January 8 Cherokee Devotional
Lo, the poor Indian!
Whose untutored mind
Sees God in clouds,
Or hears him in the wind.
Alexander Pope recognized the simplicity in the Indian’s beliefs. Though all tribes are rich in symbolism to express what they believe, we all basically believe in One God, One Creator, One Great Loving Spirit over all. The Cherokees had their Father-Creator who was Yowah, the unity of three beings. The name Yowah was so sacred that only certain priests were allowed to say it. This same innate belief lives in each of us if we can only uncover it. Worship is of the heart, deep, joyous, personal. It is a life-current between each of us and our Creator. We can wrongly destroy ourselves but never the love that is beyond our understanding. It is there, even when we are too stubborn to receive it.
We perceive a battle between good and evil, and we also perceive good will win.
The Iroquois

Dear Sheena,
I trust you’re having a good day. All the FB furbabies I’ve visited are well. Zoe’s Zoeism for today comes from the Cherokees. Have a blessed Sabbath. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Dear Kathy.Lovely devotional.Good to see Her Majesty going to church today. Some of the comments though especially about Prince Philip’ ‘black eye’!The Middletons were there too and Zara is in Australia and had a fall from her horse but was alright,
I had really realised Debbie Reynolds had gone so frail she was quite badly bruised after a fall. They were both buried at Forest Lawn on Friday. Is’nt Elizabeth Taylor buried there too?Good to see Zoe using part of your devotional.Felix only needs 31 to get to 100,000 likes.YAY! Brutus the Morrison’s cat has been very poorly over the New Year.He was in ER for 48hrs on a drip to flush his kidneys and there was blood in his urine.Claire had thought he would have to be euthanised.Cats with polycystic kidney disease rarely live past 8 and he is nearly 9 He is home now and on antibiotics for 2 weeks. He is improving and has made the Chester Chronicle.Henri le Chat Noir is going into semi-retirement the thieving film maker is going to post one last video. He will still comment occasionally.Mango and Mattie have been ill too Mattie had to visit the dogster she had flu and Mango caught it off her.You seem to be getting a lot of rain in CA these days and rain in NM too.Mother Theresa chose to give her first interview of 2017 to sky and not the left wing luvvies the BBC.I cannot wait to see what Donald makes of her she is very formal.Did you see Larry’s new collar?he feels he has been taken advantage of!.Charlotte is having a great time in NZ and getting a suntan!Much milder here this weekend but the S word has been mentioned for next weekend! Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs you, kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar SheenaXOXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
RE Prince Philip, what do people expect? When you’re in your 90s that’s what you look like! Yes, saw the Middletons in the pics. Stylish as ever. Glad Zara is okay after the fall. Forest Lawn is probably where Elizabeth Taylor is buried. Many, many stars there! Yes, I was tickled that Zoe’s secretary used some of the devotional! Congratulations to Felix! 100,000 is huge! I hope Brutus will be okay. We will miss Henri le Chat! Good to know he will comment from time to time. Sorry Mattie and Mango were sick. No wonder Mango got sick, too. Such close quarters! Yes, we’ve had the most rain in a very long time. The left wing will just have to get over it. It will be interesting to see what Mother Theresa makes of the Donald! Yes, I’ve seen Larry in his new collar. He looks very dapper! Glad Charlotte is having fun in NZ. But what is the real star, Valegro doing??? Enjoy the mild weather while you may! Love and hugs and kisses from the pups. Kathy XOXO

Many Happy Returns of the day to our Welsh diva Dame Shirley Bassey who turns 80 today. The girl from Tiger bay did well!
Also on this day in 1935 the’King’ was born and in 1947 the amazing David Bowie came into the world and left us too soon a year ago this week.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sheena,
I didn’t realize that Dame Shirley Bassey was from Wales. Happy Birthday to her!
Ah yes, Elvis would be a very senior citizen now — he died too young. David Bowie, also.
Have a good week.

Not such a good day for Willie and the short guy at Naas with a crashing fall for Augusta Kate at the final hurdle.Shorty had continuously slapped her down the neck(bad boy). She seemed a little green and the geldings towered over her. Both Kate and Shorty seemed fine after the fall plus American Tom had fallen in the previous race. They live to fight another day
sheena.davies(wales)
American Tom was found to be coughing after the race and has been diagnosed with a lung infection. No wonder he did’nt feel up to racing.Power up boy.

Sometimes great distances exist between the high points of our lives. Time moves swiftly and we tend to let it slip away without making it count while we wait on another high experience. We discount it as nothing unless we have reached some spectacular height and have passed ten other people on the way. The Indian does not consider himself idle when he stands still watching, listening, seeing the stars, or watching the sunset. His spirit-eyes absorb these signs and wonders to feed him when he cannot see the rolling hills, the flowing streams. A narrow view is one that constantly asks, What shall I eat? What shall I wear? What can make me feel secure? And all the time, the beauty and peace which cost nothing surround us unnoticed. Envy and lack of inner joy rob us of our peace of mind.
O, listen! Hear! Sing with me, for I am joy.

Dear Kathy.Oh,time seems to fly by now the older I get. There was a reality show with Z-list celebrities on the other day and they were in India and I noticed those in the slums were not at all envious. We in the west could learn much from them.Larry tweeted “I told the boss I wouldn’t be in today because of the tube strike and damn she reminded me I live there!I am still laughing at last night’s tweet. The Donald is insulting Meryl today I do wish actors would stick to their scripts though. The”Night Manager” did well Tom got best actor and Olivia plus Hugh got best supporting actors.I thoroughly enjoyed the show last winter.Felix has another 167 likes today and has put a video up.To think it all started as a bit of a joke.I saw the snow in Boston we are expecting the big freeze by the weekend and temps of -13C next week I doubt I will even getup!Valegro must be enjoying life now and preparing for his trip to the land of his birth next month another farewell ceremony for him.Hope we get a video.Alan was giving a talk about him the other day.I remember a judge said he had a heart and mind the size of the world and he chose to give it all to Charlotte. No news of Brutus today but he was improving over the weekend.Milo is turtling in his sock and so must we.Have a good Monday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOXOXO

Dear Sheena,
I am friends on FB with Willow, a shih tzu mix and her brother Charlie, a maltichon. They live in the UK in Berkshire, I think it is. Anyway, I mentioned to them that we outlaw Mondays and just make the old Mondays a second Friday! Larry is always good for a chuckle! Yes, I see that Donald is striking back at Meryl. He will have to develop a thicker skin when he’s president, I think. Lots of excitement last night with all the stars. Congratulations, Felix! Gear up for the freeze ahead. Make sure you have lots of snacks and your sock for plenty of turtling. Valegro is a wonder horse. Can’t say enough good things about him. Yes, a video would be fantastic. I pray Brutus is improving. Milo is so smart to turtle. I hope you have a good day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Dear Sheena and Marshall:
He looks like the colt that we talked about earlier this year. He was unnamed and didn’t meet his Reserve. I think I remember finding a video or photo of him and posting it on the Blog. We couldn’t believe that he didn’t make his Reserve. Do you remember that?
As Marshall said, he is exquisite. Love and Hugs, JB

When something in our minds rings a bell that warns us, we do well to listen. What is it that wants to lure us away from the chosen path? Is it not from the good side? Then, run like a rabbit! Every one of us has a sounding board, a testing place that detects the way we are moving. Like a compass, it points the right way-and we are foolish not to understand-gohlga. To ignore the impressions that are within us is like trying to go through a door, but refusing to use the doorknob. It is one thing to be dense and another to be willfully determined to get lost in the wilderness. Listen to the alarm system. It is there for a good reason-and later on we won’t have to say that something told us not to go a certain way and we didn’t listen.
He hears voices others do not hear; sees visions that confirm his dreams.
