A Zenyatta Summer Update

Photo by Alys Emson/Lane’s End Farm

Dear fans,

Zenyatta has been enjoying Kentucky summer. Bath time is her favorite, and she’s pampered regularly by her friends at Lane’s End Farm.

We have a special announcement that we’re so pleased to share—Zenyatta is currently in foal, carrying a Candy Ride filly. Over the years we’ve seen how happy she is with a foal by her side, and we can’t wait to share this journey with you.

Scroll down for more new photos and videos from Alys.

        Dear Sandy, Judy and Sheena,

Thanks to all of you for the wishes and thoughts. Yay! Dorian has gone at last. Our area received little to no damage fortunately. Folks on the Outer Banks and other parts of the coastal areas had a rough time; however, the Bahamas caught the worst of it — utter devastation. So sad. It will take a long time for them to recover and rebuild. Thoughts and prayers to all who have lost so much.

Neighbor Ann, how goes it? I hope things are well with you, too.

Sheena, thanks for the news about Tiger Roll. Good luck and safe jumping, Tiger!

        Hugs and Love

          Thanks for thinking of us.
A few windy moments and heavy rain but grateful we were not in direct path. The coast did take a hit with lots of flooding and tornados.
          Prayers to the Bahamas.
          Love and Hugs!

      Dear Sheena,

I don’t follow tennis much, but huge Congratulations to Bianca on the well earned win!
I am sorry the US crowd was unsportsmanlike in their conduct though. There is entirely too much bad behavior these days and not just in sports. :-(
      Congrats to Canada, too!

Dear Marshall. My father and I were huge fans of tennis back in the day.Sad to see the crowd so biased and commentators too. While we love and respect champions over here we will always support an underdog. The simple truth Bianca was the best player and Serena a wonderful champion too in her time.Love and hugs

    Judy,
Hope you had a lovely visit with Charlie and Hudson. I know they were happy to see you and any treats you brought. I had quit watching Saratoga before the last race thank goodness and did not see Burrough Boy go down. It always is so terrible to see this. I think the worst I have ever seen were Go For Wand and Ruffian.

On a brighter note. I was so happy to see Muchie’s little brother, Marconi win. Looks as if he has finally figured things out. And I am enjoying the FoxSports2 coverage of Belmont racing. AND Omaha Beach should be back in a race very soon. Can’t wait to see this talented boy show his “stuff!”

Good evening all you great people here on the Blog.

      Dear Shirlee:

Love my Charlie boy so much and Hudson too. They enjoyed their treats.

Yes, the terrible image stays with you. Usually I watch the replays, but even if I’d done that I would not have escaped seeing him fall. He was in contention and in the camera’s complete view.

I’m so happy for MM’s brother, Marconi. I didn’t know he was racing over the weekend. Omaha Beach looks incredible. One of the Z’sters emailed a video of his latest work. Those War Fronts are stunning looking beings for sure.

Hope you are enjoying some pleasant Fall weather.

      Love and Hugs, JB

    Hello,

I came across the 2009 Breeders Cup race in which Zenyatta blew the boys in the field away. By far next to Secretariat winning the Belmont Stakes in the grand fashion in which he did, this by far is my favourite victory won by this beautiful horse. I was looking in to her history as a broodmare and there does seem to be some conflicting information out there. I read that there have been four foals for her, 1. Cosmic One, 2, Ziconic, 3. Filly which died from a broken back, 4. Dark Bay Colt that died due to ingestion of fecal matter in to his lungs. I feel saddened that this amazing thoroughbred that did so amazing on the track has had such hard times as a brood mare. I fell in love with her the minute I saw her in the paddock getting ready for the Breeders Cup Classic. Mike Smith is my favourite jockey and they were a great team. I would sure love the correct info on her foals, I am going to try and find a picture to put up right next to my picture of Big Red. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Deborah Gibson
