Happy 16th Birthday, Z!

Zenyatta, November 2019. Photo by Kyle Acebo

It’s April 1, and that means Zenyatta and Ziconic both have a reason to celebrate!

Queen Z turns 16 today, and she received a special gift from Ziconic, Linda, and George at Templeton Farms.

Ziconic is now seven years old, and we wish him the happiest birthday!

Lane’s End has been hosting live farm tours for fans around the world who are staying safe inside their homes. Zenyatta will make an appearance on today’s tour with Bill Farish at 12:30 pm ET. He’ll start at the stallion barn before visiting the birthday girl. Watch on Facebook Live or visithorsecountry.com.

Update: if you missed the tour, you can watch it here.

See you there!

For those of you like me who do not have a sewing machine. There are several how-tos on UTube to make your mask with just cloth and rubber bands or hair ties. One is by the Surgeon General.

I will be heading out to the grocery on Tuesday. Hope I can find what I want. Do not want t paper or paper towels. Hope that craze is over.

Lots of good videos out there from the horse farms. Of course, they just make me homesick for Kentucky. If I ever get back across that bridge, I am going to nail my feet to the ground.

Be safe all of you all and keep posting. We need each other now.

Shirlee, at my store you have to stand in line, at a distance from each other. There is no pushing and shoving, and the line moves pretty quickly.

I was able to see the Claiborne tour. Loved it and Dell. You can tell how much she loves and cares about those old girls and geldings.

Could not get the Taylor Made. Will try today.

Beth, have I seen you in the comments in some of the horse farm videos?

Please all of you keep posting. It is comforting to know what is happening in your lives and share our love of the horses.

My day is going to consist of a walk and if I can beg some fertilizer/weedkiller from my neighbor, spreading some of it on my yard. Weeds Weeds Go Away!

Sending up prayers for safety for all of us.

Read a wonderful article about Zenyatta today on Google. They are featuring Street Cry’s two champion mares. First article about our Zenny and next will be about Wynx. Wish I knew how to provide a link but hope you all can find it. Very detailed and exciting.

Love to you, Zenyatta, and all of Team Z.

    Donna,
I saw that on Facebook. I also do not have the skill to post here. It really brings home how much racing owes to these two mares. The colts retire so early that fans lose interest
or can’t keep up with them. With Zenyatta and Winx staying on the track for several years they built interest and life long fans. Blessings and good health to both of them.

Every day I am thankful to Ann, Jerry and all the Zenyatta team for this blog.

We had some very bad storms and one tornado here in Indiana Wed. night. At my house just high winds, rain and hail.

Hope all of you are safe and well. Should be some good horse farm videos on today.

Hope all of you got to watch the Mill Ridge Farm video. They were in the field with the mares and the foals. The mares approached as did the foals. We saw one by Gun Runner who was an absolute star-loved the camera.

Happy Friday everyone. Update on the grocery delivery gig – I got most of what I had ordered, but it arrived more than 3 hours past the two-hour window I was given. The grocery stores have started to limit the number of people inside, and that includes the “shoppers” so things are really being held up. Unfortunately, the one thing she couldn’t get or substitute was lactose-free milk. I still have some, but I guess I will have to hunt that down on my own as no store will tell you over the phone what they have n stock. Really cold here in NE Ohio too. We had a little sleet mixed with snow yesterday, but this morning there are places near by that got 2 inches of snow overnight!! Very windy too so I won’t be going out anytime soon.

OK – on the Hovis front, he providing tips to his equine friends about how to get the humans back into shape when the quarantine has ended. Again – some of the references elude me, but you’ll get the general idea. Hope everyone is staying well and “coping” as well as can be expected. Many churches and synagogues are offering online services for the religious holidays. Things will be very different to say the least.
Hang in there and keep in touch!

      Sandy,
Thanks for Hovis. I caused both of my cats to jump and run away when I had a laughing fit over the antics of Chewy from Chigwell. Wow, that one really brought on a good ha ha.

I am finding all of the horse farm videos at Horse Country \Videos on Google Chrome. They show the farms that have them and day and time. You can get them on the Facebook of all the farms but Horse Country makes it easier to find them.

      Stay warm and safe.

      Dear Sandy,

Thanks for my dose of humor courtesy of Hovis! I laughed heartily at his advice this week — I can identify with exercise (or lack thereof) and elastic-waist trousers!! I haven’t been able to go to the gym and have gotten very lazy. I have walked Bailey and Fenn intermittently, but that’s really all the exercise I have done. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

Glad your groceries arrived mostly complete, and hope you can find some Lact-Aid milk soon. I had to switch to soy last year which I have adjusted to after almost a year now.

Take care, stay well and have a blessed holiday weekend.
      Hugs and Love

Those 2 mares have done more for racing than all the boys of the decade even AP. They raced for more than their 2 and 3 year old seasons and gave fans horses to be interested in and follow for more than a few races. Bless both of them and their sensational dad.

Hopefully this will go through this time. I seem to be having computer trouble which is why you haven’t heard from me. I even had to change my name. Supposedly I sent word to the powers that be . but they apparently didn’t receive it. Oh bother. Anyway, keep your eyes open for someone with Maddy as their first name. I know its a bit early, but perhaps you could start thinking of names for Zenny’s little one who apparently is due the middle of next month. To get you started, I’ll submit Zandy as my first choice. May you all have a happy Easter. Stay home. Stay safe.
