland and Ireland with Thumper, but I’m not sure about Wales.

        I found the video. Sorry, that was my fault. I found it originally, but didn’t see the water because I didn’t watch it long enough. Thought I had the wrong video.       Sheena. Thanks for setting me straight about Tagi. Must have confused that race with another. Yep, not good about Iraq. They are using the George HW Bush aircraft carrier, a real beauty. A few years ago she visited Kennebunkport in Maine where the Bush family summers. Really impressive looking. Nickname is Avenger and motto: Freedom at Work.

    I am hoping for better weather so that Thumper can get off the ground and fly with Vera soon.. Wishing them both a great tour.
    As for Lady,wishing her all the best. I do like your idea, Max ,suggesting that Lady choose somewhere closer to stay snug-smile. Feel the same way for Glesni and family.Will say a prayer that they all make a safe journey.
    ps. Sheena,I am in the dark ages and do not have a smart phone.My grown up kids asked me to get a cell and I have an old fashioned one that is not always charged.
    .So,being online is a big step for me and I have turned into a monster! Time to just read and send a shortie occasionally. I am so interested in what the Z fans share as well as staying in touch with our beloved Zenyatta, Coz,Ziconic and Z Princess.

    Dear Blue Grass Girl

    Thank you so very much for posting the video of Orfevre. Could watch his races over and over again. He’s such a beautiful boy too.
    I am looking so forward togetting the I Phone. I definately want the Horse Racing Now app by Ken McPeek and wife. I know you have probably heard me talk about Gabbiano my favorite girl by War Pass that I just dearly love. Met her when she was young at the sale in florida. She did sell and I told her I would keep track of her and I have. Spent a good bit of time with her before she sold.
    Well I have been deligently been keeping track of her and Judy has helped me keep track of her too. She’s been east to west all over. She’s in New Mexico now and I cant see her race. Well Judy told me about the app too. I was so upset a Sunday back a week or so ago. She won. Judy saw her win on her App. Well that did it for sure. I need an I phone. I told Judy she might have to tell me how to download it. I just don’t like technical stuff either, but I gotta bite the bullet and get one.
    I know I will enjoy it and all it offers. I love the online stuff. Oh forgot to say Gabby’s at Riodoso and I’ve not been able to see her, but now I will hopefully,

      Here is another unsolicited plug for the Horse Races Now app – it is great!! I finally broke down and got an android phone about a year or so ago because I was the only person I knew whose cell phone didn’t have a camera – lol! Now I have over 2200 pictures on my phone, but that’s beside the point! With the Horse Races Now app you can track trainers, horses and jockeys just like a virtual stable, but it rather threw me off the first time I was out shopping and one of the alarms went off with the call to the post sound – lol! You will really enjoy the app – have fun!

    Dear Debbie.It took me ages to come into the 21st century and get a PC.Now I don’t where I’d be without it.I had known about Lady from a newspaper article.She was quite ill in2010 and they thought she was dying but she recovered and is still going strong.I learned about the Dyfi on our “springwatch” programme back in 2011 when Monty’s 1st partner Nora was alive.Glesni is Nora’s niece,they are both Rutland born and bred.I find their lives so fascinating ,so full of drama.Love and hugs Sheena.

    I’m hopelessly behind reading everyone’s posts because I’ve been up learning about a FABULOUS champion from Australia, Bernborough. I just fell in love with him as I read his story & watched videos of him. Like you, Zenny, he was 17h and broke slowly. Like you, he was a champion for the ages. Enjoy!

      Thank you so much for this fascinating story of Bernborough! What a magnificent horse! I am so glad that Mr. Plant took such good care of him. Loved that Mr. Durkin’s call, “this is un-be-lievable!” about Zenyatta’s win in the BC 2009 is referenced, too.
      Nice to know that he did well as a sire, also; especially after being injured — he always did his best as it says. A noble goal we all should try to achieve.
      It was so touching that Clem Brooks was there cradling his head when Bernborough died in the paddock. Tears came to my eyes. This beauty was also a sweet soul — what a wonderful temperament!

    been in my glory reading the Keeneland September Catalog and there is a particuarly well bred colt by stallion Street Cry and out of Zenyatta’s half sisster Where’s Bailey!!!!!!!!1 Anyone else excited??????     Tradition is a basic part of life. It provides a pattern on which we can depend to give us a sense of belonging, a security. But we owe it to ourselves not to be so deeply conditioned to doing something the same way for so long that we stagnate for the sake of it. Too many of us sit on the fence, walk the middle of the road and keep our vision limited. It is not in our makeup to betray a tradition. But to break out of a mold in which we have been hand-pressed, to soar in our own right, is to be worth our salt-and worthy of all that has brought us this far.

    In the Indian the spirit of the land is still vested; it will be until other men are able to divine and meet its rhythm.

    Dear Kathy.Standing Bear is very wise.Some flooding in Eastern England last night and our firefighters are striking for a few hours each day this week.We are expecting Bertha tomorrow maybe Wales will escape.It’s lovely here today ,very breezy but sunny.Monty was on the nest with a fish for Deri he’s such a good dad.Glesni is still around,hope she will stay until Bertha passes through.Am annoyed I cannot access videos on FB especially Joey meowing but I can still access Boo’s videos something to do with human working for them maybe?.I also managed to watch the marvellous Will Young video on Zoe’s page.Poor Gizmo’s mom my mum always loved “Amazing Grace” I must say I had leaky eyes reading.Fubu has many kind friends I hope he will eat his dry food,he’s going to have a party on august 30th to celebrate his 15yrs with momma!no signs of Dolly ,hope they are all well and safe.Have a great Saturday.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.

      Sheena. Looked up Retirement Plan. Nice pedigree with Monsun. He’s getting a lot of winners. How’s Frankie doing? He was expected to do well.
      Hovis will be upset with any flooding. Glad that the Shetland was rescued. The Queen has a particular fondness for those little guys. Has some at Balmoral.

    Dear Abigail,The story of Bernborough brought me to tears. Such a gifted horse with such a big heart. Thank goodness he had a trainer like Harry Plant. How tough to love a horse so deeply and know him so intimately and have an owner who will not take your advise and put him in harms way..I love the “Gentle Giants” and he was truly a magnificent horse in body and temperament. He does remind me of Zenyatta in his come from behind style and when he stopped in front of the grandstand to take a bow when he knew the crowd was cheering for him.This was a very special read.,thank-you.

    Tully and I are off to visit Dad, it is a beautiful ,sunny day..
    ps I used online when I should have said communicating on a blog is new for me.I have had a PC for a long time and used it sparingly. Watched the Z posts for years before I made a post. Love the Z fans and am learning so much from all of you.
