Happy Monday!
Zenyatta, 13Z and Cozmic One were visited by Jerry and Dottie this weekend. It was a particularly special visit because they were there to see Coz off as he departed Lane’s End for Mayberry Farm in Florida. At Mayberry he’ll follow in his mom’s footsteps and focus on his new routine—learning to be a racehorse. Alys captured video of his departure for the fans.
The team spent time with Zenyatta, who is looking great and in foal to War Front. They also said hi to 13Z, who’s having a blast this fall with his buddies.
We’d like to thank Lane’s End for all of the time, enery, and love that they have put into Coz. For that, we are very grateful.
Enjoy!

All so sad and happy at the same time. He’s off to start his new life – wishes for all the luck in the world!

Oh my, he is absolutely gorgeous!! Love him – he will school great – it’s in his genes!!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Awwww. “Our” baby is growing up and going off to school. How quickly time flies. Coz, you look absolutely gorgeous, and you are such a well-mannered boy! We are so proud of you and so thankful to Team Z for the update. Hope there will be more. Next year this time will be baby bro’s time.
Shema Satya
oh what a big day for Coz, love his dapples, just like mama. such a big handsome boy. thanks so much for the video. really special to be able to see him load and drive away. love hearing the horses whinny.
Kalar
He’s gorgeous!! And he has legs for days!! Best wishes to Coz!! Thank you sooooo much for sharing these pics and videos!! They make my day! ♥
Shema Satya
happy to see Dottie and 13Z too! and always love seeing Jerry!
Linda Sain
Truthfully this colt is base narrow and he paddles. I can’t imagine he’ll stay sound. Too bad. This year’s colt is really nice.
D'jaime
My OTTB raced 77 times and earned over $200,000. He is pigeon-toed, offset through his knees, and very base narrow. He also paddles. Retired sound.
Dusty
How old are you? That statement is just what someone who thinks they know everything would say. Stupid. When you have 50 yrs of experience then maybe make a comment!
Heidi
What does that mean?
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Linda,
Who are you to give such a critique certainly not an authority. I hope the Mosses don’t see your post.
Deana from Texas
I agree. It is just so early in the game of life to make comments about what he will become. Especially being the son of the great Z. He will be growing and filling out for a few years. Then, let’s talk about what you think is questionable. Until then, he is a nice looking colt full of promise.
Linda in NJ
I agee with you.
Janet Newman
Everybody always has an opinion on confirmation.
John Henry was back at the knees and supposedly not
good for longevity on the track. Hmmmm, he was successful for
many years. A large part is training I believe and the desire the horse
to race that some have and others don’t.
You can have perfect confirmation, high price tag that comes with it and end up with nothing.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Janet:
So true. Love and Hugs, JB
Terry McNamee
He is at an awkward age. He is very tall and still has to grow into himself. I believe it is far too early to be critiquing conformation on a youngster, especially such a gawky young colt. He could look completely different after his body fills out to match his height.
Lmaris
It is a wonder someone who thinks they can speak with authority can be so far off the mark. He likely has been somewhat sedated, hence his sloppy wiener, and he wasn’t being walked straight for evaluation.
Yearlings grow in odd spurts too, so what might look ew one day can often be wow the next.
Geoffrey B
Linda, that is the stupidest comment. You obviously have no knowledge of horses or their management. The horse was clearly sedated for transport. He was not walking normally. Any horse can be critiqued on confirmation, however, a horses walk is not in any way indicative of his gallop and if you do not know that, again proves your stupidity and cluelessness about race horses.
Sheri Bradfield
He is just a baby. He will grow into his height and I didn’t notice him paddle in that short clip. I didn’t buy a great horse as a youngster because he had a wicked paddle and I came to regret that decision. Horse never took a lame step and was always at the top of his classes.
Max
When I looked at his photos and video, I was amazed at how good that he looks for such a young colt. And WOW, he’s going to be a big guy too. Made me think of that video of Big D with his shiny coat gleaming in the sunlight and running off intruders in his paddock while being a king of horses. Coz is a beauty now and can only get better with time.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Can’t wait to see him after his training and muscle building workouts. He’ll be even more gorgeous. God keep him safe and sound. Hugs, JB

Who really gives a hoot what you think?
Patricia Diers
Lovely colt– Silver Charm was considered narrow too, he didn’t do too badly.
Monica Horn
…….and Seabiscuit was a runty little thing with an enthusiasm only for food and sleep. He possessed a physique that had all the properties of a cinder block. With an awkward “egg-beater gait” the renowned trainer of 2 triple crown winners deemed him “dead lazy” and was happy to unload the colt who seemed to lack any form of brains or talent.
Pffft!
Truthfully, I don’t take too much stock in early predictions by people who think they know it all! No one knows what lies in the heart and soul of an animal until the right person recognizes it and brings out the best in them.
Virginia Wood
Well said!! Let the colt have a chance. Good grief.
Monica Horn
Thx. He’s got Zenyatta’s blood running through his veins. That alone is enough for me to have faith in him.
casey
He’s also still growing into himself- his chest will widen as he builds up more muscling, which will change his stance. I didn’t see a problem with the small amount of paddling. Besides, if he doesn’t like racing, I can see a dressage future- we don’t mind paddling. Seriously, Seabiscuit had crooked legs, Assault had a club foot, John Henry was over at the knee, can’t see that those things affected them much. I see a lovely, long legged lanky teenager. Give him several months of training and he won’t be looking gawky.
andrea
What a horrible statement to make here, you should be ashamed of yourself…
Maryp NY
Linda,
Why would you make such a statement? I guess you are one of those people who looks for faults and negatives in everything in life. It’s too bad.
Marsha Baumgartner
I hate to be ignorant but what is paddling?
Thanks
Nancy
Thanks so much for the video on Coz leaving for the next chapter in his young life. I think he is a great looking colt. I don’t care what anybody else says! Zenyatta should be proud of him!

Dear Alys, Lane’s End, Mr. and Mrs. Moss and Z Team:
Thank you from my heart for letting us be a part of COZ’s life.
Thank you for making it possible for us to follow Z and her babies. COZ is a stunning looking boy; the best combination of Z and Bernie, but he is his Mama’s son. I see Street Cry in him too. What a glorious, handsome boy he is.
Good luck and God Bless you COZ. Hugs, JB
Barb Guckert
Is he riding in the van all the way or is that just the airport shuttle?
I see he didn’t make a big deal out of getting into the van.
Best of luck in your new life, Coz!
Nancy Osmundsen
He is a handsome horse and many less attractive and well-bred creatures have had nice
results. No matter, his people will take good care of the Coz!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Dear Zenny,
Well . . . your boy is off to horse school. Did you hear him say “good-bye?” We are all blubbering messes, but I know that you will stay strong. You and all of the Lane’s End folks taught him well, and he is SO gorgeous! His coat was just gleaming. I can hardly believe that it was less than a year and half ago that we welcomed him into the world on that magical night.
Little Red is adorable – glad he got to see his grandpa and your Dottie. I can’t imagine your Mom Ann missing this, but I’m sure she’ll catch up with Coz soon. Sending prayers for a safe trip to Florida for him and loads and loads of good wishes as he starts the next phase of his career. Enjoy these beautiful fall days Zenny – hope you and LIS are having a great time exchanging stories, grazing in the sun, and preparing for the next arrival. Tell Team Z that there are just no words for how much we appreciate being kept “in the loop” and many thanks to everyone at Lane’s End for their wonderful care.
Love from your Ohio friend, Sandy

Just WHO the heck is Linda Sain?
foalwatcher
I was wondering who was going to ask that! That was my first thought. Motive for such a post! Things that make you go hmmmmm. His color and coat are smashingly beautiful yet poor fellow looks like he’s half asleep in his eyes. He’s not alert at all! Maybe… just maybe… riding hundreds of miles in a trailer leaving the only surroundings you’ve ever known… may be the need for something to keep him calm and quiet. Yes, by golly…that may just be a very smart thing to do. When he paddles(according to Ms. Sein) down the track… be sure to come back and let us know! I actually laughed when I read that post.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Foalwatcher,
Hah, very good, that’s telling her. He looks drowsy and his penis has dropped, good sign of just a little meds to take the edge off. Wonder how she/he would walk under those conditions. ha, ha hugs
sharon in seattle
how generous of Team Z to share this moment with fans! Coz is one good-looking hunk of TB – all shiny and glossy for the trip to Florida. I’m assuming that some Lane’s End staff accompanied him and the other TBs on the trip. Such precious cargo.
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Probably not Lane’s End staff, but Sallee has their own expert staff.
Arieschild
Is it possible to be happy and sad at the same time?? I am so happy to see Coz going off to Florida for training, but at the same time I am sad to see him leave his home. I think he is beautiful and has started to grow into himself very well, I can definitely see his potential to be a great racehorse. I wish Coz a safe trip to Florida and I hope he learns all kinds of new things and that we get to hear how his training is going every once and awhile. Thank you so much to the Moss’s, Dottie, Team Z and Lanes End for everything you do and thank you for sharing Zenyatta and her boys with all of us.
HeidiK, Vallejo,Ca
I was waiting for this day to come. When I heard him whinny I got all choked up like everyone else. He sure is a handsome boy with that wonderful coat and dapples. Have a safe trip Coz and enjoy school.
Who is Linda Sain? Please don’t tell me that Sign is back! Ughh!
Maryp NY
That thought entered my mind too Heidi.
Harmoni Hodges
Yay! he’s so pretty. a very solid looking boy. I’ve no expertise on conformation, but he looks absolutely amazing. i can’t wait to see him race!
Ingrid Arnone
OH! Adorable Cozmic One, I wish you the best, is true, we cannot predict the future, but really dip in my heart I have a filling that you going to be a great racehorse, God Bless You!!!! I want you to know that I cannot stop my tears….
Love you, xoxoxoxoxo!!!!!
Z13Rulz
Coz had a nice little cocktail for the road.
Also while it’s romantic to think of it in such a way, Coz was not on that rig by himself. I doubt it was Coz who was whinnying at the end since someone already on the trailer was already talking up a storm before Coz ever got loaded.
A lot of the videos of Zenyatta getting off the trailer with her legs wrapped, she’d also flown, which is why she would have definitely had wraps on. For a trailer ride, especially these specialty rigs, it’s safer for Coz to travel without wraps, especially for his first trip where he could kick or otherwise get a wrap caught on something in the trailer and hurt himself.
Heidi
Oh my baby is going off to college! Oh whoa is me! How will I live without him?
Mary in Boone, NC
My Dear CoZ,
I am happy you are off to Mayberry Farm to follow in your Mother’s, our Queen’s, hoof prints, but it is still a sad day. Ignore the unkind comments…I have had great dogs that pass through an age when they are longer than tall. I think you are magnificent. You will decide on your path. I know it was good to see Mr. Moss and Dottie…was Mrs. Moss too sad to come?!?!
One day, I hope to meet you, CoZ. My heart had known you since before you were born.
Please be safe, happy, and sound.
xoxo,
I Love You,
Mary in Boone

Thank you so much for sharing the video and photos of Cozmic One. He is just gorgeous. It’s exciting and sad at the same time, he is no longer a little boy. He is growing up and moving on. Please keep us posted on him, we so much appreciate it.
Dmamaklock
We just LOVE being included in the big (and small) events with Z and her boys. Thank you so very much to the Mosses and LE. Makes my day. Coz is going to surprise ALL of the doubters.
Connie
How about leaving him in a field for another year and give him time to GROW UP. He is big growthy boy, I hope they do not break him down…..8-(
Michelle
This makes me sad. I know he is a race horse but it still makes me sad that he has to leave Lane’s End.
Celeste_in_TX
Wow. We have known this day would come sometime soon and then – Boom! – the day is here. Exciting and sad all at the same time. Exciting that he will be moving forward, going to learn so many new things and figure out how to be a race horse. Sad that he is no longer going to be right there at Lane’s End where we know his routine and how well he is watched over. On facebook I’ve just read an article about the Mayberrys and I’m pretty sure they will be giving him top notch, excellent care also. I hope they will find a way to send out updates as his training progresses, but I keep reminding myself how very, very fortunate we have been to have the Mosses, Lane’s End and all of the connections of the Queen allowing us to keep up this small bond we have with our Zenyatta. Thank you once again. Safe travels, Cozmic One!!
Allie in Texas
Cozmic One, you have been so loved from the minute you were born. After pacing for hours, your arrival did not disappoint. Your whinny brought me to tears. Good luck in your racing career. Stay safe and sound. Love ya to that full moon and back.
Dee Englehart
I think he looks good and he has a lot of growing to do so it’s a little premature to make comments about him at this point. This is a very important time for him to start to develop and learn to be a horse. I’m sure when he gets to Florida, he will learn and grow and become the horse that we all know he is and that is the first born son of the Great Zenyatta. I think we all will be pleasantly surprised.
Carole Milby
Both colts are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing them with us.
