Zenyatta Delivers a Candy Ride Filly

VERSAILLES, KY — (May 17, 2020) Zenyatta gave birth to a chestnut filly by Candy Ride this morning at Lane’s End Farm. The foal, Zenyatta’s sixth, arrived at 5:40 a.m. ET, weighing 148 lbs. She has one hind sock and a star.

Zenyatta and her filly are both in excellent health following an easy delivery. It brings us such joy to see them bonding in their paddock on this beautiful day.

We would like to express a sincere thank you to Zenyatta’s veterinary team and staff at Lane’s End for their dedication to the wellbeing of Zenyatta and her new foal.

    Thanks for the pic of Z and her Red Princess. That little girl sure has a pretty eye and head.

    Such a shame about Baffert and the horses. Makes you wonder about some of his past champs. Hope this is just some sort of mistake. Did meds have something to do with the injuries to Nadal and Charlaton?

    I truly hope Baffert is innocent. Human err is possible. When i groomed, i tried to be cautious about what i fed & did to my horses.

    Dear Zsters: Perhaps many of you have already heard, but Del Mar, the place where I understand Zellda was preparing for her debut has been shut down until July 24. Oh well, perhaps we can see her run sometime later this year.

    Here’s hoping Zenny and her whole family have a good night as well as all Zsters everywhere.

    Thank you for mentioning my Sophie. Had her for 10 years and I miss her so much.
    So hard to loose them.

    I just saw Jupiter. It is a Wow. Brighter than I even thought it Would be.Just amazing and beautiful. Thought I had missed it but the news said you should be able to see it a few nights after the 15th. It is about 10.45 here. I might go out again after midnight and look again?
    Glad Marshall got to see it too.

      I saw Jupiter again tonight (actually ~1:00AM today)!! Saturn is just to the left of Jupiter, also. Right? Beautiful!!

    Happy Friday everyone!
    Wish I could also see the comet or Jupiter, but there are too many trees and street lights around here to see anything (and don’t exactly fancy wandering to a more open location by myself at that hour of the night or morning). I’ve been taking one of “The Great Courses” called the Night Sky – I’ve always been interested and dragged my parents to places where we could see The Big Dipper as a grade school student. Not sure I’ll get to put a lot of the info to use though.

    Hovey has again stayed out of trouble for the most part (his friend, Bob, though . . . . ), and as you can tell from the title, he continues to question the state of his Mum’s mind. After this week’s blog was written, he was presented with a new “anti-fly” suit that makes him look like a zebra. I’m sure we’ll hear about it next week!

    I guess we’re in for a REALLY hot weekend so I hope everyone stays cool and virus free. The numbers continue to be just staggering in many parts of the country, and common sense seems to be missing in many places as well. At least there is some good racing at both Monmouth and Saratoga if not in California. Check out “Saratoga Live” on Youtube if you don’t get it on your regular TV.

          Yes, I like this horse a lot, too, and he certainly is a gorgeous individual! I think Paco and NY Traffic made an excellent team.

          I would love to see them do well for this trainer, Saffie Joseph, Jr., also. This is his first Derby horse. Stay well and sound, handsome boy!

    Maxi was supposed to go yesterday at Del Mar in the San Diego, but racing there is cancelled until July 24th due to Covid 19. Will have to keep checking to see when he goes. Hoping he’s 100 percent well and looking forward to his return.
