I truly believe that Zenyatta would have won in another yard or two. I’ve looked for her split times at this Breeder’s Cup Classic race but haven’t found them. She must have been running faster than Blame to have almost caught him at the wire. Secretariat’s win in the 1973 Derby showed him increasing his speed in each 1/4 mile. Most horses tire in the latter 1/4s. What were the Queen’s splits on November 6?

Thank you for all the memories. I did not “know a furlong from a footlong” until you came along. We flew out from TX just to see your race. I have never seen anything more thrilling. Years form now your story will be told and the other horse will be but a footnote. I saw you on Sunday and thanks to your owners for their patience with all of us. Your owner signed a cap for us, “life life the Zenyatta Way” We will treasure it and you forever. Please keep us updated on everything your do in retirement. Pictures too please!!!!
    We love you always

Mike Smith did everything wrong on this ride, from standing in the stirrups when he should have been settling her at the start to bulling through the field, checking her twice, when she could have looped it. Zenyatta won this race and a match race whould prove it…except Blame’s been retired already. Too bad.

Amazing. This mare is a rare jewel, and such a gift to watch. She is definitely a champion, whether she has 19 or 20 wins.
Even the best come sometimes come in 2nd, and it takes nothing away from her.
Zenyatta is a powerhouse on and off the track!
    Happy retirement!

I saw this horse in the interview last week on one of the news stations. I was truly amazed at the accomplishments of this beautiful horse. But what amazed me even more was the show that she put on before her race! SHE IS TRULY A GEM THAT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY! I HOPE A STORY IS DONE ON HER IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE SHE TRULY DESERVES THE BEST! I’m glad that you retired her at her Best and not at her worst! Absolutely a Jewel!!!!! Much Love! A Fan Forever!

    Zenyatta,
You my friend have nothing to be ashamed of.
On the contrary, I am more proud of you in defeat than in victory. The way you blew past the field and approached the finish line took my breath away. You, young lady, are a CHAMPION!!!!

Zenyatta and Mike…you are a winner in my eyes and I fell in love with you after I heard about you on 60 Minutes. I live in Jersey and went to a Delaware racetrack to bet on the Calif Girl even though she was a favorite, I didn’t do it for money, but to have a piece of history of the ticket from her race. She is such a beautiful horse and love her personality and dancing. She is the sweetest horse and I wish her the best retirement of health and happiness!!

Zenyatta is a champion whose retirement should not be hastened on the heels of defeat. She deserves to walk away but only
    upon a glorious victory.

In these times of strife and economic distress, Zenyatta represents all that is
good about horse racing and sports. People need her inspiration and gentle ways to uplift their spirts and lives.
My vote is to postpone the retirement party and allow this incredible mare
the opportunity to race until she shows
    that it is time.

The best is yet to come!

Thank you Team Zenyatta for 3 years of excitement and the chance to get up close and personal with a champion race horse.
To see her in person is to see perfection. Everyone associated with this great champion should be proud. She has done so much for the industry and she is the HOY. Actually she is the horse of the decade. Can’t wait for the babies.

you were terrific and beautiful and we love you and want you and Mike Smith to know you both did your best. Tell Mike for me we shared in his agony and not to be too hard on himself. We loved your prancing before the race. You looked esquisite and regal. you are truly a QUEEN and Mike is truly a prince of a guy.

Zenyatta gave a tremendous performance in 2010 Breeders Cup. There was no shame in her performance. It was a mighty effort by horse AND jockey! No horse since Secretariat has run from behind like her. She truly is a Superhorse. Please let her fans know how she is in retirement. She will always have loyal followers.

    Dear Queen Z –
You are the best of the very best! One more stride, and the Breeders Cup would have been yours, no doubt. All those boys just can’t stand the thought of a big, beautiful, talend, “faster than they are” female beating them in a race. You were magnificient with every stride and sheer joy to watch. Thank you for making my heart pound, for making horse racing so exciting, for being an absolute pleasure and priviledge to watch on every occasion. I’d love it if you didn’t retire, but whatever you and your owners decide to do, I wish you many happy and healthy years.
One of your many adoring fans,
    KM

What was that jockey thinking??? Why put that beautiful horse BEHIND a pack of galloping horses on a DIRT track? Zenyatta easily could have taken that race if she had been ridden correctly. Mike Smith wanted to prove what a wonder horse Zenyatta is by bringing her up from dead last [twenty lengths] to achieve victory and instead sacrificed her final race. Before that race, a previous race of Zenyattaa was shown on cable TV [website-Breeders Cup} and my fear was Smith wouldn’t allow enough time to get her through the horses to the lead. He was calling it too close. His timing blew it for her—-Zenyatta had every capabilty of winning and his ego sacrificed the race [“look at me, the briiliant jockey that can bring this horse up from dead last to victory. Aren’t I ‘ wonder rider’?”} Zenyatta is a champion and had every possibility of winning. A horse doesn’t come that far from behind without the total capability of taking the race. I could have ridden her better and I’m not a rider! Zenyatta is in a league of her own…….Champion!!!

A jockeys big ego and bad timing caused a Champion to lose that race. A previous clip B4 the race {on cable TV} showed he was calling it too close in the time he allowed to bring her to the front. He didn’t allow for the fact she was getting slammed by all those galloping horses on a dirt track and cost her the win. Zenyatta is in a league of her own for-ever……..Champion!!!! And everyone LOVES her!!
