Zenyatta Delivers a Candy Ride Filly

VERSAILLES, KY — (May 17, 2020) Zenyatta gave birth to a chestnut filly by Candy Ride this morning at Lane’s End Farm. The foal, Zenyatta’s sixth, arrived at 5:40 a.m. ET, weighing 148 lbs. She has one hind sock and a star.

Zenyatta and her filly are both in excellent health following an easy delivery. It brings us such joy to see them bonding in their paddock on this beautiful day.

We would like to express a sincere thank you to Zenyatta’s veterinary team and staff at Lane’s End for their dedication to the wellbeing of Zenyatta and her new foal.

    Condolences to Christophe Clement and all connected to the 10 horses who perished in the transport van wreck/fire. This is so tragic and horrific.

    Why are there no videos of this beautiful baby nursing when she was new born? we have always had these with Zenyatta. They are obviously bonded from these photos we have. But ????
    I ask this because this is not the manner it has always been handled. I have known Zenyatta since Hollywood park days, before she become the phenonom. Was there any problem when baby Z was first born?? Please advise. I really care.

    Hhi Friends,
    I have been having a real “down in the dumps” week or so.
    Judy, thank you for all the videos. Such a joy to see little Z20 looking so good. Sad about the loss of the horses in the fire. I have not been able to bring myself to look at the list of the their names.

    Happy for Honor AP. He is beautiful and with those markings you can sure see him coming down the stretch. He is in the best hands with John and Mike.

    Looking forward to seeing MB run. She is such a magnificent animal.

    More bad Derby news. On Blood Horse.com they are reporting that Maxfield is off the Derby trail with a condylar fracture. He is having surgery and they don’t know if he will recover to race again.

      Just heard this . . . I was going to say “unbelievable” but things like this just keep happening! He was certainly my early Derby favorite, and it will be sad that he can’t compete (although second to “you know who” would have been good). Hope you’re feeling more like yourself Shirley. We can dream about snacks and cocktails on the Mill Ridge terrace :-)

        So sorry about Maxfield — sending healing thoughts and prayers for smooth surgery and good health always, whether in retirement or racing.

        Shirlee, it’s hard to avoid being “down in the dumps”, but then thank goodness we can come to Zenny’s blog, and we can visit Mill Ridge. This helps greatly!

        Sandy, every time something bad happens I think: what else? I have stopped asking that question — this year has been totally bizarre and yes, unbelievable.
        Virtual tours are our “silver lining” — Mill Ridge Farm is a godsend!

      Thanks bunches for the videos! Great to see handsome Cozmic One jumping those logs on the nice green grass — Yay, Coz and Isabela!
      Our redhead Ziconic is such a character and so beautiful, too — love his “work-out” with the jollyball, very cute! This could be a new exercise to cure a stiff neck for gym class!

      A gorgeous 2 year-old filly by Tapit, Thoughtfully, won her maiden debut at 5 1/2 furlongs today at Churchill Downs. She is lovely. Congrats to her, Ricardo Santana, Steve Asmussen and all connections! She is out of Pension (a Seeking the Gold mare) and her third dam is by the Riva Ridge mare, Blitey.
