Zenyatta’s War Front foal is almost here, and we thought we’d add a little fun to the wait. From now through April 1, we invite you to guess the date and time, to the minute, that 14Z will arrive. The person with the closest guess (without going over) will receive an 11″ x 14″ print of the new foal signed by the photographer and Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss. The winner will be announced following the birth of the foal.
This official Zenyatta.com contest was inspired by the unofficial contest that is taking place in the “Zenyatta’s Waiting Room 2014” Forum discussion.
Enter your guess below. Upon entry you will receive a confirmation email from us. This contest is open to Zenyatta fans worldwide. Please note that we will only accept one entry per person. Multiple entries will disqualify you from the contest.
Happy guessing!

BGG. Read your tweet to Kauto. Very appropriate. Kauto loves to roll. Apparently whenever he would come home from a racing trip, the first thing that he would do on his return to his stall was to take a good roll.

Sheena. Snow again. Like Hovis, I’m also under cover. Yellow perils have appeared in my living space. They are the kind from flower stores. Too much snow for any from outside. The possibly short jockey formerly known as Ruby said this week that The Fly could have won at Cheltenham. but he just stopped racing. You can see it in the video. The Fly has a mind of his own. Like Montjeu.

Anne this is great we are Steeler fans together. It never leaves your blood. You can move but not escape the Steeler nation. We are one of the most if not the most followed team in the NFL. Yes I am saying that!
I understand people that live in other cities have favorites like our Sandy.
I have been to the browns stadium and they are just as serious about their team as my Steeler nation is.

Just so horrific about the Steve Asmussen case. Finding this stuff out makes you never want to see a horse go to race. Just heartbreaking.
I know we do need to really know the truth but look at the one’s that have been convicted already. Just didn’t seem they did to much to defend themselves. I think I’ld go to my grave defending myself if I knew I did nothing wrong.
I agree with others about the language. Terrible
Trainers, Assistants who do bad stuff like this need to not ever be able to be in the business. The poor horses pay a terrible price. And there’s been so many death’s in the last few years. This is a nightmare that needs to stop.

March 22 Cherokee Devotional
Everything in the world cannot be judged by one mistake. When we have fallen short or someone seems to have failed us, we can leave it there where it happened. There is no use in stirring old trouble into every new thing we do. There are things that seem to break our hearts; pain that goes on and on. But we can work through. If we are strong and don’t let our hands grow weak and slack, our work will be rewarded. We grieve for the loss of things, or persons, ache for what we cannot do, but there is a day when the sun finally shines. We can make it. Time heals more quickly when we decide to let it. It is written that any man can make a mistake, but none but a fool will continue in it. This is a new day; live it fully.

Dear Kathy.Have’nt had much time to visit the furbabies yet,was up late watching “sport relief” they raised over 51 million!!!All for good causes here in the UK and Africa.Fubu missed his vet’s appointment but I think got to Petsmart.Did you see the Cherokee post on Zoe’s FB?I didn’t know her boyfren Gizmo also knew Daniel the little boy who died recently. The memorial service is on march 30th.Gizmo is taking part in “March for the Babies”in April wearing a “Daniel”teeshirt.Lovely pic of Ray hugging his dad before weaving for work.Yes,indeed, you share your birthday with a very special lady in the UK.My Dad’s birthday was on the 24th,I think we are all Taureans!!I’m in May.Have a great Saturday.Hugs to You,Kisses for the Puppy Pack.Sheena.

Dear Sheena,
Wow! 51 million…that’s fantastic. Didn’t notice the Cherokee post on Zoe’s FB. I’ll look for it. God bless little Gizmo for his philanthropic work. Yes, I loved Ray’s picture with his daddy…also loved his pic the first day of Spring with his butterfly hat! Marty is absolutely charming.Yes! The Bull rules! What day in May is your birthday? Steve left this morning for a business trip to Nevada City. It’s just me and the furkids right now. Steve will bring back truffles from The Truffle Shop. They are YUMMY! Yay! Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Taureans rule!Did you see that cat being rescued from a housefire on Joey’s FB?so much damage and all because of a cigarette.Love and hugs Sheena
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
That’s for sure! So glad Fubu is better and is even able to go out shopping with Mama. I’m impressed that he’ll stay in the trolley. I can see a dog doing that, but not a cat!!! Boo and Buddy look adorable in those PJs! There’s also a more recent post showing two charms that Human wears on a chain with Boo and Buddy on them. So cute! My great grandmother’s birthday was May 4th. I have a ton of Taurean friends PLUS Steve and I were married May 19th. Looked up the cat rescued from the fire. Mongo was really lucky to survive that! Love and hugs back, Kathy

That video made me sick. How could anyone be so callous and cruel? Steve Assmussen probably ruined Rachel Alexandra. Every horse should be as blessed as Zenyatta. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch any racing for a while.

The video is nasty…..but in all probability it is a tissue of lies and quasi truth….I will wait for more input from a credible source.

With my track record I probably shouldn’t say it but, “Gotta love Nick Zito and a horse named Spot!” Good pedigree and so far nothing bad said about Zito and his training methods.

Peggy (N) South Georgia
As far as camera’s and undercover people in barns of trainers, I say hip hip horray. needs to be done always in my opinion. The horses need to be protected.
Something that I have heard in the last few days and someone please tell if if this isn’t the truth because I would sure like to know. This is just terrible, terrible to me.
And I can tell first account of what it does in humans.
I sincerelyhope that they are not giving Thyroid Medication to horses that do not need it………………………..
It has to be monitored closely even in horses that need it. In humans it has to be monitored closely through bloodwork. Heart rate etc.
I take Thyroid medication and have for l6 years. If you get to much of it you can be very hyper, high heart rate. racing pulse. just a bad situation. Has to be monitored.
Can make you feel like you want to run around the the block bunches of times. …………..
It has to be lowered. monitored.
When I first started on it.. I had a few times where I almost passed out. Had to call the Dr. He immediately took me completely off of it then started me back again.
Can not imagine a Trainer or Assistant purposely giving this to horses. If it affects horses like it does humans. I am no expert but I could sure see how it could make them run faster, but it could also possibly make them colapse, have a heart attack or kill them.
Any Trainer or Assistant or anyone involved in horses care that does this to a horse that does not need it for a medical reason. Should have their license taken away permanently in my opinion and never be allowed to work with horses. And if a horse needs it for medical reason should be monitored closely
And like Penny Chenery said of Big Red. I’m his voice. ………………………
Well I want to be known as being a voice too for horses welfare.
And, I sure wish there could have been lots of spy’s too around when Alydar was alive. Sure would have loved for the Spy’s to have been watching Mr. Lundy’s every move.
OK I’ve said enough, but just hope these trainer’s and assistants know there are a lot of us horse lover’s out there and we’ll be watching.
Max
Peggy. Keep talking. We’re listening. Horses are not commodities. They are sentient beings who need to be treated ethically and with respect. Kindness must always rule. Bravo to you.

You are right on Peggy. We will be watching. There will be more watchdogs than before until action is taken to stop and prevent the questionable and sometimes cruel treatment of these beautiful beings. The safety of the jockeys and all those working at the tracks is also in jeopardy. Action has to be taken asap.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Peggy.I so agree with everything you say,you speak for the horse, sadly, many owners and trainers both sides of the pond are only interested in the money. It’s so sad.Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. To be a good trainer, you have to have a caring disposition and a true love of horses. Cecil had it in spades as he did everything possible to protect Frankel. He never pressured that horse as some might have done. The same can be said for Willie Mullins and John Sherriffs. Willie accepted getting bit in the butt by The Fly as part of the job. He even laughed about it. Tasty chased John out of the paddock at Lane’s End, thinking that she was protecting Zenyatta. John did not get angry. He just laughed.
As for owners, the welfare of horses is essential. Clive Smith went ballistic if someone mispronounced Kauto’s name. Imagine his reaction to anything else?
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Sheena,
Just heartbreaking.

Dear Max.Sorry to hear you’ve got snow again,it’s turned colder over here this week a few hail showers and frost, nothing compared to you.The “yellow perils” looked beautiful in Wales thursday,I have to walk through the churchyard to get to town and I always remember a poem “Fair Daffodils we weep to see you haste away so soon”I cannot understand why Hovis hates them!
Yes,I heard that remark by the incredibly short jockey about the Fly.I wonder who will ride him at Punchestown and Quevega of course.
Ruler of the World is favourite for the Dubai World Cup.Our Flat season gets underway next week.Big day for our Moose tomorrow, would love Darren Bird to put a pic up did you see the beautiful one of Kauto he posted for his birthday.Free the Moose! Sheena
Max
Sheena. There is so much snow that it is almost laughable. Fortunately I pay to have it hauled away or I might be dead from the exhaustion of shovelling. Downside is that the guy likes to work with his plough at 3 am. Noisy! If Nerissa lives in Montreal, he may not yet have survived the polar vortex. Had an email from a friend who said that there was a forecast of freezing rain and more snow. It’s everywhere.
If he’s up to it, it might be Paul who rides at Punchestown. I think that Adriana only tossed him at Cheltenham. She hoofed Ruby. She and Abby then galloped off. She might prefer tall males?
Will check out Kauto’s twitter. Free the Moose. Neigh!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Gosh, I doubt we’d find anyone to clear snow away at 3am!We only have to get a couple of inches for everything to grind to a halt.I think Nerissa lives in Nova Scotia, there must be something about cats living there,he’s thinking of trying to run for senate now as did Tuxedo Stan in 2012!It may have been Mayor of Halifax!
I haven’t heard anything about Kind, have been on Coolmore’s FB quite often and Frankel’s website.Am thinking of Goldikova too.Keep warm and cosy.Free the Moose! Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Snow removal is an occupation in North America or at least the northern parts. Not sure why I thought Nerissa was from Montreal. If he’s from Nova Scotia, he will have had tons of snow by now. They may be getting more this weekend too.
Saw Darren’s portrait of Kauto. Hopefully he will honor the Moose tomorrow.

Dear Max, Sheena, Ann, Marshall and Z Family:
Visited the farm today. Was a sunny day in the 50s, but windy. We painted jump posts for a while and then the girls saddled up and rode in the ring. Charlie was very well behaved; Hudson, well Hudson had to be lunged a few times. She would not walk when asked. But, all and all she was wonderful too. Unfortunately, there were hunters firing rounds in the woods nearby and the horses did very well considering even I found the gunshots unnerving.
Here are some photos I took. Love and Hugs, JB
