New Vocations has a long history of offering retiring racehorses a new purpose as they enter the next phase of their careers. Started in 1992, they have focused on offering a safe haven through rehabilitation, retraining, and ultimately rehoming to qualified and loving adopters. That was a tough loss for Country Grammer and Frankie — CG really made a great run and narrowly missed. Congrats to Japan and the winners connections. Cafe Pharoah did very well to take third.
Several exciting close races today. Congrats to Elite Power, Frankie D., Bill Mott and all connections on their win, too! Gunite ran a good second! That was in the Riyahd Dirt Sprint (Race 7). Elite Power ran an amazing race!
Casa lost by less than a head at the last few feet — he didn’t give up though —
I think that race was the 1351m Turf Sprint (Race 4).

Did anyone else notice that Ebby’s son, Confidence Game won the Rebel Stakes yesterday?! He now has 57 points which should be enough for him to run in the KY Derby. Daddy is Candy Ride, his trainer is Keith Desormeaux and he was ridden by his regular rider James Graham.

Here in NC, the hideous yellow pollen has started (in February) along with
other tree pollens. We would normally see the yellow “gift” from the pines
about a month from now, but it has been a weird spring since New Years!
Oh snap, the heat and humidity will be here very soon and will last until December, I guess. Sigh.
I have already had to mow the backyard! That’s got to be the earliest ever excluding the annual cutback of liriope which occurs in February.
Oh well, time marches on with ever-quickening strides!!
