We loved hearing from so many of you following Ziconic’s debut. Trainer John Shirreffs reports that Ziconic looks great following his first race. His coat is shiny, his muscle tone is excellent, and has fully recovered from the race. John is pleased with his Febrauary 20 performance, saying “It gives us something to build upon.” Dottie added, “We love having Z’s colts with us, and getting to see both of them each day is a complete joy and thrill.”
Fun fact: Ziconic wore a special brow band in his debut, matching the one worn by his mom in the 2009 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar.

Ziconic is a lovely colt, as he was a foal. Loved the pictures and enjoyed seeing all those familiar people again. His first start was a thriller. By the way, Coz sort on turned on the after burners last work. Hope that means he’s finding his mojo.

Ziconic’s move when he finally stopped looking at the stands and decided to run was thrilling. I’m so glad he came out of the race well. I’ll be shocked if he isn’t a star in the making. Congratulations on breeding and racing this exciting colt.

Yes, watching for Coz as well. I do not appreciate any negative comments…..drives me crazy. But I sure did notice Coz has two fabulous workouts, looking forward to hearing more about him!

It was so exciting and fun to watch Ziconic run! Today, I finished up my scrapbook pages on his first race with Gary Stevens (my favorite rider) aboard. I hope we will get to see Ziconic run at Santa Anita again before the meet ends. He’s a beauty! Thanks for the pictures!

Boy! The dirt was flying as Zi showed traits of his momma. Glad Gary kept the young prince out of trouble and for an exciting placement by the prince. Loved seeing Mario with Zi and John welcoming Zi after the race. Thank you for giving us a peak into the lives of these special equines. Look forward to hearing more about the boys, the Queen and her nearing fourth.

I’m very happy to hear that Ziconic looks great following his first start. That race was sure exciting! He reminded me so much of his beautiful mom flying down the stretch. He almost got up there too.
