Here’s some interesting news. Thanks to Ann NC, I did some research about Vera’s old Squadron, the 419. It was first created in WWII to fly bombing missions from the UK to Germany. The first commander was Moose Fulton. Every commander since has taken Moose as his nickname. Members of the Squadron are known as the Moose men. They are currently a tactical fighter group operating out of Cold Lake, Alberta. Motto continues to be Moosa Aswaysita which is Cree for Beware of the Moose. Who would have thought that Vera has such illustrious connections? Love all Moose!

Think “Frankie Dettori” should come back over and ride African Story. And African Story you do have a US connection. Your Grand PaPa on your moms side “Gone West”. So wish you would come over.
Dear Peggy.Things have been unsettled at Godolphin since the steroid scandal and Frankie leaving.Sylvestre de Souza and Mikhael Barzalona took over but Mikhael was demoted and Kieran Fallon rides a lot for them now.Of course Frankie got a ban as well for using cocaine but he rides for Sheikh Johann al Thani now.Hugs Sheena.

Just came back from visiting little Thurzel. Am feeling a bit concerned because it seems that her paddock mate is to be sold to go as a riding horse to one of the Jeir Park staff who lives nearby. Not sure from talking with them today just when this will happen, and it may be a few weeks because the father indicated that he needs to do some work on the fences, and he and the mother didn’t seem too keen on even having the horse. But worry that it may upset my girl. She was very happy to get her blaze stroked today, but she and her mate were somewhat edgy with the possible buyers in the paddock, and kept taking themselves off to a far corner. Still can’t believe that this time last week I didn’t have a horse, and now – Wow! Hugs KathyR
KathyR. Just keep visiting daily or as often as you can so that you are the constant in her life even if she loses that particular paddock mate. Bring treats to win her over. Keep talking to her. All important thing is that you have a horse! In the words of your great philosopher, Croc Dundee, no worries, mate.

Thurzel will have to adjust again if The Little Brown One goes away. As Max said, just keep visiting and bringing her treats and you two will become BFFs. Love and Hugs, JB
Hovis fans alert. Becky had to ride Hovis through terrible rain to get to the competition today, and he came up lame :-(. His mum thinks it might be a bruised foot, but in any case, they won’t be competing. Hooves crossed that he will be OK!!
Warm August evenings afford us a view of the honey-slow movements of summer, go gi, in Cherokee. Cattle graze peacefully across meadows and the mockingbird that lives at the top of the mulberry tree sings the songs of other birds with great mimicry. The sky is streaked with vapor trails from jets still caught in the last rays of sunlight, just before a smudgy darkness settles over the horizon. Clouds, the kind an artist strives to paint, change colors before our eyes and sweep the western sky. It is the best time to escape the daytime heat and walk along the feed road that winds through the meadow. Tall sunflowers nod in a sudden cool breeze and the white fluff of milkweed carries across the fencerow. This is to hi dv-the peace-u ne la nv hi, the peace of God that passes all understanding.
Might I behold thee, Might I know thee, Might I consider thee, Might I understand thee, O Lord of the universe.

Dear Zenyatta family:
Hugs KathyR

Oh no! Hope thurzel doesn’t lose her first buddy Kathy. We’ll stay tuned.
Max
KathyR. Just keep visiting daily or as often as you can so that you are the constant in her life even if she loses that particular paddock mate. Bring treats to win her over. Keep talking to her. All important thing is that you have a horse! In the words of your great philosopher, Croc Dundee, no worries, mate.

Dear Kathy:
Thurzel will have to adjust again if The Little Brown One goes away. As Max said, just keep visiting and bringing her treats and you two will become BFFs. Love and Hugs, JB

Hovis fans alert. Becky had to ride Hovis through terrible rain to get to the competition today, and he came up lame :-(. His mum thinks it might be a bruised foot, but in any case, they won’t be competing. Hooves crossed that he will be OK!!

Poor Hovis…..he was so looking forward to the Jumping part…
Kathy
Oh no! He was looking forward to jumping, indeed. Get well soon, Hovis! Prayers going up for you!

August 10 Cherokee Devotional
